Syndrome's designer is Syndrome himself. The difference between Edna's costumes and Syndome's one can be seen in one detail, the logo: Edna's logos are rather small, on the chest and are rappresentative of the hero itself; Syndrome's logo instead is a huge S that entirelly covers him. He loved capes since he was Incrediboy but he did'n learned the lesson, since Mr. Incredible saved him from the bomb attached to his blue cape, the same blue cape that got him stuck in an Airplane. Btw, the cape's color is importante since Syndrome cape is black on the outside but is blue on the inside, because deeply he's still that boy that wanted to be a super hero ...

Yes, that was probably the style when Mr Incredible was in his early days of being a superhero, but fashions change, so the modern one Edna designed for him was different. If, however, Syndrome made his own suit (I agree that he did), he would be going off pictures of old superheros - ones just like Mr Incredible, and would therefore create a suit with a large logo because that's what he think superheros look like.

I don't think Edna designed Syndrome's costume because when the Hero activity was outlawed Buddy was just a kid, so when the supers were famous his attention would be on them and not the person who created their costumes, so after the heroes vanished, the only knowledge he would have of Edna is if he knew about her when he was a kid, plus with the technology he created and the amount of people he had working for him, I have no doubt that he or his people were more than capable of creating his costume, and with Buddy's superego I think that he wanted his costume to be a cut above the rest so he made it himself (or his people) instead of going to where every other hero goes for a costume

Batman's cape also has other functions. Yes there's intimidation as he is the "dark Knight", the symbolism of a bat and the fact that one of his suits' cape could help him glide, and his cape is also flame proof. Batman wearing a cape is fine for him, because he's really trained and highly skilled at combating with a cape without it dragging him down. There's also Darth Vader on the other hand(yes he's not a superhero but whatever). Vader's cape functionality served as a protection for his damaged body. It could shield fire, sand, and other particles so it doesn't damage his breathing system that keeps him alive. It was also used as intimidation again for Jedi when he hunted them down.

In the Supergirl TV series, she actually needs the cape to help her steer when she flies. Something about there not being ENOUGH air resistance for how much force she pushes herself upwards and forwards with. She needs the air risistance to create more traction so she can turn more easily. Kinda like a tire for your car.

Syndrome probably made his own suit. He's been making them since he was a little kid and a follower of Mr. Incredible, so it would make sense that he already had that skill. Not to mention he incorporated all of his own inventions into it pretty well. If Edna made Syndrome's suit, it wouldn't fit together as well once he added on his own attachments. Finally, Syndrome didn't just have an admiration for Mr. Incredible, but rather all super heroes. Seeing as how the cape is the biggest symbol of being a superhero, in order to look more like one at a first glance, he would of course add one to his own costume.

Later, it was also he that developed his "super" technology. It would stand to reason that with his money and resources, he would also craft his own suit, incorporating his technology into it. IMHO

Come on, Edna didn't make Syndrome's suit, that should be obvious. From the start, Syndrome designed all his stuff, and he intended to sell the designs later after he had his fun. If he went to Edna for a suit, he'd leave a bigger trail and then have to split profits with her. He put too much time and work into his plan to just leave massive loose ends that he can't cut. He couldn't threaten her, she'd have the government on him. He can't kill her, that would start an investigation. No, Edna had no hand in his death. Besides, if she had, he'd still be alive. Designing a suit for a guy with no powers? She'd have armored the heck out of it.

Sure she could keep all of the Incredible's costumes under wraps because she has been known to associate with them. But a new guy shows up on the doorstep of someone known for designing super suits? There's just too much that could go wrong for Edna and Syndrome for either of them to ever consider it, let alone get away with it. We may have to agree to disagree on this, but for me, there's no way it could happen.

