Pete is gone.....I came to that ending today when Cohen commented on the negotiations. He plainly stated that he's worn out from the Alonso negotiations and also stated that Boras has not been reasonable in his pursuit of money for Pete. I am a fan of Pete's.....I love the fact that he always plays and I do believe he wears orange and blue on his heart.....but that doesn't mean that he should be overpaid. Walker got a nice deal this off season and the Mets offered Pete better than Walker money. He's 30 and if he plays better he will have plenty of opportunities to get richer in the future. Remember.... coming out of college many scouts liked his power but didn't think he had any additional tools. Guess what?? He has excellent power....but certainly lacks defensively and his batting average has gone down and strikeouts up in recent years. He should be humble..... he's done an outstanding job of making millions of dollars for himself and his family. Cohen should not be looked at as a grab bag. Markets decide paychecks and the first base market clearly shows Pete's offer from the Mets is fair and decent.

This is a huge opportunity for Vientos to prove he can take over at 1st and for Baty, Mauricio and Acuña. I'm actually stoked about it as I didn't and don't want any of these guys traded. Mauricio when he's set to.go, will make everyone forgot about all of this. Baty.... It could be his time to finally explode and all I see is alot of brightness concealed within him that's ready to shine. What I'd like is Acuña at 2B and Mauricio at 3B with Vientos at 1B. Until Ronny is ready, I'll take Baty at 3B and maybe in the beginning Ronny can do DH work and maybe sub in here and there until he takes Batys job which is what I envision. Mauricio is making the team at some point soon and he's alot more than just a DH. This is why I'm ok and ready if Pete leaves. An important door will be opened for the Mets to find out who of Baty and Mauricio is going to be their man at 3rd. Acuña won't be for 3rd in my eyes even if he gets to play there. He's going to be the next 2nd baseman. If McNeil lacks in any way with his bat during spring and Acuña outshines him in every way, the Mets gotta go with him and McNeil as a major utilitious tool off of the bench. McNeil has to prove that he is that McNeil that we keep thinking he is or the job is Acuñas to take. Then you leave the 3rd base showdown to.just those 2 individuals. Ronny vs Brett. Ronny has the edge to me. He's athletic, he has speed and he's a switch hitter and he's younger. I still believe Baty will become bright and a star. I just pick Ronny over him as my pick. Maybe Baty perhaps can become a valuable trade chip maybe for the deadline or before to keep making room on the team.
@jason7638Күн бұрын
With Vientos I also believe he will prove this very year that he can protect Soto. The Mets have their stud. I understand all of this silence from the Mets. Fans are panicking. I'm not. Just watch wait and see. You will see. At the same time, this will leave them in position to go all out for Vlad. But I'm telling you, these guys are going to shine bright. I could already hear fans saying " man....they actually don't even need anyone else " lol. At the same time this makes the Mets more exciting than the Dodgers and the Yankees. They will have a huge element of surprise. Noone really knows what to expect from this Mets team and people aren't thinking too much of it. They're not expecting for them to be as good as they're going to be. They're not expecting for them to be evenore exciting than last year. And that? I dig. I like that. I don't want a team that's so proven and so star studded every where that everyone expects for it to win. Where if they win and win it all it's not really a surprise. It's not filled with real true meaningful excitement and emotion. The question might end up becoming: hey is there room for Vlad? Lol I'm telling you don't be surprised. If Pete leaves and they get Vlad for next season or at the deadline, great. But don't be surprised. Their internals are going to shine this year.
@jason7638Күн бұрын
Inside me do I want Pete back, yeah. I wish him the best. Pete....the best to you bro. Things are in transition for the Mets so whatever is truly best for this teams future is what should happen. May the best happen for both you and the Mets. Maybe you should've taken that extention. You said no to it. You was thinking more. Hopefully you will learn from that. Exactly how much money do you need? 🙂 Let's just say, Vlad is the next Mets.1st baseman of the future and the Mets wanted 1 more year to spend with you. Wouldn't you want to spend your final year with your home team to look to try and win a world series with them? And you can help to put yourself in a position to earn back the kind of contract that you're still capable of earning ? If not with the Mets, with a new team? Or you just want to live off of 1-2 or 3 year deals for the rest of your career. Regardless you're making alót of money. May The Lord bless you. But I believe you still have a shot to earn a contract of 4-6 years maybe even 7 perhaps. But right now if it's 1 year you should really consider coming back to the Mets for 1 last very exciting ride. More exciting than last year. Look to raise your average and surpass your record. See if you can prove that you can bat 280-290. I think you have it in you. Maybe you won't hit this, but pushing yourself here you might bat 270. And keep showing that you're still improving with your defense at 1st base. This is tough I can feel.l it, but what has to happen has to happen for the team to move on and become what they're going to become now.
