I'm just gonna run a y8 trans and get a stage 2 in it.. according to the honda forum the y8 can hold alot more torque than the y7 and its steel...I cant wait to get both mine and my brothers civics at the track.

Personal preference agreed brother. I prefer long gear transmissions because i got more mph per gear and stay in gear longer in my boosted honda also that yes better fuel economy I be under 4k at 65 mph in my Ls trans for my old b20b turbo in my integra but my cousins lsd gsr trans had me gapping fools easier but I had to shift sooner an lost mph so i had to raise my redline higher in the hondata to compensate then I chocked a rocker in my stock p75 head 😆 at 7500 was worth it though I beat a gt500.

I would just like to add he is talking about these gear ratios with a N/A or low power set up. With a Turbo, you can run a lil more boost to make up for loss of acceleration and gain the faster top end with longer gears. Turbo will make up for many losses. Thats why I love em.

Yes it indeed would have a higher top speed but in a 1/4 race it wouldn’t reach that top speed. With the A000 CX transmission it’s can hit 200mph but it might take a bit to get there but it could in theory do it

Best gears ratio are 3th,4th and 5th from CRX FD9 and Concerto 1.6 DOHC with Civic mb2/mb3 or concerto 1.6 sohc final drive. L3/S40 hybrid transmission: 1-3.250 2-1.909 3-1.346 4-1.033 5-0.878 FD- 4.437

He Cleaned it then Sprayed with VHT or Duplicolor High Heat Resistant. That’s how we did my Auto Tranny with the Engine Block

@@johnathonbowers-keable555 long as hell. 4th gear is at 220km/h at around 8700rpm on 195/50R15, when you shift to fifth, rpms drop below vtec. Gear 1-2 pulls well, anything above that is dogshit. Its probably good for a turbo setup but not fo NA.

gears and final all affect the crank to tire ratio. the tire rpm compared to the crank is gear ratio X final. changing the gear ratio or the final does the same thing. larger numbers for ratios lower the top speed, but increasing tq output. longer gears allows higher tire speeds but lower tq outputs. this is why 1st gear pulls harder than 2nd gear, and 2nd more than 3rd etc.

It will. The longer geared trans will have a higher theoretical top speed (the speed it could reach if power wasn't a limiting factor) but on a relatively low powered car like a Honda the short geared trans would likely reach a higher top speed because the RPM will be higher. As an example, let's say you have an all motor D series making ~150HP and the taller geared trans has a theoretical top speed of 180 MPH compared to the shorter geared trans at 160 MPH. Realistically you will not reach either of those speeds with that power, but the shorter geared trans would actually probably have the higher top speed since the RPMs would be higher at the speed you would top out at and a higher RPM tends to mean the engine is able to produce more power within reason. Now if you have a turbo and you are making 500HP then the taller geared trans will probably get you the higher top speed since you will likely have enough power to max out 5th gear on the short geared trans. I hope this makes sense, let me know if it didn't and I will try to explain it differently.

Look for the stamp near the fill plug P20/B000= 92-95 Civic EX/Si (D16Z6) P4A/B000= 96-00 Civic EX (D16Y8) I believe these transmissions have identical gearing in all gears as well as the 4.250 Final drive, just different years
