I meet her criteria. I'm just so miserable at my job. Every day I wake up under extreme worry. It's not my manager, I will say that first and foremost. And my co-workers are fine (give or take one senior rep but I like them anyway). It's just the job itself and the people I service. It feels like a job I held before, that gave me a nervous breakdown, and I never want to go through that again. My hope is to get back into my previous role with the company which I am currently interviewing for (it's procedure), and if I don't get it, then I'll give it a few more months but then I am out. I want to at least say in the current role, I gave it a year.

I want to do this but I feel pigeonholed in my career. I could last years on savings, but my most recent skills are in an extremely niche area. I make good money but the stress and demand are overwhelming and it's getting worse by the day. The demands of my job make it almost impossible to look while I'm working (constantly out of town etc.). I feel trapped.

Me either. Want to leave but the money is pretty good. Have lots of saving, but will plan to leave in 2 to 3 years and take some break.

I've had enough of my job. I worked there for 7 years and I never liked it. It was for thr money, and I've been looking for another job during those 7 years. Nothing. I'm just gonna quit now, even if I have nothing lined up.

I've recently had to do this. Restraunt field is out of control right now. The stress of being so under staffed..being stretched so far, I couldnt leave the work stress at work.. stress was causing emotional damage, and my mental health..been saving, and as bad as seems, also got a loan on my 401K to use as a cushion.. just couldnt take it anymore..gave them almost 6 years of amazing service..and felt overworked, underpaid and underappreciated for SURE.. its ideal to have another lined up..but we dont live in a perfect world..we were responsible with stimulus monies and taxes, so were ahead by a month on revolving household Bill's.

Not a good idea, but it you really feel like you have to, do it. Especially if the workplace is toxic, whether it’s with coworkers or scheduling issues.

Good point about acknowledging how you feel. It takes some time to accept that you know. Building on that, I think it is best to make your move when you are able to look forward to your future instead of just dwelling in your current situation, when you have gotten past blaming ourself, feeling like a failure, or blaming others and when you have a solid plan that you can focus on and execute that covers your mental, emotional, and financial well being, You are also ready if you have the resolve not to accept a counter offer..

I’m currently on the fence with this. I would like to move out of state and into a new industry, but job hunting is hard when you’re not physically in the state.

Thank you for making this video! It was very helpful. I am in situation now that I have a good reason (toxic environment & long commute) to leave and more than 6 months of savings. I really wanted to secure a job before submitting my resignation... I feel really drained by my current job and job hunting/going to interviews is stressful. I think that having few weeks of break will do good things for my mental health.

I have 0 savings, but would get a payout from my annual leave and could take out my retirement money. I work for the state and it has drained me beyond measure. I feel that if I stay in this job any longer, I’ll end up hurting myself or going insane. My soul is screaming that it’s time to go, but I don’t know.

Im from uk did that and will not do it again even though had saved for a leaving. Hopefully will start my new job soon as Im in the recruitment process and checks.I would advise anyone if you can take a break first and line up another job as it's even more stressful being without job ,sending cv and not being successful .It doesn't work for me I thought I will be fine but wasn't. Really think twice before you do it but I guess we all learn.Best of Luck to everyone .

Career break, sick relative (if it applies), switching to a new industry, burnout, department downsizing, laid off, values between you and employer were no longer a match, no room for advancement, etc.

It’s unrealistic in todays society to have 6 months of living expenses saved up. Most people are trapped in high rent, car notes, car insurance etc. unless you have a roommate or live at home with parents that is not doable for an average person who makes a pretty decent income
@CultivateYourCareer

In that case, I would not recommend quitting a job without something else lined up, or getting a temporary bridge job

What can a person of 10 years do if he decides to go without notice? The kicker is it is the only job he had in the city but he and his prior boss weren't cohesive with job challenges due to changes in the field unexpectedly
