Should Elon Musk Make $56 Billion at Tesla?

Tesla will ask shareholders to vote again on the same $56 billion compensation package for Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk that was voided by a Delaware court early this year. Pierre Ferragu, New Street Research Head of Tech Infrastructure research, joins Ed Ludlow and Caroline Hyde to discuss why he is bullish on Tesla on "Bloomberg Technology."

Wrong question. This is not about money. It's about control. Elon: "I don't care about money. I care about the direction of the company." He wants 25% control of his company. Do we really want a judge to have a say in a compensation plan that was approved by the shareholders in 2018 and now this judge gets the power to say: "No, you don't get what was promised to you." Very bad precedent.

Of course he should get this bonus. The value he gives, the fabrication process he implemented, the productivity, he doesn't have a salary, so it's the bonus his paycheck. Tesla initial IPO was $17 per share, today $149 per share. He deserves it.

Good points indeed! The stock was split twice as well, so comparing $17 to the current price is not accurate. It's waaay more than 10x. It was split 5 for 1 in 2020 and 3 for 1 in 2022. So 1x stock bought at IPO pricing of $17 split adjusted is actually relatively at $1.13 per stock now. Presently an increase of more than 11000% 🤯
