Short Curly Hair Chop | Instagram made me do it

What have I done!!????? Just kidding, I definitely needed a change & my hair grows relatively fast.
I’m probably going to go and get the actual hair cut that I posted on Instagram but this will have to do for now. I CANT WAIT to style my hair this length. It’s going to be fun :)

Good Morning! I just did the same thing 3 weeks ago. I am 68 and have NEVER cut my own hair. I stood at the mirror just like you and whacked away a good 4 inches. Very freeing. Now I am thinking about cutting some more. BTW, a young work friend (23) turned me on to you and the curly girl method! Loving the results! Good for seniors too!

Just watched this video, as I’ve waited 6 months for my curly cut at a specialist salon, and then am now in isolation due to Covid 19. Soooooo, it’s 2 am here, and I’ve just been in the bathroom and cut it all myself after being inspired by you. Chuffed to bits. Thank you. I stumbled across your page when I was researching how to stop hair breakage and saw your CG videos and have decided to try the CG method. I not only wanted to thank you for posting about the CG method in easy to understand short videos but also on posting this haircut video! I knew to start my curly girl journey I needed to cut off about 4 inches of dead ends and saw your video about cutting your hair and it inspired me to CUT MY OWN HAIR as well!! I was having so much trouble getting my curls to come out with my very long hair ❤️ but I cut my hair yesterday and my curls came out with much less work 😍 I still have quite a bit of breakage and damage but since starting CGM I’ve had a ton of new growth. The stylist I went to helped so much to mask the fuzzy new growth. I do t regret cutting it at all!

I just did the same two weeks ago, then I got my hairdresser to cut some layers to take away the triangle shape. I love it, it's so much faster to do too.

I've been wanting to chop a lot off because it's summer time and I don't wear my hair/curls down in the summer b/c it's just so darn hot and my heavy thick hair just sticks to my neck, back, shoulders, etc. So I believe I'll cut it off as much as I can while still being able to wear it up in a ponytail. It's very long, about 4 inches above my butt. Maybe I'll even donate it. BTW, I was absolutely shocked that you just cut away instantly without doing any prep, seeing if it will go into a ponytail, etc.... and I LOVE YOU FOR IT! You are always so transparent, simple, and to the point. Love it and it looks beautiful!

I wouldn't have done a major chop based on a dare, especially if it came from someone that didn't have super curly hair. You're brave! I have super thick curls and I would recommend it. I cut mine super short & love it. It's so much easier and less $$ to maintain. Hope you love your new style!

This is what I do to myself when I want a drastic change. Then I go to my hair lady and she re-cuts it with some professional precision. That hair will look great on you if you go shorter or just stay close to where it's at now. You just have the cutest personality and vibe that you could rock a buzz cut.

Your face nearly lifted visibly with the elimination of those first two cuts. Your hair was dragging your face down seriously. Your shorter hair is perfect for you, so pert and fresh and fun. It never should have been so long.

Just started CG 2 weeks ago and had a chin-length bob which became a silly triangle when I curled it. Followed YT examples of how to cut dry (kind of like clipping a hedge) and getting layers did wonders for my curl. I know if I had gone to a professional they would have wet it, stretched it straight and given me something I couldn't deal with plus I saved $25. Thank goodness for YT.

The last several summers I’ve had the bug to cut my hair short (though I go to a professional) and I convince myself that my hair will spring up curlier if it’s shorter, but what I realized after looking at a bunch of old pictures is my hair needs to be long to curl! I had the same cut about 5 years ago. Did it myself ,too. Really liked it, but grew it out. I be gone from 1.5 inches to almost waist length and I always cut my own hair because I know my own hair best and I’ve had too many disasters at the hands of stylists. Your hair looks great. Continue to trim it yourself. You can do it. It’s not rocket science, just angles!

I've been cutting my own hair for the last 25 or 30 years, and every time I think I might want to go to a professional stylist, I stop and think "Why"?! Nobody knows my hair and individual curl pattern better than me, and I'd probably be unsatisfied and wished I'd saved the money in the long run - Lol!
