Wonderful. That is how we attained pure breeds anyways. Pure breeds are actually a mix we just continue to line breed that mix. Adding new blood from a breed that performs a similar function keeps all those instincts in the genetics. Beautiful puppies. Love that you are mixing wonderful parents.

I THINK YOU ARE 100%. The issues take place when unscrupulous breeders start doing mixing and breedings for the pure sake of selling garbage puppies, that eventually end up in shelters. NOT A GOOD THING FOR THE DOGS. Thank you fro sharing your knowledge with us.

Very good! Every population need genetic variety to stay healthy and thrive. One of the reasons the GSP has many health issues is because it stayed too pure bred for too long, too much inbreeding. So mixing with a good healthy similar dog like the malinois and than bringing the cubs back to the GSP will help a lot the german shepherd.

Very nice considerations. I agreed very much with your opinion. People forget that open breeding will recall all basal traits within the involved lines. When you mix with well known lineages you are actually doing something like a open breeding, balancing known traits, weekness and strongness.

They started to mix in LGD dogs like the Alabai ,Cacausian Ovcharka and the hunting dog Sibirian laika. The Veo dog,is a very powerfull guard dog,but you have to keep in mind,that when you mix in mollose dogs in the German shepherd. You will get a more stubborn dog. The people who are completely against mixing dog breeds are most likely dog show enthusiasts or just people who don't have experience with working dogs. Ask many protection (mainly the "bandog" breeders) or hunting/catch dog breeders and you will find plenty of mixes. Lots of pitbull/hound mixes in the hunting world. The point of the mix, though, has to be pairing two individual dogs that complement each other well, both in their physical and mental characteristics. I think when you're talking about working dogs, "breed" is of secondary performance to the INDIVIDUAL dogs being bred and the lines that they come from, and when you pair two dogs that compliment each other well.
@skyforgerpack3645
@skyforgerpack3645 2 жыл бұрын
The dog show enthusiasts are the same people ruining breeds like German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, too. Dog shows like that need to be outlawed. I had seen this one show, where they would take dogs and have them run through obstacle courses, scent work, then bite work near the end. Now THAT'S a dog show.

I'm familiar with working dogs and I'm not a big fan of mixing types. Two herders is much more likely to yield a positive outcome IMO. I have a F9 bandog and she still possesses major weaknesses with bully defense drive and mastiff nerves. I just don't know if breeding can be tight enough to have consistency when types are mixed.
@mansondevil33
@mansondevil33 2 жыл бұрын
@@jfkst1 I mean there's never going to a breed with all perfect dogs, but consistently good, deep generation "bandog-type" lines definitely exist. The best example would be the Doggo Argentino, although breeders seem to be overproducing and selecting good dogs from what I have heard. In the US we have Manson Family Bandogs and American Sentinel K9s, as well as some other smaller programs with good lines. Slovakia has some good programs with really tight, consistent lines like Andante and Camorra, about what I've heard good things. I have no experience breeding, but from what I hear, I would agree that finding consistency takes a lot of work and the dogs selected need a lot of vetting in terms of pedigree. Take my opinion for what it's worth.

We do tracking training, obedience, and will add new areas as we see what he does well and is happy doing. I just read a comment by a woman in Los Angeles who was gushing about the GSD/Husky mix she would be bringing home in two weeks, and what a beautiful dog it would grow into. That is pretty f'd up to me, neither breed likes apartment/city living and the high temps common there (I used to live in Pasadena). That sort of thinking, treating dogs like hand bags, is just pathetic and basically abusive. Neglectful treatment is abuse, and not providing for the needs of the breed YOU CHOSE to take responsibility for is just wrong.

One advantage of crossing Mal and GSD lines that you did not mention is the addition of genetic diversity to the line producing healthier dogs in the long run and avoiding genetic conditions that may appear even in responsible breeding. It sounds like you bread responsibly so there may not be a difference in the first generation but I’m almost positive a difference in overall health would be seen several generations down the road.

You are correct regarding working dogs in Europe don't have pedigree. This simply because they are not the same as the established breed and they are only bred based on what they can do. The military unit that is growing them is not selling them to the public and in most cases are not suitable for pets. They could even have wolf in the blood on purpose or by accident. The point is when you sell this dogs to the general public you are giving something that not many people are ready to handle.

I wonder , how with out less body weight and lean muscle mass are you trying to obtain the Nitrous of the Malinoi, isn’t that the reason why Malinoi are lighter, more agile , cause of the very purpose of breeding, heavier bone and body won’t make them faster, I like your channel, always an admirer, however, I believe each breed is breed for a purpose , the pure line should only be mixed with real facts and expectations, as these puppies certainly will compliment in some cases , the rest will be experimental..I prefer having two different breeds for different purpose complimenting each other’s X factor, moreover, a successful mix may have the stealth and agility that you are looking for ,,, finger crossed 😊

Mixed dog are generally less prone to breed specific diseases aswell.

@1packatak 2 жыл бұрын
But remember are still subject to all of the diseases in the breeds used. So if a Dane or Golden was used, highly likely to develop osteosarcoma. Certain other breeds could bring eye diseases such as retinal atrophy. Others, say Rotts, hemangiosarcoma. Boxer or Doberman will bring dilated cardiomyopathy. Instead of knowing what to expect, you can get a bit of everything.

