How is it irreparable, previously they had slightly worse repair ability compared to other watches like Apple watches or Samsung watches but they were repairable, the eco packaging can be seen in many products, not many things to break in the watch, I would assume the battery would be the most likely problem but other things will probably not be outdated since there is nothing really to do more on watches.

My biggest annoyance with the pixel watch 1 is the response time, reliability, and general processing speed. For the 1, when I would go to stop a run, it would take several attempts at actually ending it. I also don't have any concrete proof for the GPS being off, but it was giving vastly different results day to day. As far as I can tell, having the watch 3 for a day and a half, both of my runs stopped on the first tap, which honestly is enough for me to send watch 1 back on a trade in. Battery life seems good so far, but at this point I'm resigned to this life of just trading in your old watch every few years rather than trying to repair it or something, which realistically most people won't.

The response time is a real struggle. I have the Pixel watch one and while I think it's fine and does everything I want to need. The delays in processing are very noticeable and will be the thing I look forward to the most when upgrading eventually.

as someone who owned both the pixel watch 1 AND 2 and just upgraded to the 3 (mainly for the bigger 45mm size), this is definitely a decent upgrade from the pw2 and a HUGE upgrade from the first pixel watch. first watch was slow, very dim screen, and abysmal battery life. pw2 was much smoother with good battery to start, but it quickly got worse after some software updates. just got my pw3 yesterday and i'm LOVING the bigger size, so much so that the pw2 feels so tiny now and idk how i even used that size for two years. plus the auto-bedtime mode is a game changer, as having to manually activate the bedtime mode every single time you went to bed got so annoying i just gave up on sleep tracking altogether. so for me personally, def worth the upgrade.

My Pixel 2 doesn't last 24 hours with the always on display, I had to turn it off, and it takes FOREVER to charge. I used to be able to do the exact thing that James is suggesting here, charge it while showering, but now it takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to go from 20% to 100%. Also I work in construction, so the pin connections on the watch get really dirty and it seems like no matter how many times I try and clean them they still have a hard time making a good connection. It makes me REALLY miss the qi charging Pixel 1. If I hadn't wanted the ECG function of the Watch 2 I probably would have stuck with it. 50m water resistance doesn't mean you can dive 50m down with it, however counterintuitive it is. That rating is just good enough for occasional splashes or a shower. I'd think twice before bringing something that's rated under 100m in a pool, and if you swim regularly, I can't think of any smartwatches that can handle that apart from the Watch ultra or some Garmin stuff. If you're interested in diving or swimming, take a look at some PADI certified watches, just please don't dive with a smartwatch and get bamboozled when it dies and you thought it can handle it

@ConnorZaleski Yes, it's fine because Galaxy watch 5 pro is also IP68 certified, meaning in can go 1,5m underwater for 30 minutes. My point is, a 50m rating alone is not enough for this kind of use and does not mean a watch can be submerged to a depth of 50m

Ratcheting would be best, but a bit harder to put on, so until someone figures out a way to do ratcheting wrist band, these clip style are still the best(imho). Only problem is that there's a chance you could break the band off the face since you do need to tug a little. Tiny correction to the water resistance ratings. For watches, this is extremely misleading. 50m water resistance means it can withstand rain, or a shower, but swimming is already not recommended. 100m water resistance is for swimming and light snorkling, 200m WR is for shallow diving. So this watch being 50m / 5ATM, is NOT suited for swimming and diving.

Can you use this SIM card version as a phone replacement or do you need a phone backup, I want videos where they try to do that for a week+ for these "smart watches." I think I would only consider one of these if it could be a phone replacement and I don't have to carry a phone ever again...

James, doesn't the trade in program end up giving others the opportunity through the refurb market?

I ditched my pixel watch 1 for a Garmin Forerunner 265 better GPS and better battery life but I miss some of the android integrated features.

Nice quality of the video but It's some distracting that you're checking the teleprompter.

Thanks for the good review, although it's very distracting that you're always looking off to the side for some reason...

Is is even possible to make a watch compact, water resistant and repairable? Like are there any examples of someone doing that?

Am I lost? Didn't we see the Pixel Watch 3 before on some LTT channel? Unfortunately Smart Watches are just not worth the money for me :(

How does this compare to the OnePlus Watch 2R ? I have the Pixel Watch 3 delivering tomorrow, but still thinking about that 2R

I upgrade my watch when the battery dies. Most styles, I go by style for the watch as to who made it. I'm currently running a citizen with wear os. I was running fossil with wear but their newer version is running a proprietary os, better battery life but I can't customize the watch face. I have a watch face that I like and if they are not going to let me customize the watch face then I don't want it. Taking my watch off at night to charge is fine as I stopped wearing my watch to bed back in the 1990s. It hurts it pokes you. anyway. if they would just make it easier to replace the battery, I would probably only upgrade if the performance sucks.

I'm wanting a watch that has accurate sleep tracking and good battery life. Hopefully this is going to do that.

I had my original Apple Watch until the ultra came out, and the only reason I upgraded was the battery.

Honestly, it would be a more compelling product if they took away the calls from the watch functionality.

Do 3rd party watch faces look stupid with the bezels on pixel watch 3 ?

I'll stick with my fitbit charge 5 (admittedly, I only wear it at night...I should probably get back into the habit of wearing it all the time). If smartwatches ever get 7-day battery life, then perhaps I'll consider a smartwatch

You can actually trade-in the old watched.

Got a 1. Not upgrading yet.

Upgrade from 2 probably not idk why you would stick with the 1 though with the smaller battery and long charging times and the processing power. Id upgrade the 1 to the 3 or maybe even just the 2 though i think biggest difference is between 1 and 3.
