@@theimproooooooover I think I get what your saying. Thompson for his faults was in the right. He clearly drew a line and tried hard to get that line enforced. There are points that yes a 10 year old shouldn't be playing CoD, should be outside playing baseball and the parent being the parent. While at the same time, allowing said 10 year old to play games appropriate for his/her age. We got away with it because we grew up understanding the difference between reality and fantasy. Our parents were still acting as parents. The upcoming generations lack that (at least the tail end of the millennial and Gen Z) instead social media and gaming has become the ever-constant babysitter. Thompson was oddly right about rap music but for not the right reasons. It devolved into sex, drugs and violence on its own and thus became complete trash. Moral panics date back even longer, and yes, a driving force behind them is old folks resenting that newfangled thing all the young'uns are obsessed with. When writing was introduced in Mycenean greece, the poets were worried that people would become stupid due to not having to memorise their verses and stories line by line. It's apocryphal, but I've even been told of an ancient Egyptian priest who complained about all the youth playing Nine Men's Morris instead of worshiping the gods. My take is the 8/16 bit era is the golden age and the true king of video games simply being video games. Simple but solid concepts and executions. Boot it up and get to playing instantly with no fluff. But the era of early 3D (ps1/n64 specifically) was a true time to be alive as a gamer. It was the literal wild west and there were SO MANY games. So many! Of ALL genres. Of all styles. There was a load of shit as the industry was feeling things out but there were far more gems than trash. Ps2, dreamcast, game cube and xbox original really had a slew of great works and continued that proverbial games arms race. It was wild. Ps3 and 360 had it's share of greats but it also marked the beginning of 'saftey' in the industry. Sequels upon sequels and just going by formula that has continued to today. By the end of that era started the decline we're in right now.

7:36 It's twenty-TEENS, not twenty-TENS. When you pluralize "ten," the lowest number you get is 20, which is not a teen. And I'm pretty sure most of us were bullied as kids regardless of generation. Xennials, represent! 7:43 Hyper-focus is only one trait associated with autism and isn't specific to autism. It's also associated with trait Conscientiousness on the Big 5, the Melancholy temperament if we're going by the classical temperaments (corresponding with Conscientiousness on the DISC system), and Ravenclaw if we're using Hogwarts houses. 8:11 Actually, we have a penchant for self-deprecation and/or self-parody. Maybe a lot of us are bipolar and/or masochistic. Combine mania with masochism and you can really have some fun. You know, like Fight Club. 8:17 A lot of us ARE nationalistic, but in the "civic" sense (which is "wingless" and critical of both the far-left AND the far-right). You know, like Undyne. * *cue 'Spear of Justice' theme* * But we're also a lot like Alphys with our "obsessiveness" (the downside to trait Conscientiousness and the Melancholy temperament, see also Adrian Monk) and drive to satisfy curiosity of the unknown. *Note:* Ever notice how the internationalist left always refers to "nationalism" in its Lawful Evil ethnic form and not its Lawful Good CIVIC form? It's like they don't even realize that they contradict and battle each other all the time. CIVIC nationalism is based on the radical and daring notion that all nations should be free. Only in a world this clowny can an internationalist refer to a nationalist as an "imperialist" and keep a straight face without realizing the irony. Internationalism is imperialism! Nationalism is Resistance! 8:58 Because they're both geriatric low-t cucks. Demolition Man was a warning, not a blueprint. 9:37 Which is hypocritical in his case since he claims to be a "nationalist." Nationalists are supposed to be ornery (again, like Undyne). Violent entertainment is actually a force for good because it encourages tough-mindedness and an indomitable attitudinal energy which some call *Determination.* Only tough-minded people have the will to *RESIST* psychopaths that go on Genocide runs in the real world. But it takes more than tough-mindedness, willpower, and resolve. It also takes equipment, hence the Second Amendment. *Note:* Only in a world this lame can someone claim to be pro-gun while also claiming to be anti-video game and keep a straight face. The regime under which we toil these days is the "dictatorship of the weak." And by that, I mean "weak-minded." 9:44 And this guy calls himself a "nationalist." Disgraceful. Not nationalist enough if you ask me. Undyne for president, 2024! 9:51 What can we do to stop old people from making "laws?" Don't we have more than enough already?! Legalism is more harmful to the human spirit than lawlessness. When they combine forces to attack at the same time, they become the living embodiment of Baphomet, "as above, so below," with the forces of legalistic tyranny attacking us from "above" while the forces of lawless criminality attack from "below." It's a Napoleonic pincer maneuver specifically designed to destroy both Liberty and Justice. And it was designed by those who value "order" over freedom (most of whom advocate global government, like that's any surprise). 11:47 It's because "power" is rarely (if ever) wielded by those who understand "purpose," instead seeking power for its own sake. A just leader knows that the purpose of power is purpose, in the same sense that "order" without justice is tyranny. Tyrants always use power to dominate, rather than using purpose to liberate. And there's no better way to dominate hearts, minds, and SOULs than by killing the imagination. The purpose of entertainment is to stir the imagination and excite the senses. Take that away from people and you break their spirit. Then they become empty husks that can be indoctrinated to function as automatons that do nothing but carry out tasks without passion or purpose. The forces arrayed against us are an iron-heeled jackboot and it's time we drive a nail through its SOLE, right into the foot that wears it.
