I must be totally different here because I don’t see a Muslim with a cover or not as a terrorist but I don’t live in the UK. In the U.S. I’m constantly thinking terrorist when I see random white, American born citizens who are draped in our flag and have a belt full of weapons or assault rifles attached to their backs. Those are 95% of our problem here

What percentage of Muslim females know that wearing the face veil isn't actually a religious requirement. Saira is right, it's cultural. It comes from Middle Eastern/ Arabic culture. Growing up here in London back in the 80s & 90s you rarefy saw British Muslim females wearing the veil, the burka or the hijab. Maybe older women, but not teens or pre. teen girls It seemed to become popular amongst young female Muslims after 9/11.

Yes it’s not mandatory but some women feel more comfortable with it, why is that such an issue to some of you? In Britain it’s completely your own choice

Distinctly in school teachers need to see the state of children to carryout their role fully - religious of not, covering the face is bad in institutions like schools and I think general homogeny in society...in a country such as the UK with a wide range of freedom and protection. I think there have been two fears, external cultures overriding British cultural ideas (rather than celebrating culture), and more modernly terrorist activities driving this need for change - both lead to lower integration between communities...
