At least one good news story out of a horrible situation. I’m thinking that he may not have gone at 180km/h but it only showed that because he was driving on his rims, which are much smaller in diameter so it would have revolved faster for less actual distance travelled, and registered a higher number. But still impressive. Now he should get a Cybertruck for his next Tesla, not that it can stop rifle bullets but at least it might be somewhat resistant to it.

He said he looked at the App after to show what speed he was doing ...... and the App actually works off the GPS not the wheel rotation, so that speed would be accurate

This man was still lucky, I guess. I'm very glad for him. Thoughts regarding a Cybertruck in a similar situation - I'd assume that the thicker steel would deflect or at least greatly slow down many of the bullets. I'd love the option of "bullet proof" glass. I also think a steel "firewall" in front of the cabin would be useful? Hey - we are meant to be driving these things around when the Zombies are walking around. Am sure some Zombies will have guns. OK - so now I'm waiting to hear how Bullet Proof Cybertrucks really are!

Fat chance any vehicle steel including the Cybertruck will stop a 7.62mm Full Metal Jacket. You need at least 1/2 inch thick mild steel to stop it. That is just too heavy.

He probably wasn't going as fast as he thought. The rims that he was driving on are smaller diameter than the tires, but the car doesn't have a way of knowing that the tires were gone. Still, driving 80 mph or whatever he was really doing would be pretty scary without tires.

i am guessing he was not driving that fast. Why do I say this? Well it is because your odometer and speedometer are based on revolutions' per mile... when you are running on flat tires or rims you have lost a few inches (or cm whatever) of tire and the distance traveled per rotation of the rims is less that that of the distance traveled by an intact tire. This is still an amazing story and I am sure he was going very fast but slower than his tesla would report.

At 4:12 the narrator speculates that a bullet hit the battery with no evidence whatsoever. Considering the way the terrorists treated his car, by spraying bullets into what they believed was the engine compartment and in the rear where there was no gas tank there was nothing that would have prompted them to know that it was powered by a battery in the floor. Had they actually put a bullet into the battery there was a darn good chance that the entire thing would have either exploded in a blaze of fire or would have shorted out and shut down. After all, bullets have brass casings over their lead core and that would surely short out the battery if it would have been embedded in it. The driver should have thanked God for the miracle that kept him alive.

According to Elon the CT could resist 9mm handgun rounds. However, the AK shoots 7.62 x 39 at much higher velocity. I'm no expert so someone can chime in here to correct me but believe some ammo can even be considered armor piercing.

A good friend of mine ran back to his Tesla Y when gunshots went off in se Washington dc. The car would not open until he pulled his phone out of his pocket and held it up to the door. Then he had to enter pin to drive. After that he disabled pin to drive.

@@greghudson9717 your phone does not unlock your car every time you walk up to it from a distance. That’s bs. Bluetooth technology is just not that dead on yet. Even in 2023. The keycard will work every time. Many many things can interrupt a Bluetooth signal. Not teslas fault. It is the technology. I have owned a Tesla 3 for 5 years.

Maybe your problem is not with the phone, but with the 5 year old Tesla? My Tesla is only 1 year old, so maybe Tesla has improved something in the last 5 years ?

@@greghudson9717 Tesla has improved everything in the past 5 years. I have a Tesla family. My sister two of my best friends also have Teslas. I have the iPhone 13 also. All of them have occasions where they have to take the phone out of the pocket and hold it up to the lock to open the door. Only happens for me when the car is asleep or about 2 % of the time. My sister has A 22 Y. Hers 20% of the time or 1 out of 5. Different software updates solve the problem. Others make it worst.

It is quite probable that the reported speed is highly inaccurate as the reduced traction and reduced wheel circumference would result in the axle speed reported by the speed sensors being far in excess of the actual road speed. However it is great to know that one less life was lost in that horrific attack than might have been the case.
