So relaxing watching you make this awesome custom pool rack. Attention to detail was remarkable. 👌

Over 20 years ago I had a very slight mishap that could have been much worse which was my wake up call. I've taken tool safety very seriously since then so I have to admit how correct you are. Thank you for the notice, I will do better. I've built dozens of these racks now, and its amazing how better I am than the early ones. So many very little things that make a huge difference in fit and efficiency. Thank you for the compliements. Bob

Beautiful work and result. My only concern would be the pegs on the bottom marring the cloth over time. I used a "roller" rack long ago and even that left lines in the cloth.

Yes, other commented the same. I have already changed the design. Great feedback on this prototype. Stay tuned, will be ready to sell them soon.

This is amazing! I was looking at making myself one of this racks for my 4.5 Foot table. Now..to only figure out how to downscale this for 38mm balls!

I too am concerned the pressure/friction from the pins will become problematic over time. You have great skills on and off the felt.

Did testing and I agree. Rack has been redesigned with triangular wood "foot". Still looks like a spaceship. LOL

All right Bob, here goes. Everything looks fine until you get to the feet. The issue is too little surface area which creates high friction at that point. I understand, like you said it glides really easily on the pool table felt, but you are going to get wear marks Allah the predator rack. What you need to install is a complete triangle of wood,metal,whatever, that will have complete surface area. It does not have to be very wide. Maybe as narrow as a half inch but with greater surface area you will have less contact friction. All of this would be at the same height that you have right now. And again as I say, the reason being is because the predator rack really marred up the felt on the pool tables at the diamond and predator 10 ball events in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw their rack in Vegas. Noticed their standoffs come to a rounded point. My standoffs are each a circle, sanded to to 1500 grit. I think that makes the difference. Initial testing shows the same problem. Darn. On to prototype number 2!
@keithkruger72703 жыл бұрын
@@ShortstopOnPool Bob, ya know those plastic furniture sliders...the flat plastic discs? You need something like that on the end of the standoffs...maybe 3/4 to 1" across.

Just one prototype and the fit/finish isn't quite perfect. Will be taking pre-orders soon. Stay tuned. Thank you!

beautiful! given your interest in straight pool, it seems like the skinny side could be rotated 90°?
@ShortstopOnPool3 жыл бұрын
Yes. This rack is not for Straight Pool. I'm working on a prototype rack for Straight Pool that will be very thin, but strong - no deflection.
@glenwilliamson97453 жыл бұрын
yes would love to buy one please let me know about price
@ShortstopOnPool3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your interest! This is a prototype, refining the "legs". Should be ready to sell within a couple weeks. The price will be $179.95. Price compares to other high-end racks and is the best looking, IMO.

Where do you get the 8,9,10 ball disks?
@dannyblackburn3043 жыл бұрын
Would be neat if you could cut a 8, 9, and 10 ball in half to use as the legs instead of the pins
@ShortstopOnPool3 жыл бұрын
Ooh, now that is an idea. I'll have to find an old set of balls and experiment.
@williamsheppard87383 жыл бұрын
I like it and every detail except for the pins they need to have a little more safety to them especially for league players I would put like any kind of little plastic or rubber piece where it has contact with the field because you have these league players they're going to press really hard and you know what happens next
@ShortstopOnPool3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I've redesigned it now has a triangular wood "foot". Still looks like a spaceship. LOL

Why not tip the pins with phenolic resin,i.e.ball material

Thought about that. Aside from complicated process, weight concentrated at 3 points and sliding vs rolling.
