When I’m buying gold, I prefer fractional pieces for several reasons: - Cheaper for me to buy instead of spending $2k for one piece. - Easier to liquidate in the future and I won’t be selling 1 whole oz at a time. - The premiums aren’t an issue because you get them back when selling. - It keeps me within budget on converting fiat to precious metals. - What happens in the future when gold is $4-5k per oz? Acquiring it is more costly, selling it can be more difficult, etc.

@@jellyg.8961 Yes but my point is that if you say pay 20 dollar for an 1 ounce silver coin + 5 dollar premium, you cant sell it back to the coin dealer after 1 day, becouse he most likely pay just 20 dollar if your lucky. EVEN if you keep that coin 100 years you still wount get that 5 dollar premium back. unless you yourself become a dealer 😁 but another matter::: in 100 years a 1 ounce coin probably will be wourth more than today becouse of inflation thats why i invest in silver-gold. Yes gold and silver prices goes down and up with supply and demand,, BUT they most like cant become wourthless over night like paper money does from time to time.

The answer to who will be buying at $25k? That is something my great-grandkids will be able to answer....That price will not be hit in our lifetimes. (And if I am wrong, and gold hits that in the next 20 years I may be around, - it likely will not be a society that will be friendly to live in....Everything as we know it would be a nightmare. - Everyone that did not have a bunch of gold laying around would not be able to afford to eat or pay rents/mortgages....We just think the ass-hats rioting in the streets is bad now, - wait and see how it would be if the prices hit that level in the short-term.) - It has gone from $200 an ounce to $2k an ounce in my adult lifetime, so it may double that again, and hit $4k in another 15-20 years though....

@robertprestonsr24534 жыл бұрын
I have been buying (mostly) gold coins for many years... In my view, or rather from my perspective, I value my horde of 1/10 oz. gold Eagles as the smartest acquisition of all.... First, it just looks good to pull out a small plastic container with over 120 shiny gold "dimes" which can easily be hidden away from prying eyes... (you can actually "bury" them in a big jar of pennies, for example, which a metal detector might spot and still ignore.. or, perhaps in a coffee can, or whatever... ) Next, over the years, the premiums paid for the 1/10th, (and the quarter oz. as well) just doesn't seem to matter very much... For example, if you bought many many 1/10ths at $120.00 to $140.00.. well, why worry?? My local coin shops are almost always out or only have a few 1/10ths... they are almost always the least expensive way to acquire U.S. gold coins... they almost always have the highest "premiums", but those premiums tend to fluctuate vs. demand... Just keep that in mind if you are dealing to sell.... My guys will pay me a bit more if they are out of them and need some for special customers... Notice too, how many of the larger internet dealers are always, "out of stock" or "notify me"... and of course, the smaller fractions are by nature the most "liquid", which is important... Lastly, when gold is spotted at $5000.00 per oz. ,,,, which it will be one day..... none of this will matter much if you just keep on believing and stacking, right?
@2is1gold4 жыл бұрын
Right. If your dollar cost average is well below spot price, premium doesn’t matter. I’d have 120 dimes too if I could travel back in time. I’d love to have that pile! Cheers!

1/4 is the sweet spot for me. I like having the extra 'jingle' in my coin box to play with, rather than just having a few big clunkers. It's an affordable coin to comfortably buy each month. And I figure I could sell to a wider market. I've also started adding British sovereigns, 20 francs, $5 commems to avoid the heavy premiums. All these coins are around the same physical size, so my stack looks pretty consistent. I guess I'm geeked out that way.
@2is1gold3 жыл бұрын
I like that size too. On camera, it's easier to show 1 oz coins, but I've always liked the 1/4 oz for a lot of reasons. Cheers!

