This knife is commonly misidentified and unscrupulous dealers and collectors will sell them as special, rare knives. Do you know what this combat knife is?

Doesn't it say KA- BAR on the left side of the guard? The grip has a Western G46 profile but clearly the blade appears MK2. If I had to guess, it left the factory without the spaces cut.

Couldn't find an example in Bill Walters book II.

This is a knife assembled by a company called Weske after WW2 from surplus parts. These knives are commonly misrepresented as UDT/SEAL knives, which they are not.

A lot of speculation has been made about the smooth handled M2 knives being UDT issued. But anyone could sand out the grooves on the handle.

Indeed, but they are not UDT knives. These knives were assembled by a company called Weske, that sold them on the surplus market. The UDT story came about from unscrupulous dealers trying to make a killing on knives assembled after the war from surplus parts.
