@@explosivediarrhea4671 Unless Pete becomes more of a situational hitter which he refuses to do, Im not bothered at all. Pete can be replaced with a hitter who can do more with less. Pete didnt do much to contribute to the 89 wins, only the 2 HRs in the playoffs meant anything. Thats why the Mets made an offer, otherwise he would have already been gone.

People are crying about Cohen not willing to sign Alonso. But that's the owner's choice... respect it! Pete had his chance and blew it by gambling that Boras will do him one better... it didn't happen. As is, how long would Alonso be with the team anyway, had he decided to come back? The Mets are going after bigger fish come next year... Guerrero Jr. and Tucker.
@1BadPrincess13 сағат бұрын
Steve Cohen is a great business man. I trust him. You don't just overpay and set up a precedence for overpaying based upon emotion and sentiment. Soto got paid what the market dictated. Pete doesn't have the same options. If Pete goes elsewhere, it's because he wanted to sign elsewhere.

If Pete didn’t bat .217 in 2023 And didn’t bat to a LOWER than .800 OPS in 2024 … … I would be sad to see Pete go. But he bet on himself and ended up having two back to back subpar years. Pete can’t be too surprised why no one is offering him a huge deal after his 2023 and especially his 2024 season.

Why have they not signed Iglesias yet? He has proven more reliable than McNeil, Baty and Mauricio, who may not even be ready to play yet due to his injury. Regardless of whether they get Alonso back or they replace him with Guerrero Jr. or Bregman, they should have already signed Iglesias by now.

He's a lifetime .280 hitter. He probably won't hit .337 again but I'm more confident he will hit .275 than Baty or Mauricio. McNeil could go either way... hit .300 or .250. But Mauricio may not be ready by opening day and Baty may end up hitting .240. That won't be good.

Any competent agent could have gotten Juan Soto a huge contract. The real litmus test is what they get lesser players. Bore-Ass cons these players into thinking that they are worth more than they are sometimes to their detriment. He doesn't care because he's worth 500 million.

Ya Santander got 92m over 5yrs, but that's 18.4m aav.... pete was offered 23m aav.... Pete knows he bet on himself and lost with 2 down years culminating, with the final one in his walk year . He's not going to get the money he thinks he's worth. He's not even going to get the money/ years The mets offered him 2 years ago, which he turned down. Petes a great-Power hitter and is only second to Aaron judge since 2019 in home runs trailing by 6. But he's not gonna get a Soto contract or anything near being a first baseman on the wrong side of 30, who has obvious holes in his swing and is average on defense.

@richardzucker998522 сағат бұрын
Why should Pete deserve better when he declined 3 contracts that would have given him bank. Pete bet on himself & failed. Pete needs to live with the consequences of his decisions. Its not Cohens obligation to bail him out. Boras underestimated Cohens/Stearns resolve. I understand all offers were pulled. Let Pete go elsewhere if he wont accept whats offered especially after a down year.

I'm sorry. We don't need a Anthony Rendon contract. Did you not see Pete be anti clutch? If the bases were full or half full. He always struck out or hit into double plays cuz he's slow on the base paths. Did we see the same player? The past two years he's gotten worse. If he chokes during a contract year. Those paintings can be sold for more money. They have value. Pete, NOT living up to a bad contract, has NO value.