If the dollar ever fails, having a balanced stack of silver and gold, and in fractionals - may be important. A 1 oz gold coin might buy you a larger item, but for food, water, and your every day necessities - these smaller coins and bars will be handy. Plus, if you get mugged with a few 1 oz gold eagles in your pocket - that could ruin you. If things get so bad that we are trading silver, gold and even things like ammo - you'll not want to carry all of your eggs in one basket. One of the main reasons we stack is to diversify our finances, so it stands to reason we should have a diverse cache of precious metals. That's what I'm trying to do on a very limited budget. That's why I think your advice here is very solid. I listen to a few different people on YT and there's some sage advice being given. It's easy enough to separate the smart from the delusion, and most of the channels offer good, solid advice - and I thank you.

Gold is a frustrating obsession and these vids don't help!! 😄 Some Gold miners back in early gold rush years committed suicide because they couldn't get enough or they went bust! Gold is frustrating to me because I want it all, it's incredibly tempting to opt for gold over the other thing you need or bills you have to pay. The gentleman who makes these vids sold his silver, that's an easy way to get gold quicker, especially on the price dips. Obtaining pieces no matter what size over time is so rewarding. It's a very slow process getting even 5 ounces, that's 10 grand! Think of gold as a TV, even if you buy the smaller screen you'll be fine with it, do you really need a bigger screen?
@sbentsen27146 ай бұрын
Having some is better than having none, I'd say buy what we can afford, and as the price goes up honestly we won't be bothered too much I don't think by the premiums, over time inflation is going to catch up even more so having gold when you have the money is better than not having it

The inability to save money is going to cost you a lot of money. An oz in 1/10 gold eagles is 3112.90, thats $681.4 dollars over the spot price. That would pay for another 1/4oz of gold. Not as bad buying 1/4oz coins but still cost of premiums would set you back around the price of 1/10th. So why not save up to buy the 1oz

I love gold as well. I personally think you need 20 of each. I kinda like the fractional stackers method a tube of each lol. Got my 1/10 tube done and only need three more of the 1/4 oz to finish that tube. But I agree with Silver Britches as well i like the 1/2 oz the more of them I get the more i love the size. Yet it seems to be the size least loved by most people. I wonder why that is? Anyway another great Vid. Keep up the great work

Thanks for the note! I know if I had 1/2 oz coins, they’d quickly grow on me. I almost need two of any size so it’s not an oddity. I almost picked one up this week, but it just seemed like a strange size!

I am an experienced seller if you purchase anything that you personally like for hobby reasons or collectible reasons don’t expect to sell something as fast as you would any size eagle. Boxes and COAs are nothing but a pain in the butt when it comes to selling it is easier to throw 50 1/10th Eagles eagles in a tube and sell it to almost any dealer or stacker for that matter. But try to do the same with a 1 ounce platinum 50th anniversary Krugerrand. Putting aside the world coming to an end. You can box almost any metal within reason. Pack it up and mail it to Apmex they will wire you funds. Sometimes I think that’s where the premium comes from our in our American metals. it is just less work And less thinking to mail out 20 1 ounce gold coins than it would be 20 platinum 1 ounce proof Statue of Liberty‘s. And forget about getting any kind of premium back selling anything that you purchase for hobby. My experience with items I buy because of the love for the sport (Putting aside spot price movement) It’s a losing transaction.

I’m with you on ease of sale. It makes so much sense to at least have a base of Eagles or similarly popular coins. Cheers!

Well I just purchased my first 1/4 gold maple leaf 2021 this evening for 543$, I think it's the perfect size. I do have a 1-oz gold buffalo and several of the 1/10 gold pieces. I've decided to go with the one quarter, it just seems like the best choice despite the higher price 🥇👍

I have bought all the sizes starting at a half of a gram up to a full troy oz. 1/10th is the most liquid of all of them in my experience.

I don’t think they allow people who lose gold coins to buy 1/10 oz, so I’m out, but I know they’re popular! Which is your favorite?

Diversification is key in ALL things. I believe 1oz and 1/4 oz is a good combination to stack.

Diversify. A little bit of everything. Most liquid I would say is the 1/10 oz. Depends on your budget, but I would say collect them all. Keep stacking, everything.

Solid plan. I’m sticking with modern, gov-issued bullion for now, but that still leaves a lot of options. Cheers!

