Metal Slug 6 is an overlooked entry in the series. It actually made some improvements gameplay wise by giving each character their own strengths and weaknesses instead of being clones of each other. And a new threat which involves working together with both the rebel army, and the martians.

In KOF Maximum Impact 2, one of Ralf's alternative costumes is based on Marco. Also in KOF MI2, Fio is playable and she has a nice backstory. It explains why she became a soldier and how she met Heidern's mercenary group.

It should be noted that in the official canon of the Metal Slug series Fio during her time as the leader of a black-ops unit in the Italian Army aka her pre-Sparrow days had formed a friendship with the female member of the Ikari Warriors Hidenren's adopted daughter Leona due to working alongside the female mercenary on several classified ops before so when Leona along with the returning Clark, and Ralf show up to help during the events of Metal Slug 7 Fio is excited to work alongside her friend again.

According to the official timeline, Metal Slug 3D is not only canon but takes place after 5. It should be noted that the official timeline came out BEFORE 7 and XX came out. It's possible that 7/XX takes place in 2032 or another time. It wouldn't be too crazy... especially considering that Metal Slug 6, 4, and 5 take place in the SAME YEAR (2031), haha.

I always thought the Invader King would have been invulnerable if it had been allowed to reach it's full power during incubation. When it's incubation pod was destroyed, it emerged still powerful, but not ALL-POWERFUL. Damaging it's head would make it lose it's grip and start falling through all the platforms.
