Should I get one or two Budgies - Step 3

What I did was get one budgie over the summer, and trained it, had it get used to me, all that jaz. About 2 months later I got another, just a few weeks before school started. I trained it and they love each other like I love my brother xD. And that’s my budgie story.

I did the same and my 2 are now tame and love each other. Just recently I acquired another budgie and he is not tame. He seems to get along with my 2 tame budgies but should I get a partner for him?

I think 2 would be better because if you had to do a 24 hour shift and your budgies can interact with each other whilst your gone

i love all your budgies! i am planning to get a budgie too and here is my tip: take 1, when its tamed take a second one and tame the second one, or let the first one climb on you to let the second one follow,

How much time is enough time? I’m retired, I’m home all day. I spend (interaction one on one) about two to three hours a day with mine. She’s new, I’ve had her a little over a month. And was like a wild bird when I got her. Completely traumatized from being in a cardboard box for I don’t know how long...She has tamed and calmed down some.... still won’t sit on my finger or hand. But I am home with her all day almost every day. I go out to go shopping, doctors or dinner with my family. Once a week. Is talking to her all day and singing enough? Even though I’m only right up at her cage interacting a couple of hours a day?

I have a 3 year old female budgie named Moe and today I got a new one named GooGoo I think it’s a boy but it’s very young and kinda nervous about the new surroundings and stuff. I want to introduce them but I was told to keep them separate for awhile like a week or two is that right or is it fine to let them be together now

I had 2 but one died and then the other one died from deppresion... We got a new one but only one this time i dont think he likes toys

if it's really new, then he needs time to accommodate and get comfortable in his new environment, then when he's comfortable enough he will start to explore more and play. they sometimes need a bit of as time to start playing with a new toy , or sometimes as you said, they just don't like it

@@BudgieWorld if you just got your budgie obviously they would be scared if you put toys in their cage cause they are not settled in their new cage/environment

You have to try all different kinds of toys but yeah sometimes birds just arent that interested. I'd keep trying though and make sure he has tons of playtime with you. He could be depressed which is why he isn't playing. My family's birds love to watch out the window

Hi, thank you for making this video. Quick question though, I have all the time in the world to interact and play during the week but on weekends I am often busy. Is it possible to get 2 birds at the same time and train them during the week but still so they have a friend if I go out for the weekend? I am not out all the time just occasionally when I visit family I am gone for several hours. I still want my birds to talk and bond with me and be able to be tamed, but I want them to be as happy as they can be. I can't start with one and bring another one in later, however, because I don't have the room to get more than one cage, is it okay that they are in the same cage if I bring a second one in after starting with the first one? Sorry if I asked too many questions, I am looking into getting a friend since my cat passed away and I want a pet to keep me company during the day.

Hello, thanks for your videos. I am thinking about getting a hand fed budgie, but I travel a lot by car sometimes for full 1 day roadtrips. Do budgies handle traveling? Can they use to it, or shall I wait until my life gets more stable? Can car travel damage their health?

My budgie LOVES going out in the car, even to the point he will leave his big cage and sit in his travel cage waiting to go out with me for the day.

I am planning of buying two budgies, a male and a female, I want to tame them, so that they sit on my fingers and be comfortable with me. Its ok if it doesn't learn to speak (the male)....Will it be difficult to hand tame both of them?

I mean 1 would be easier to tame than 2 cause if you have 2 they would not get your attention and im trying to tame 2 budgies but they are scared. I talk to them in a soft relaxing voice but it will take a while

Budgies are very energetic so it most likely wont sit there for more than a minute (unless it decides to sleep). If you want a really calm bird that'll just sit on your shoulder for hours, cockatiels are the way to go

usually they don't, more than one partner can actually cause some problems, however in a very rare situations I've heard they do. but I never encourage that
