I enjoyed it a lot too but sadly it was on at 7 p.m. right after football on Fox and when games went into overtime they showed the entire game as well as a bunch of post game studio stuff and joined Space: Above and Beyond "already in progress". So we'd get half the show or less most weeks since Fox was so insistent on starting their prime time slate at 7 p.m. to be different than anyone else but also trying to show they could do justice to the NFL. If they had just put Space on at 8 pm or on another night I think it would have run for a few more seasons. My father watched some of it after football and he liked it despite himself since he usually thought sci-fi was for kids.

Reminds me of the show "New Amsterdam" from 2008, about a detective cursed with immortality since the 1600s, played by the actor now known as Jamie Lannister. It only lasted 8 episodes. I enjoyed it and was sad to see it so short lived. I'd place it squarely in the fantasy genre.

Dark Skies could be on this list, NBC jerked it around the schedule and it was gone for two or three months before it was brought back for the final episode. The show was about aliens who came to the Earth in the 47 crash at Roswell, and directly influenced or caused many historical events of the 60s, including assassination of Kennedy, the 64 Alaska quake, the 65 NY blackout, LA riots, etc.

Space: Above and Beyond was fantastic, it really built its whole universe and characters well, such a shame that it didn't last long. Space rangers...I only saw a few episodes, and I can safely say it's an acquired taste if anything. We really do need more Sci-fi and Fantasy shows on regular stations, Hopefully "The Orville" will keep going strong and influence other stations to branch out and try something new.

And Dean Paul Martin as the incredible Doctor Billy Hayes whose amazing basketball talent totally saved the world at the end of the pilot. That show was way ahead of its time. The episodes didn't rely on a reused plot formula but were all special. They brought superheroes to life action without the colourful costumes - Not Wearing Tights is what it's called on TVTropes now. Their dynamic as a team was always great. @karlsmith2570 5 жыл бұрын
Thomas Kirkness-Little it actually was pretty enjoyable for the first season to the middle of season 2, that's around the time when they the "Jump The Shark" episodes started rearing their heads and then season 3 really threw it away when they replaced Roy Scheider's character of Nathan Bridger with Michael Ironside's character of Captain Oliver Hudson Don't get me wrong, I like Michael Ironside, but, Captain Hudson has a more militaristic style of command and, due in part to the show having heavily deviated from it's original plotline, it didn't really work well

@karlsmith2570
@karlsmith2570 5 жыл бұрын
gary jones Yeah, Jonathan Brandis committed suicide after he'd filmed scenes for the movie "Hart's War" which ended up getting deleted from the final cut of the movie, seeing it as a sign that his career was over, he'd been trying to make a comeback after SeaQuest was cancelled and apparently that was the final straw for him As for Roy Scheider movies, my personal favorite that he was in was "Blue Thunder"

I remember Covington Cross. For years I couldn't remember the name of the show, but I remember that I used to watch it. I loved the opening scene in the pilot episode. Two knights inn full armour are battling each other with swords when an older man comes into the room and shouts "How many times do I have to tell you two? Not! In! The! Castle!" Then the two knights lift the visors of their helmets and are like "Sorry Father." "Yes, sorry Father." I laughed so hard at that.

Millennium was a bit ahead of its time. It was dour, dark and depressing, even in a post X Files TV universe (and of course it was a Chris Carter creation with X Files universe tie-ins). What infuriated me the most about Space Above and Beyond was the network shifting it's time slots, which made it difficult to keep up with it despite being good enough to earn a cover of TV Guide... So when Fox slit Firefly's throat; I wasn't surprised... Them renewing The Orville however completely stunned me; great show, great writing all the ingredients for cancellation by Fox...

Fox is odd, in that their entertainment branch is extremely dirty, cussy and mostly liberal free love F the Man in its ideology. Their news branch tries to be just the opposite politically, but is similar in presentation. Irreverent. FireFly was very obviously based on Asa Carter novels from the 70s. However either the network ass kissers, I mean associate producers, were too dumb to realize that...or they, like Oprah thought Asa was great... Until somebody told her he had been George Wallace's speechwriter and was a KKK grand dragon in his former Eastern life. I think they mixed up the episodes on airing to hide the Frank and Jessie James hero against the evil Pinkerton Yankee Oppressors following the Civil War vibe, or they just wanted it to die by poor viewership, thus nobody has to take blame.

I remember them using a lot of shows for filler material in dead time slots. Legend, The Flash, Space Precinct, etc. all ended up in 2am time slots according to many of my recordings. Then they hit on infomercials making more money and costing less so the series disappeared from the airwaves...

The problem with TV sci-fi is that most of it is canceled before any pay off. Babylon 5 is the one and only sci-fi TV show that ran to completion. Hollywood has never done sci-fi well. They don't understand it and it shows. If it's not a soap opera or a shit com, they don't know how to make it. Most of their attempts at sci-fi are dog vomit.

You forgot the toymaker. A genius, millionaire, toy designer(who also happens to be a little person) and his team of misfits have a sideline of solving mysteries. He had a collection of very special one of a kind toys that he would use in their adventures. The one i remember the most was a classic style, sentient, rubber ball. It would roll wherever you told it to go and, get this, it could transform and unfold itself into a muscle man action figure that kind of looked like a stretch Armstrong doll. It was still sentient in doll form and could walk around and do things. They used it once to escape from a jail cell. Little ball dude was strong enough to bend bars! One of my favorite shows when i was little.

He typically goes by Jerry. I have never heard anyone call him Jeremiah. That actually threw me for a minute. @@LibraGamesUnlimited Now that would be cool. @@scaper8 I think that's the plan. The Professor and Wade had been killed off and Quinn was basically killed (or something) so to have them all back they would have to ignore whole chunks of the past show (and I think most of us would be happy with that). Does the next door neighbor and the mom ever become an item (it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the show, but if I remember correctly I think that the neighbor had a crush on the mom)?
