Today I am going over a video from Beckman's Dog Training
I will be giving my point of view on the methods being used, as well as giving the animal(s) in this video a voice. Don't blindly follow what someone says, even if they are a "professional", use your own critical thinking skills and question the tools, the method, and the trainers.
I am using all footage under the Fair Use Act for criticism and educational purposes, and do not wish for anyone to send hateful messages to the original poster. I hope to spread awareness about this type of unnecessary and dangerous practice that is so prevalent in the dog training world and horsey world, and to give these animals a better life. I really dont know much about dog training but even i can see how overwhelming this is for the dog and how any changes within this short amount of time wont last.

"Not a dog, not a wolf. All he knows is what he's not. If only he could see what he is." -that Russian goose from "Balto" An animated movie from 30 years ago that deserves a bit of a mention. The scenes where Balto is shunned by other people due to him being part wolf stick out, as well as the instance where the main villain steps on his paw, making him howl in pain... Beckman's methods of aggression and looking down on other breeds is very reminiscent of what mushers of the past (some, not all) did with their dogs prior to long travels. If only if the canines under Beckman's training would unleash their inner wolf...

I heard another trainers use dried liver and saying the dogs are crazy about them. I swear, I had 4 dogs total (a Shiba, a Finnish Lapphund, a Japanese Akita and a white GSD) and none of them even tried it 😂😂 I just found that funny. The GSD took it because he is a good boy and just trusts me but than spit it out lol I felt so sorry and gave him something he enjoyed afterwards. But there's nothing that would break his deep trust ❤

I don't see how marching in with cameras, strangers, a muzzle, and a Doberman really settled the dog or established anything training-wise. Looks like a bunch of nothing with a dog that is more bored than aggressive. PS: Let's not body shame Prince and cut him a break on the peeing! 😂 He did well here!

I'm not a fan of Beckman and I've told him this. His methods are rushed like he feels he has to get results quickly which rings of a trainer who hasn't trained a dog to a high level because it takes time. No Joel is rush rush...he never discusses feeding protocols or ANY OBEDIENCE through positive reinforcement at all. A lot of issues can simply be solved through this. This methodology of his is the same as Ceasars let other dogs correct the dog for you ..sorry I'm not a big fan if the dog needs to stop a behaviour I'm going to be the one not another dog biting it. Down the long road there might be a place where another dog might tell a dog enough already and it might help but it should never be the ONLY way or method. I really like your saying you don't deserve a quick fix because you took your time addressing the problem...I know it's not exactly what you say but I appreciate the gist of it. I think Joel's time would be better spent talking about leadership then dominance

I think you need to watch them both more. They both never abuse using a dog to solve their problem. Usually it tends to be the highlight of their videos because it’s in the title but they really do not only use it, they also don’t use it everytime. Ceasar especially in his old videos never used a different dog at all to correct behavior. Also if you watch these videos they only use it as a method to calm the dogs, they know it takes owner training as well. Idk I’m not a big fan of using too much force but this is how it works in actual wolf packs except they get hurt worse or thrown out. That’s just my take on it though. -I’ve been watching them consistently for a few years now

@genesis1831 they only use it to calm the dogs? The correction from Joel's dog you mean. E.g that's the issue itself. I do appreciate caesar in his shows I think many times he uses common-sense and connects with the owners very well. Beckman on the other hand I don't see him connect with many at all. I don't care about Beckmans consequences in general there not severe but his training strategies lack a lot of strategic insight and technical skills. The guy came from training other animals and declared himself a canine expert.

@@alysshakerslake6191​​⁠I think it might be because he only shows a specific portion of his trainings compared to Caesar. Though I’m not sure exactly what he does, he does mention that it’s weeks long programs(till they have to practice on their own with their dogs) that he works with owners, if not then it’s a boarding situation. I think that’s where a lot of people miss because he makes a lot more revenue off of the corrections from his dog prince, he skips passed a lot of his other methods. He also doesn’t always use his dog to correct behavior, he does assess dogs and I believe because this specific video is looking at only one video, it kind of does seem like it but if you take a look at a lot of his videos, he actually seems to do a job like Caesar. Idk I watch a lot of dog channels and Caesars and this guys channels to me are one of the best. Take more looks at both of their channels and I think you’ll be able to see it more. Maybe I’m wrong though.

How come you can do this, even though you are qualified.Dog looks ill.A correct journey could be as long as a piece of string, SO WHAT,, Gosh i hope people start to listen to you. Look at your MR WOOLY DOG ADORABLE AND HAPPY, God lovely Sheba, AND I GO MAD AT PATTING, i snce dragged a pupil physically off a horse for patting. And dogs hate it,X, well done, just so wrong, so sad.
