i think you should cut it into a bob style, you'll love experimenting with the new length, it will be healthier , and you'll have a fresh new look. Your length will be back and healthier before you know it.

How about cutting it in a layer cut. This way you can keep a lot of the length but cut the damaged hair.

Locs grow mad fast beloved. Just cut at the line of demarcation between the foe Loc and your natural Loc. Since you have color damage, it’s a not a good idea to put the added stress on your locs by adding foe extensions. Even crocheting can bring damage that you will end up cutting in the end. In a year your locs will be the length of your hair currently. This is also a awesome time to experiment with cute styles while growing your locs back out.. Your hair has really thickened so a Bob would be gorgeous for the summer.. Cool and Cute.. can’t beat that! Your adorable either way.. All love and Blissful living to you and your beautiful family! Ase’ 💃🏾☺️💎

The heavyness of the extensions might be weighing the locs down due to its density, and needs to be cut, also being a new mom your hormones have been all over the place and as we know our hair can shed. A Bob sounds like a great idea, especially if you’ve always wanted one, new style, new journey. All the best whatever you choose to do 😃

Girl, let go of the damage and cut that bob. It would be beautiful and a huge stress reliever for you. You’ve had to do so much to upkeep the extensions and whatnot. Shorter hair is a wonderful for new moms, too. Faster wash, faster retwist - and it will grow faster since it’s healthy.

Hi Desiree. My hair was at bra strap length and the ends always smell moldy. Not matter what I did. So I cut them in a bob last year November. They are almost to my collar bone again. I don't plan to grow them to grow them back to bra strap length. I love my hair and I am enjoying this new lengthy journey. Thanks for being open and keeping it real.

We both start our locs together. I remember when you started and how exciting it was for you. The ACV rise is bad for very soft locs. I did that once and never ever again. You have to consider using something like conditioner washes on you locs and clarifing but condition shampoos on your roots. This helps to build my hair back up after that acid rinse rinse. I had way too much shed both times I tried. I've been using Palmers Olive Oil shampoo and conditioner for the past 6 years. Two years when I had an afro and 4.5 years since I've been locd. I have tried the diluted Dawn soap option, for the past 3 years (every 6 months) and the dish soap was way better than ACV. Zero shed and thinking ever since. As soon I as I'm able to feel my hair become half dry then I add my Shea butter from root to ends and then continue to dry my hair and seal the fresh Shea butter in. Cutting into a bob is a good idea. You'll grow past this point. Either way whatever you decide, you're still beautiful ❤️.

Hey! Try the aphogee shampoo for strengthening them and repair. Also the macadamia shampoo and hair oil. You can find it at Sally’s or on Amazon. I bleached my 2nd set of locks and then at just one year retouched with color that matched. These two products work great! Hair stays soft and moisturized. These products also help after acv rinse. I also used to deal with build up. Since just using oils and retwist with flaxseed gel I made. No more build up. Hope this helps😊

I miss my length of my loc, but I had the same issue. I combined in my locks 3 years ago and they started to grow out, the two strand twist I got sick of looking at. If you're thinking about cutting your loc, now that your at home with your baby might be the best time.

Des!!!! 1st off, whatever you do to your hair will look great! 2nd I think you and your hair look absolutely gorgeous in this video 3rd I think if you want a change go for it! You are a new mom, and a new "do" might be a nice personal change for you, and it is summer, so this is the perfect time for a cut! Who knows, a cut might aid in your roots locking up the weight of the locs might be contributing to it taking much longer to loc... always remember patience is key!

Hey sis so sorry to hear this I feel your pain. I think it could be the colouring as you went through the same process as me from Black to Brown only thing you didn’t bleach your Locs I did!! 😩🙈. Please don’t tie knots in your Locs it will cause even more damage as the weight of the knot can weaken your hair strands. Remember also you just had a baby so your hormones may be all over the place your hair may go through lots of different changes. Cutting is good there’s no point holding onto damaged hair. Do what you feel is comfortable for you and your Locs. The extensions on the end may also be weakening your Locs as it’s added weight just a thought. How often do you retwist? 🤔 Whatever you decide to do I’m sure you will be happy with the results. Love peace and Blessings. 😇
@XxxJAExxX3 жыл бұрын
I definitely think you should do the bob. If it’s been on your heart to do it then you won’t be happy until you actually experience. That’s coming from someone that has had a fade multiple times, all types of undercuts and shaved lol. When you have the itch to cut it i say you should just scratch it. And always health over length, you’ll be much happier that way and it will look sooo good on you. Alyssia’ Dawn has couple videos you may be able to check out in cutting on your locs if that’s what you decide to do.

I think that adding a good conditioner to your routine would be huge to get your locs back into a healthy state and you can trim as you go along. Also I know there is this "gasp" with brushing locs but I have seen with my own eyes how brushing with a soft bristle boar brush can help so much with keeping lint and build up out, distributing your oil and adding sheen through out your locs overall just making locs look healthier. I think if you do cut maybe go for a slightly layered look because I think it will give you a fuller look and camouflage the thinning as you get your hair back into a healthier state.

Just went through what you went through. I cut my damaged locs down. I cut out retwist. Stopped using products. Water is great for our hair. Keep your hands out of your hair and just let it grow. As far as your hair feeling weak at the bottom is normal. It's where your hair started it's process to become a loc and now that your hair has grown into the locs the part where it first started is now a dead end to be clipped.

I think you mentioned Yannie (who is awesome) but Curlynugrowth is another great resource. the ph of ACV + baking soda can make your hair really dry. I think ACV is better for conditioning and baking soda is better for clarifying. apparently these two shouldn't be combined but the trend continues lol idk. I am about to start my ongoing clean up too. I started having my hair done by someone and I cannot stand the buildup and thinning. going back to the basics. really appreciate your vids because they've been my thoughts at various times in my 4 yr journey too :) we are in this together. and if you chop and start a new head of Locs - just think of all the wisdom you'll have this time around (silver lining) you will do less and use less.

A cute cut would help with your areas of concern. This way the damage is gone and you can start a healthier hair journey. I just recently cut my locs off because of thinning areas and just not desiring to maintain them anymore. It’s what’s working for me. So, you have to think about what’s best for you and your lifestyle. Also, it’s great to include your hubby in a decision like that. I did the same before any change to my hair.

Siis I bleached my locs when I first started them . 4 years later and as soon as I'm approaching the 4 year mark my microlocs start breaking on the ends. I was soo hurt because I was all about length lol. I ended up having to just give myself a haircut and take off about 6-7 inches off my ends. I felt so much better once I did it but it still ate me up that my hair was shorter. Anyways I started getting into that health over length thing and now I don't feel so bad. Plus I see my hair constantly growing and that's what is helping me accept the fact that I had to cut off a lot. Will never color again. I feel like you should give yourself a overall haircut (on the ends) so you won't be hunted with breaking ends. If you know color has caused damage don't stress yourself out holding on to it. Let it go, you'll feel free again in the end. Plus who knows, you might start actually noticing it growing faster

I think out of these options, I’d probably go ahead and cut them. It seems like you’re really not happy with them as is and that is honestly the only tactic that will alleviate the problem in the long run, leaving you with healthier, non color damaged hair to grow long again in the future.

I think you should trim the bad parts off and maybe professionally get it cut and styled in layers 🤗

Do a loc bob! I did one last year and my hair is already back down my back… my hair grows fast but the bob is fun and a lot easier. I had to cut off my bleached ends because it was a mess. Even crocheting a loc extension on colored locs is a problem because the hair is usually too damaged.
