He was a quality player too, if injuries didn't ruin him and force him to retire at 26 then he really could have been a top top player. He injured his ankle whilst on England duty at 23 years old and gave up the fight 3 years later unfortunately. Was being touted for a move to a big club at the time so his career was very much about to take off.

I know I don’t even understand why this is in discussion. He’s not a politician, he doesn’t receive any tax power money and therefore is not obliged, just like everyone else, to discuss his matters publicly. If Gareth and Mikel are okay with it then I’m sure it’s not a big deal. James Maddison went to the World Cup with this England squad without kicking a ball even for the fact we all know he is a better player than Mason Mount, he was humble enough to stay calm on the bench, that was something White could not take, White knew very well that he was physically in good form and mentally in good shape ahead of the unfit Walker but Walker was chosen to play and start games ahead of him, so he left the bias coach and came back home, Simple. White would have been very useful in that England team especially when they came up against Oliver Giroud who has a great strength advantage in the air with his head.

At the end of the day... it's football... it's not like he's been called up to fight a war... It could be something personally and as simply as friend or family member has gone missing or become sick and he was not in the right frame of mind.. something that can be resolved quickly and it seems like it was as he came back for the Arsenal... On the flipside Raheem went home to deal with a personal matter then came back; half the comments was digging at him for doing so... personally if I was in that same situ; I would have gone home straight away to make sure that my family was ok... would I go back to the WC... who knows...

It's a positive for Benjamin White. He has been used the same as James Maddison in the expanded squad from 23 to 26. The 2 of them were selected through merit (as well as stopping media hounding). Once Maguire rediscovered his excellent form as a RCB, Trippier performed well as a RB and Walker became fit again for both those positions, maybe there was no need for him to stay. He was never in the FA youth team club and possibly couldn't wait for the 1 hour flight to get back with Arteta, his staff and the rest of the group No one mentioned Partey and Xhaka travelled earlier and separately from their national teams to Dubai. The other unusable players in the manager's eyes were thinking it's their only opportunity due to fitness (Wilson), Nicest man in football (Coady) and Maddison who is on for a move. White has 4 years left and has quickly become one of the most intelligent and adaptable defenders 25 or under in the Prem. Guy didn't even play football until his mid- late teens, he'll be called on again for an effective role. Probably in 18 months at RB/RCB at the Euros tbh.