Also, pure bred dog clubs (at least in the US) help to fund research on everything from tick borne illnesses (which affects all dogs) to breed specific things (subaortic stenosis in Rottweilers). 7 clubs, including the Rottweiler Health foundation, have just committed thousands of dollars to fund research in early detection of osteosarcoma. The research is being done through the University of Minnesota. Being able to identify osteo early will affect not only purebreds, but all dogs!! There is also hope that this research will be able to be translated to use in humans.

My 50% German, 12% Belgian, 12% labrador, and 25% mutt is amazing. He doesn't have the gene that causes typical gsd health problems. He's lean, strong, and a beast.

@@justagirlandherdogs615 there is many things that go in breeding ...as haz said I would want to find a line I can see a few generations of the pedigree Next I would suggest doing embark health and DNA testing along with OFA hips and elbows tested at 2 years old... Pick the right pair for your program know what you want from your dogs and pick the sire and dam who have the traits most likely to produce what you desire from the pairing.... and if possible talk to people who got pups from the same pairing and see how the pup turned out..no better way to see what you will get from your pup than seeing both the parents and how previous litter mates turned out.....again you want the results of this evaluation to display the traits you desire in your own project.. I search for things like good structure and joints or lines that are proven working dogs or dogs with calm confident temperaments basically before getting your stock dogs be sure to do as much research on the line your getting as possible . When picking your breeding pair you can't just pick two smart healthy dogs one has to benefit the other the goal of your breeding project must be present in every dog you breed And if for any reason you produce anything other than strong happy healthy dogs with a solid temperament that display the benefits of your desired breeding plan then you need to reevaluate things because something is wrong I also recommend finding a mentor someone with many years experience who can guide and help you over the bumps in the road you will come across with inexperience Finally before breeding be sure you know what you want from your breed or line and be sure you do everything you can to stack the odds in your favor of producing solid dogs Past that you just learn the do's and do nots from experience the more you do it the more you will just know from instincts I actually run a group on Facebook if you are interested in learning some more on wolfdogs or breeding we have a good team there you can also follow the progress on my project by checking out my channel here on KZbin at WhiteWaterWolfDogs

@@justagirlandherdogs615 KNPV here the Netherlands also sometimes has bloodlines crosses Pitbull x Dutch Shepherd. I think they do it for the dog to have more pain tollerance. I once had a 1/2 German Shepherd, 1/4 Belgian Malinois, 1/4 Groenendaeler mix. Best dog i ever had. Now i have a Dogo Argentino and a Dogue de Bordeaux X Rottweiler cross and a Boerboel. But all 3 are hellhounds, always find a new way to pull of a unwanted trick or get themself into trouble and slow in learning. I also had a Spanish Mastiff in the past, but also lots of trouble. I love them all, but if i compare. In my case the best dog was the one who was mixed the most.

If using healthy dogs, yeah. Some people claim it as no matter what, they're healthier. Just absolute garbage.

A lot of people may disagree with me but my friend and I produced Boxer X GSD puppies and bred a female keeper (50% Boxer & 50% GSD) to a purebred male GSD, we knew the grandparents and their health history. And health tested both parents. The mother is a crazy workaholic and likewise with father. I know how a 3/4 GSD 1/4 Boxer he has the working lines of the Shepherd but the /friendliness / outgoing-ness of the Boxer. Which is the perfect combo for my lifestyle he can be fully trusted off leash with 100% recall and will play all damn day. The only ‘downside’ is he doesn’t like to be petted / fussed over much he rather just play! (I’ll just add that we got all the puppies to good homes and helped with training and keep in touch) and will not be breeding again only as it’s not fair on the rest of the world.

Nah people who get upset over mix-breeding are just breeders who want people to ONLY buy from them because they make more money that way making propaganda. Most breeders don't even know what the fuck they are doing, I know 5 right off the top of my head (one is legit a licensed breeder yet comes to me when her dogs has the runs or is vomiting and freaking out because she has no idea what's wrong. *eyeroll* One of her bullies has skin issues yet is crying to me saying, "I have no idea what's wrong!" when literally bullies are prone to skin issues. I don't even breed bullies and I know that.) I am a CKC/AKC Non-linebreeding Siberian Husky sled dog breeder. I plan on breeding Shepskies for sled dogs as huskies tend to have way too much ADHD when it comes to listening for commands. These dogs will also be trained and worked on for protection or guidance depending on what personalities they get, neutering/spaying any that seem to even show a lick of aggression to cease anymore reproduction. All of these dogs will have Spay/Neuter contracts because I do not trust other people being responsible, I might not even sell any to the public pre-trained because Shepskies are a hand full and I care about my dogs. (remember, mix breeding can create diversity but it can also create problematic dogs.) If people from back then actually listed what dogs they used to make their pure-bred we wouldn't be running into the issue of no more diversity or 50% of a pure bred dogs being related to most of its breed because of inbreeding. We could also make more of that breed with enough time. Dobermans are a great example of good mixed breed dogs.
