true that. back around summer of 1998 to august 1999 my parents had a 1985 diplomat just like this red one in gold. it got wrecked on the drivers side and pushed the piller in and such but still ran and drove fine. drove it till we found a replacement 5th ave 1987. had the 5th ave till the trans screwed up and such and got rid of it or stopped driving it the night of christmas eve 1999. then got a 1990 new yorker

For newcomers here, doubt there'll be many though unfortunately, but here you go: Bert's acting suicidal because well... He was kinda trying to get himself killed in the line of duty. He was falsely diagnosed with a fake disease which would kill him in 2 weeks, and he'd get 350k for his kid who was young and needed the money to go to college and uni but ONLY if he died in the line of duty, so he went out of his way to not only catch these guys but to also get himself killed. Luckily he didn't, and also he survived in the end of the movie :P

Funny enough, the red cop car actually switches from a Dodge to a Plymouth when the hood is shot off by the bad guys. Looks like the main undamaged hero car may have been a real Diplomat, while the one that gets damaged is likely an ex-RCMP Caravelle. The blue paint on the inside of the hood certainly suggests that too.
