I personally think anything coming from you is an expression of you, though perhaps it's up to how u utilize your creativity. If you love the look of realistic art, maybe the form or precise articulation of reality your art will say that about your taste (and intuition). I like to think your art changes with your actuality. your translation of experience. Of being. So maybe there is no need to push it, just draw what you see. It will be you.

@@jeffriesbryanangelo7159 Weirdly, your art can both evolve and keep a similar art style at the same time. Of course my current art is better than the art I did at 12 but I can still regocnize a similar style.

He does have a very specific style that he always sticks to, like his are always charecters exaggerated in colour. No matter what he does this stay the same, so I wouldn't call that change in style. I know he experiments a lot but the end products all end up looking a certain way.

I love experimenting with my art, even if I’m only really good at sketching. I never want to add colour and possibly ruin a sketch I’m very happy with, but it’s always worth the risk to have that pop of colour.

When I am happy with a drawing, I use my light box and trace it so I have a copy to color. 😊
@randominternetuser24362 жыл бұрын
I feel you, i used to do that, but eventually I used colors and didn’t care how if I messed up, and it’s so much fun, frustrating at first with the whole color theory, but it gets better.
@aspiring.creative.person60922 жыл бұрын
Something that helps me with that is, if you don’t have access to digital art, find a way to trace over or copy your piece and experiment with colors on that! Also making thumbnails of your piece if you can’t decide what colors to use.
@theirlmess2 жыл бұрын
@Aspiring.Creative.Person I’ve traced art before, and it worked out terribly, but honestly that’s what made it fun. If I practised more, I probably could’ve done it better, but making that mistake of tracing my art wrong inspired me to draw something else and colour it. I love this advice and how you’re choosing to spread it! Have a great day

I still think you have a recognisable art style when it comes to how you wield your watercolour / gouache brush! I can tell an art piece is yours based on stuff like that and the extra details you put around it
@bleh-06082 жыл бұрын
“I want my art to be an expression of me” It really is. I love the way you always keep experimenting and adding new stuff to your art style. But still keep some of the stuff that make your art unique. The white outlines always make the subject pop. And the red tones make the paintings soo beautiful. It's really inspiring to see the evolution of your art. Keep up the great work!
@ghostqueen092 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on your intent with your art. If your purpose is to create a brand, sticking to a style or trademark is good, but if you're a storyteller, or work on several different kinds of projects, it's good to be versatile and allow yourself and style to shift depending on what the art is being used for. However, there's no way your style will stay the exact same throughout your life, as long as you keep practicing.
@sof70682 жыл бұрын
Honestly, even if your art is always evolving, I feel like it still has a distinct look to it. If I were to watch a painting video of yours, with no talking, just painting, I feel like I’d be able to say "yep, Scott made this" lol I really love your style, it’s really unique

Some artists do, some artists don't- there's a spectrum of possible elasticity in ones' approach! There's pros and cons of either extreme. With very single-styled art, it's much easier to market. Whether it's through social media algorithm-ing or an audience within a niche aesthetic, that reliability is much easier to sell- literally for $$, or otherwise. With very experimental and varied art that grows with you, it's easier to develop a multitude of skillsets. You become much more versatile, and your art is more of a reflection of self journey, than a reflection of skill. Important to note that it's very rare to fit into one extreme!! Even when you don't think you have a style, individuals' skillsets and personalities shine into their art!! I truly believe it's impossible to fully lack "a style".

Ice Bear feels both options are good but really depends on the type of person, mood, time, and goals that person has. Does the person want their art to be recognizable and for it to be turned out iconic? Or does the person want to explore more of the art community, and try new things every day? It really depends. Thats just Ice Bear's thoughts tho.

Sticking to a singular style isn't a bad thing- it's strength is in marketability. It's consistent and reliable, and thus really easy to sell, whether it's to social media algorithms or for literal profit. It IS more stagnant, though. It reminds me of why I didn't decide to pursue art professionally after all these years of practice, I like to grow with my art. It really is an expression of me, too. Not to say that one cannot market themselves experimenting in art- I'm so glad you've been able to find a happy medium of both!!

i think a combination of both would fit for almost.. everybody. in order to actually find your style or medium, you have to explore! you dont have to always stick to a single art style, or always have to switch from style to style. you cant immediately find your artstyle by just drawing a small sketch, and its always fun to mess around with other styles and find out which fits you more, whichever you believe is what you said, an expression of yourself, even if it's a combination of two completely different artstyles. so just take time with your style, and experiment with others and see what fits you best, but don't push yourself to the point that you dont enjoy making art.

As an artist myself I think that no matter how someone draws something their individual style always shines through! There’s something about the way the colours blend, the palettes of colours being used in unique ways, the undersketch and the level of rendering a final piece has. I think it’s impossible to stick to one specific style forever just because even the most talented artists who can easily create intricate pieces are still learning. Every time I start a new piece I find myself trying out different techniques. It’s always a lot of fun, even if my hands are super sore after an intense drawing session. Something I’d love to see is how you would go about recreating your water colour and gouache paintings in a digital format. I’m not sure if you’ve ever used Procreate or played around in it but there are some fantastic brushes that people have made that replicate the feel of these different paint mediums incredibly. I would love to see what you could create!

An artist should push the boundaries as far as they can without overwhelming themselves when they have the chance because you will usually find new ways of doing things you love but you should do what makes you happiest as an artist. If you like where you’re at then do what you’re passionate about but always be open to trying new things. If famous artists stopped trying new things they would never find progress in their work. You can perfect one style but you would lose the opportunity to test things that may breathe life into your work like every artist hopes to do. I think you already do great at that but you can always do better even when something is already amazing

You asked a really good question and what you said early on about you wanting your art to be an expression of you not a photograph was a really great quote and question. I think it’s really up to the artist I think your quote speaks of how you feel about your art. I see art as a way for artists to be able to express themselves through their art. If an artist is comfortable with their style they can choose not to change it and if the artist wants to try something new then they can. In a way art to an artist is similar to how people interpret or listen to music. I really enjoy watching you create your art and I enjoy learning about how you view art and how you express your creativity. Keep up the good work 😁

I have been asking the same question. When I started drawing, I really wanted a style like one of my favorite art creators, drawingwiffwaffles. And I aimed for that, but I quickly learned that it took a lot of practice to learn to draw the same thing over and over again. I stumbled onto a diffrent style on Pinterest, and tried drawing it, and got it down first try. It dove me into a sort of existential crisis over my art wondering if I should pursue the oringal style or something doffrent. Then I found Scott’s channel, and fell in love with the “realistic sketchy style” it took a long time for me to come to a answer, and I still haven’t fully reached it. But what I say is, I draw whatever I feel like. Recently, I have been doing the 100 heads challenge and it has been more realistic, but in my sketchbook, I’ve been playing around with a combination of drawing wiff waffles and Scott’s. I wonder if someday I’ll come to a mix between the two, or if I’ll just have multiple styles, depending on how I’m feeling.
