I agree, what one person has ALL these qualifications: Astronomy Solar Physic Geology Geochronology Geochemistry Sedimentology Techtonics Palaeontology Paleoecology Glaciology Climatology Meteorology Oceanography Ecology Archeology History Plus, Dr. Willie Soon has definitively shown that the SUN and Water Vapour is the driving force on this planet, not CO2. CO2 actaully mixes with the cloud cover and actually cools the plane i.e. Science Confirmed: Carbon Dioxide & Water Vapor Cool Earth’s Atmosphere Published on November 20, 2013 Mexican study affirms a 1951 finding by top American scientists that carbon dioxide (CO2) cannot cause global warming. Applying known scientific values, more eminent scientists are coming forward to confirm that atmospheric CO2 mixes with clouds and water vapor to cause only cooling. As such, the credibility of “consensus science” claims about man-made global warming being caused by rises in CO2 levels are left in serious doubt. Professor Nasif Nahle (Monterrey, Mexico) provides a peer-reviewed paper, ‘Determining the Total Emissivity of a Mixture of Gases Containing Overlapping Absorption Bands,’ that uses known and well-established values from the results of experiments performed previously by H. C. Hottel, B. Leckner, M. Lapp, C. B. Ludwig, A. F. Sarofim, et al, showing that the combined effect of overlapping absorption bands of water vapor with CO2 causes a reduction on the total absorptivity of the mixture of those gases in earth’s atmosphere. As such, water vapor and CO2 are proven to combine to cause global cooling, not warming.clouds Nahle’s paper affirms the long-forgotten findings of the eminent former head of Britain’s Met Office, CEP Brooks, and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) that also revealed that CO2 in the atmosphere could not cause warming. Brooks, Britain’s top climatologist at the time, along with America’s best meteorologists agreed that the idea that CO2 could warm the climate: “was never widely accepted and was abandoned when it was found that all the long-wave radiation [that would be] absorbed by CO2 is [already] absorbed by water vapor.” [see:“Geological and Historical Aspects of Climatic Change.” In Compendium of Meteorology, edited by Thomas F. Malone, pp. 1004-18 (at 1016). Boston: American Meteorological Association] Scientists at Principia Scientific International (PSI), who peer-reviewed Nahle’s paper, are currently advising colleagues that the most reliable data available now confirms that CO2 is shown to act as a coolant in earth’s climate. As such, the notion of a so-called ‘greenhouse gas’ warming effect may be regarded as refuted, while environmental measures by governments and individuals to reduce “carbon emissions” to combat climate change are, in turn, rendered pointless. So, no CO2 has nothing to do with it.

Two Scientists would be needed - one supporting the IPCC position and one providing an equally strong counter position (which do absolutely exist). This would then be a debate - which is not allowed any more as the Alarmists have declared that the Science is settled with a 97% consensus! Science can only be settled once hypothesise and theory match reality - certainly not happened yet (even historically) and Science is certainly not settled by consensus! If we could have a real debate, it would not be organised or broadcast by the BBC, as they have issued internal communication stating that they will no longer offer any counter position to the alarmist position. So, I was extremely surprised to see Julia H-B included in this QT - always offering a rational, reasoned and informed opinion.

Certainly wet and not planted on time, but eventually planted perhaps a reduction in yield but with a bit of good weather from now on nature has a remarkable ability to to recover. I have seen this time and time again in my fifty years plus of farming. It used to be called variable weather conditions, now morphed into climate change to terrify particularly the young. 1976 was much hotter and 1968 much wetter but saying one year is the hottest doesn’t show the whole picture in farming The timing of a drought is so important so you could have two weeks of blazing sun followed by a rain then same again and again which would result in a high amount of sunshine for the year but the crops would be fine, but if you have.eight weeks of drought which would devastate crops it may not be recorded as high amount of sunshine. You could have perfect weather up to harvest and then rain everyday which ruined the harvest . People can call it climate change, I call it weather Do they expect it to be the same every day

21:20 "Fracking is one of the cleanest forms of energy." Umm....no, it isnt....like at all. ------------------------------------------- We need to move towards a balance between nuclear power backed up by extensive use of renewable energy, primarily wind for us in the UK. Nuclear is the best source of energy we have by far in terms of fuel to energy generated. Case in point: 1kg of uranium contains the same amount of energy as 1,500,000kg (1500 tonnes) of coal. It produces vast quantities of power, is reliable and produces comparatively little waste. its main issues are the time it takes to build the plants, the cost and a bafflingly ilinformed public.

climate change doesn't just effect the UK and anything we do as a nation would make absolutely no difference whatsoever. Countries like China and India who are polluting the environment like the Industrial Revolution, are the ones that need to make the most significant changes, but they wont. They are developing and will not put climate above economic development. And even if every country on the planet became perfect zero emission countries overnight, it will still make no impact on climate change.

