Except Dragon Skin stopped all sorts of rifle threats. We stopped 7.62x54 API rounds. It was fun working for Dragon Skin until the patents were sold.

The Hex armor came from a guy eho was with Pinnacle Armor in the early days of DS named Alan Bain. As far as I know, he couldn't get it to work. The simplicity of a discus wasnt able to translate into a polygon where the center tapered out to the edges. Less angles = more strength

I just saw free field training do a test on it. It was impressive that it stopped both m193 and m855 at basically point blank range with a 16 inch barrel.

Any body armor that does not protect against M193 or high velocity rounds is useless. The M193 round is the cheapest most common AR15 round on the market. Now that Ruger has come out with an affordable 5.7 pistol all body armor should be required to have protection from 5.7 round also.

Still need to get the rifle plates for mine. Got the 3A+ front / back pads and extra side pads of 3A+. I am a big guy at 345 pounds and 6'1" so have the 6x size and fits well.

the kenetic energy alone from the rounds it's rated to stop would probably only be lethal if they hit your liver or in the chest and stopped your heart. people exaggerate the energy in rifle rounds a 5.56 with 1200lbs of force is similar to being punched by a pro boxer likely not lethal to the body

Idk if you noticed this or not but the initial plates that are in the carrier he's showing are in the dragon scale pattern which actually helps distribute the kinetic energy more efficiently..the solid plate he showed was one of their older plates

I have their original soft body armor, with what they call level IIIA+ which stops .44 mag and stabs and slashes. I like it a lot, wear it concealed all over town... just a civilian living in an affordable high crime suburb. I gained some weight recently so now the sides don't completely meet, and I have a gap. Need to lose wait or buy a bigger size heh.

Yes I was thinking dragon skin armor as well and also wondering what the differences if any there is between FRAS and Dragonskin? I think they are going to need to show the differences if any and also any improvements that fixed the stated problems with the Dragonskin line. Hope they can because this does look interesting? What I would love to see is some backpack armor. I kinda want armor to put in my bag when I’m at University, but I don’t wanna carry a 10 lb rifle plate which I probably would never need. Yeah, there’s soft armor bag inserts, which is fine for pistols and shotgun protection, but in the case of a terrorist attack, ie mass shooting, he’s probably gonna be using an AR15 or AK type rifle.

It might be slowed down, but if it hit you in the heart or spine you’d still be dead. If it was a glancing shot you might live. I don’t wanna be shot, and I really don’t wanna be shot by a rifle. And of all the rifle rounds you could be hit with, .308 doesn’t mess around.

@@hardwire1013 Nope. What he is saying is that It will even be worse when it hits the body. The bullet will be expanded as soon as it hits the armor plate, then enter the body making a larger cavity. A victim of that kind of wound will simply bleed out faster. It won't adequately absorb the joules of energy from the 308 round

I got the level iiia and I love it. Comfortable for 12 hour shift and light weight. My first vest and I don’t think I’ll wear anything else other than this mode of vest in my career. Great product and that extra sense of safety is nice to have when going to a weapons call. Don’t wanna test it out (haha) but I highly recommend this brand to any fellow officers.

I wear mine every time I hit the range. It's a good idea to train as many tasks as possible while wearing your battle rattle, since if you boog out you'll basically be living in it.

I live in AK, YOU try saying that to our bears and moose. Not comfortable hunting with anything less than .308. Not guaranteed a humane kill with a .22lr. that would be like defending your house with a beehive, yes it will kill an intruder, but it might be slow, and give them time to kill you as well.

These are great and laboratory tests done, but none of their carriers are NIJ certified, so police departments can't issue these non-NIJ vests to units. Everytime I call they tell me that they've applied and just waiting on NIJ to do their testing. feels like BS. Great product, but can't get it govt certified so police can wear them.