G Majors: I agree.....a selection of sizes gives you more options when you sell. I have 1 oz, 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz coins plus a few 10g bars and sovereigns (which are slightly under 1/4 oz).

For every 10 1/4 oz. coins you could have bought another 1oz of gold. If you have to sell your gold for emergencies before the collapse you should focus on other priorities first.

Exaclty. I cant only convince myself to buy 1 oz. Anything less doesn't make cents to me.
@seminumismaticguy85754 жыл бұрын
1/4oz coins 1) easier if you only want liquidate a part stack 2) if you like different designs on your coins you have more coins . 3) easier to regularly buy a 1/4oz than an ounce due to price . 4) buying smaller coins more often evens out the peaks and troughs of gold market dollar averaging . 5) 1/4oz coins are part of my exit strategy for retirement.

Great video with common sense. I’m a little late to the party. I just started in this for hopefully long term investment. I purchased a 1/4 oz eagle and kind of thought maybe I should have waited to buy a1/2 oz. This video kind of eased my buyers remorse. Eventually I can get some 1 oz coins but it’s a journey not a race. Thanks again. Probably to late for the sticker huh?

I have similar mindset when it comes to gold. The 1 oz gold bullion as wealth preservation and the fractional gold bullion as emergency fund. However, I have to be careful now as I moved to a state where they'll tax you if buy less the $1k in precious metals. So no single 1/10th or 1/4 oz purchases unless you want to pay taxes. With price of gold today, not so much of problem as you buy two 1/4 oz, lol!

Id put that sticker on my welding hood for sure and climb around the iron here in Vegas. The thing about gold and silver is that it holds its value reallly well. So if the price for gold goes to $25k that’s not the value of gold going up that’s the value of the dollar going down. Gold will still be able to buy with the same buying power it’s just the dollar amount it represents is a lot more.

before watching your video I came to the same conclusion, 12 ounces of gold is the minimax of stacking beyond that it is hedging and wealth preservation

I agree with the smaller sizes for liquidity reasons, but I think once you have a healthy supply of fractional pieces, it just makes more sense to buy the whole ounce coins. I'm currently working on filling a 1/10 oz tube. Once that's filled, I'll be filling up a 1/4 oz tube before buying an ounce coin. Great video as usual.

I live outside the country in Latin America. I have to buy what is available. Right now what is available is new krugerands and maples in 1 oz size. I love fractionals and will buy them when they are available. In the US, you can be much more picky about what you buy. In my situation, I stack cash as well as metals. Cash helps protect you against the situation where you might have to sell metals to get cash. Depending on where you live, gold is not as liquid. No matter whether it is fractional or otherwize. That being said, I wish I had more fractional gold.
@2is1gold4 жыл бұрын
Krugerrands and Maples are both fantastic options - I'm planning to grab more of each. I'm definitely aware of how lucky I am to be able to choose, and how great it is to have such quick and easy access to local dealers (to sell). I can appreciate your situation and think everyone can appreciate your perspective. I'm trying to get a little more serious about bitcoin for the sake of liquidity. Feels weird to say that. Crazy times! Thanks for the comment!

If you look at old (historical) goldcoins, they were all like 1/4 oz ...
@paulpuckett132011 ай бұрын
Goldco guarantees to buy back gold at the highest retail market value. They also add a pretty big premium on the fractional coins. Coin shops won't pay that much - not even close. I bought from Goldco because it is the top ranked precious metals dealer in the country. I shopped a coin dealer to sell a 1/4 ounce coin. I was offered 1/4 the price of 1 ounce of gold bullion, about $450 at the time. Goldco offered $778 after shipping and insurance for the Australian fiat coin. Substantial difference. That takes the worry out of being able to recoup your fractional gold coin with its premium intact.

I own both sizes.. It’s a smart idea. Kinda of a wild card holding some fractional. The quarter and one tenth’s gold is ALSO "cuter". Lol. I agree with the idea of fractional fitting in to the odd places, (in this game) that the large chunks don’t really fit in.