In the 1930's the US had it's hottest decade on record and there weren't that many cars burning this so called greenhouse gas. In 1900 we had the worst hurricane in recorded history that hit Galveston Texas. To look at the temperatures for a decade or two, or even a century, and say we have climate change, is ridiculous. We've only been keeping weather records for a little over 100 years and you can bet that in centuries past it got a lot hotter and a lot colder at times. In the 1800's the Mississippi river froze over as far south as St. Louis, and this happened several times. In the 1970's the science books were predicting another ice age, because of the colder than normal decades of the 40's, 50's, and 60's. To each his own, but we're not paying a stupid carbon tax to India and other developing countries so they can go green. Most of the developed countries are not being told the truth by their leaders, that the carbon taxes they are paying will be given to undeveloped countries for windmills and solar power sht. Like Trump said, the Paris accord will be the largest transfer of wealth from developed countries to undeveloped countries in history.

The same people moaning about CO2 emissions are also apposed to nuclear power and fracking. These are the two most viable options at present to meet our energy demands and the increase of energy demands if we minimise our use of fossil fuels. We don't have the energy storage capacity to implement wind and solar to cover our 24/7 needs. We also can't see hydro as a viable main option as it destroys the ecosystems around it. The whole problem would really be sorted if we invented a 'super battery' for lack of a better phrase. However we don't have this solution yet so we need to invest in infrastructure like nuclear fission until technology such as better energy storage and nuclear fusion become viable options. Hippies acting like buffoons telling us to go vegan and stop driving our nasty cars to work aren't in anyway helping the situation. Wow your first rebellion may have caused a piece of legislation but that legislation has physically done nothing for the environment. All it's done is make the government promise something so instead of dancing round looking like you're on spice maybe you should get educated in a field of science or engineering in which we are working to actually solve the problem in a way that doesn't involve us having a blackout period at night were no electricity can be used because there's nothing to use or whatever little there is to use is being used at hospitals and only for essentials

So much misinformation here. Solar and Wind farms are not long term solutions and actually keep the fossil fuel industries running as a necessity due to limited availability, and wind farms in particular cause deaths of rare bird species. XR might have got themselves in the press and got people talking about it, but the real heroes are those working on real solutions and technological innovations that will transform industries, who you don't hear about. The scale of the problem is so huge, disrupting the general public achieves nothing. Instead they should focus their efforts on working with industry leaders, applying pressure to make changes and government officials. Help these innovative green projects raise funds, instead of raising funds to have a fun day out protesting looking like complete numpties, under an illusion they are changing the world. Here's an idea for Rupert; Get your activists to go and meet industry leaders for the cement industry, ask them what help do they need to convert their processes to meet 0% CO2 production by 2025, how much funding is required, and get out there and work with them to make that happen (persuade investors to invest in upgrading their plants to utilise new technology or do crowd funding projects - to implement something like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epauhp97hK9jppI)! If they do not agree to a robust plan and start working toward meeting that target, then by all means chain yourselves to the processing plants, causing as much disruption to their businesses as possible. This is how you will achieve real change, not by harassing the general public who have absolutely no power to change these industries. Try being smarter about it.

Fantastic to listen to a breath of fresh air in Julia. She's calm, civilised and makes logical points, Lisa and Rupert were playing on peoples emotions and using classic scare tactics in the same way these tactics were used for the Brexit debate. Almost every single decade for as long as I can remember has had predictions of a global catastrophe and they've been way off the mark each time. We all accept we need to do more so rather than dividing people with disruption and scare tactics why not tell people the facts. The offical data, compare how we are doing against other countries and analyse what we can improve on and where our strengths are. Once again Britain is portrayed as the worst country in the world and it's people are all dumb, ignorant bigots. Then the left wonder why people are abandoning their ideologies in the masses. The sentiment is right, the method is not. Forcing people to conform and presenting lies and exaggerated information is not working. Facts, education and most importantly allowing people to challenge particular points of view, allowing people to make up their own minds and allowing them to freely think differently is what will get people to talk about it. XR is an attack on particular freedoms and capitalism, it's all smoke screen. Climate change is real but the 'facts' they give us are not.