***** The government isn't allowed to memory wipe people, Mr. Incredible's boss should be a pile of gore after what happened, skeletons can't pass for living tissue or hide it, and to really get into the nitty gritty of it, you can't legally sue someone for saving your life so the whole set-up for the movie would never happen. My point is this is a work of fiction where government agents can step in and cover up crazy amounts of information just to keep super heroes from being acknowledged ever again. And they would never have to barge into her house once, they could just monitor the outside, which isn't illegal. Making inquiries about someone coming and going is not illegal. Questions would be raised, and government has many little ways to make life miserable by drowning someone in red tape, all very legally. I've taken enough law classes to know how easy it is to manipulate the laws in favor of furthering investigation. Probable cause could justify a search, a government agent can detain someone for 48 hours without a reason (they do face penalties for abusing that), or heck, even a simple audit could turn up reason to continue digging. America is great, many things protect the individual, but when something is being actively prevented, intercepting is priority. Better to inconvenience than risk. But again, it's fine if you still want to think she could do it. That's the wonderful thing about fiction, it doesn't have to make total sense. We can agree to disagree.

I'm using real life logic and the information in the film, i.e. the fact that the government is able to swoop in on an office building full of people and erase their memories of the events they witnessed. They clearly have resources and right not available in real life situations, I'm not basing this on just wild assumption, the basic government rights to observe and investigate exist in real life, and can be assumed available in addition to clearly superior resources and rights. They don't even need these rights either, because they don't have to violate the law to launch an investigation based on the information. If you can't accept that, then I don't know what to tell you, other than since it is a work of fiction, we can agree to disagree. THAT was my point when I brought up fiction, you don't have to accept an explanation in a film because it ultimately doesn't matter in real life what you or I think about it. I find it unlikely that Edna designed Syndrome's suit. Technically, any fashion student could probably make that suit, students who don't know the risk capes pose to the people wearing them. All they would need is someone who knows enough to select and aquire the proper materials. Second, yes superheroes should wear capes if they serve a function. Batman uses his as a glider, and way to create that symbol he uses to make villains afraid. There was a show at one time called The Cape about a man who impersonates his son's favorite comic book hero to clear his name. In that one, he used a weighted cape that he could manipulate to use like a whip. So long as it actually does something for the character, I see no reason not to include a cape.

If Edna *did* create Syndrome's costume, it's possible we might get that confirmation in Incredibles 2. That is, _if_ we get an Edna scene. Granted, since it's Pixar, that's probably required. Though, it still makes me wonder who the next villain the Incredible family will end up being. It definitely has to be someone from Mr. Incredible's past that we don't know of yet. Either that or someone from Elastagirl's past, which would be interesting and give more development on her character and what not. I can tell it's gonna be awesome regardless of what happens.

It kind of does. Syndrome probably requested Edna to incorporate a cape into his costume so he could appear more intimidating. So even knowing that capes are dangerous, she still put it on the super suit, knowing that he's a villain. So technically she had a part in his death, but yes it was ultimately his ego that destroyed him.

Batman is the only superhero I can think of whose cape serves a practical purpose. It allows him to glide, it has ball bearings in the spikey tips that he can use to smack adversaries to confuse them, it is made of a flexible bulletproof fabric to protect him from gunfire, and it helps build up his his goal of being something mysterious and menacing to stop people from committing crimes in fear of The Batman.

For example: One Man Band could take place either after Wall-E, when human kind is rebuilding, and with their civilization growing, currency is becoming necessary, and thus leaving those who could not find jobs or the orphaned without any proper means to earn money. Or it could take place just before Cars. Human kind is at war with animals/machines leaving many in poverty, thus requiring many people to take upon odd activities to earn their wages. This is one example of how the shorts could fit into the theory.

I personally believe that both Edna and Buddy WERE supers and were discriminated against because their abilities were harder to visibly discern. They were obviously both super geniuses. The brain is a muscle, and theirs were stronger than even the people out saving the world. The difference between these two characters with the same underestimated power, is the way they handled rejection. Buddy, as we all know, harbored resentment and tried to force the public to love him. But Edna accepted her situation and chose to work with it instead of against it, and through her humility, patience and subtle cunning, actually saves the world from the background, and doesn't even step up to take the credit.
