no matter how good you are, i bet that after your 10th song if you come back and read your lyrics you won't feel like it's perfect. writing everyday makes your brain adapt to it and expect it, things will come faster with better structure and meaning, more confidence. If you don't take the "garbage" songs out of your brain you're bound to spit them one day. Just 4 bars a day you can finish a song per week.

I like your approach. I have 12 songs ready to release and I’m trying to figure out the best way to do it. I’m going to split the difference and schedule them every 2 weeks. Wish me luck!

I think this makes sense. I only found your video though, because I have released a second track and noticed 2 people posted with it on tiktok a week before release. (my youtube search was why is my song available on tiktok before release). Anyway despite that I spent a lot of time trying to get something right, it took months. now I have 2 tracks and still quite a few unreleased stuff. I also don't have anyone listening. If I spent the time writing and releasing tracks, I'd have a lot more organic reach and wouldn't have to put as much into getting views for 1 or 2 tracks. so next track will release it with a 2 or 3 day delay, so I don't have to spam the tiktok algo, then can just let people know one is coming, and then an update after its released, and continue making music and improving.

I honestly look forward to these 🙏 I’ve been doing music consistently for over 10 years now, recently pairing it up with consistent content as well. What should an artist do if the music isn’t taking off at all even when following this consistent approach?

Hey anyone can answer this question but he mentions “The Nic D Release Process” Release the song first… Promote before release not after How are these two things possible? I’m seeing it as you either promote the song before you release it, so you’re basically building awareness, teasing and building up the hype before you drop the song. BUT he also says “Release the song first” ? Does anyone else see how this can be confusing. I’m just looking for some insight

Just read your book yesterday. Good stuff. I know their are no shortcuts with success as you outline. But any path where releasing music frequently with little to no promotion still gain low -moderate streaming numbers? I don’t really have the goal of getting a million streams a day like you had at one point. I’d be perfectly happy with 100-200k monthly’ listeners. I don’t have any solo music out yet, just collaborations with other artists so I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. But your book made me just want to dive in and start releasing some of these songs I’ve been sitting on. Thank you 🙏.

I’ve been making music for almost 8 years now and as far as 10,000 hours go, I make good, high quality songs at this point. I’m more worried about staying fresh with worthwhile content, and not having so many songs that new fans are instantly lost in my catalog and can’t get familiar with my catalog. That said I’m trying dropping two songs a month this year. I’m just skeptical that quantity is always the way to go.
@WhoIsHXRT2 жыл бұрын
Try dropping two songs a month like you said! If you start running into those "getting lost in the catalog" setbacks.. take a break from releasing and focus on promoting EVERYTHING for a bit. .. hop back in when you're ready!

How's the release plan going 10 months in? You could still release loads and make your own playlist or artist choice tailored to newcomers.

What is your stance on this now, with Spotify's new monetization requirements for each new track? Newer indie artists aren't going to be paid until each track reaches 1000 plays ( i believe), so 333 ain't going to cut it, even if you have a big catalog. Does this just mean put even more effort into making sure each release is the very best quality? How would you and would you you change your approach if you were an indie artist in our shoes at the current moment?
@aigoated Жыл бұрын
I looked into it and each song has to hit 1000 annually, when he mentioned 333 plays he was talking about daily streams. So if you take this into account, if you get 333 streams daily per song, you already surpass 1,000 by the end of the year.

This guy is really good at making content. Same as Conner. Most people don't have the talent or time to make videos. Which is why most people should be releasing once or twice a month. Either Eps or albums. So point being, their lives are music, most peoples aren't. He made a good point about the 4 week, but he urges you do frequent. Just do you 😃
