Hmmm yes I wish this video had explained more about that. So that means we have to buy the pedal (usd$80) on top of the prompter ($280) plus the streamdeck, yes? And can we use any streamdeck? That part is confusing too. The website offers the mk.2, the + and the XL. Do they each do the same thing?

Hanging stuff off the lens is a good way to break the lens mount on your camera. As a professional photographer and cinematographer with over 15 years of experience, the way to make this work would be to use a rails system (something simple like a small 15mm rail system would give you the mounting options you would need). Also, the lens shown isn't that long when discussing dslr and mirrorless lenses. Even thinking about my 16-35mm f2.8 Sony GM (an ultra wide lens) and comparing it to this simple f4 super zoom (that is shown), well they're pretty close to the same length. Sure, the super zoom is slightly longer but it's also skinnier. TLDR: like all of Elgato's product line, it works well enough for non-professionals or for twitch streamers but it's not a product that would survive in a production environment.

This really shouldn't be a concern... the prompter weighs 690g, while a 400/f2.8 lens comes at about 2.8 kg and 600/f4 3.1 kg (Canon EF). And unlike the prompter, the lenses get waved around, snag on stuff and receive all kinds of knocks and bumps while out on a shoot. If this was an issue, all the wildlife photographers would be walking around with broken cameras. Lens mounts are incredibly sturdy, especially on higher-end bodies.

I would really advice against hanging the prompter on the lens without any support, you can mess the helicoidal inner guts, get the inner lens barrel misaligned, etc. Which can create all sorts of issues in the future (from misaligned focus plane to the focus mechanism getting stuck) Lenses aren't designed to have so much weight hanging from the front. Elgato should be wary of recommending using the prompter without support hanging from the lend like that as it can lead to customers asking for repair if this way of using the product damages their costumer lenses.
