Should I Get My CPHR In Canada?

Okay on this issue. I would have to take you way back to 2004 or 2005 when I was completing my Human Resources "Certificate" course. Keep that in mind "CERTIFICATE" when the CPHR was created in order to write the NKE people must have a "Diploma" course. So told this to my Program Director Susan Andree in Winnipeg Manitoba where she works in Red River College in the Human Resources Management program department that with this certification I can't write the exam for the CPHR. She wasn't having this and told me not to worry what you are telling me is "misinformation." So when completing the program 2011. I reached out to my other post-secondary Intuition University of Manitoba and was offered only the transfer of 3 credits from Red River to UofManitoba and have to take 8 more courses from that university in order to get the only Human Resources "DIPLOMA" in Manitoba. I had no help from my provincial organization at the time HRMAM (Human Resources Management Association of Manitoba) and told them this move will disqualify people taking the HRM program in Red River the person I told this by the name of Lori Thomas told me not to worry. It will get smoothed out. Then there were changes which at this point don't recognize my attained educational learning as you can see on this web-page provided: www.cphrmb.ca/page/paths So in conclusion in the short term will I get my CPHR totally impossible in the medium term could but again might not. In the long term if (*Knock on Wood*) in the industry for 15 to 20 years I might for again when you yourself personally in the consulting business.

That was helpful information. In my case, I have more than 12 years of experience in HR including 5 years in management role in my local countries. But I’m exploring to move to Canada. Do you think having the designation would help me getting the mid-high level HR jobs? Thanks in advance for your answer

Thanks for the feedback! In my opinion the designation would definitely be credible. Many employers require this certification for HR positions. Good luck!

I would suggest checking out your provincial HR Association's website for the details of the requirements in your province.

All the best with the MBA! To get started with CPHR, I would suggest joining the provincial association CPHRNB. From there you can get familiar with the organization, its processes and even meet some new connections. Good luck!
