Thanks Dennis for the live! I think being into watches and personally invested into them as a dealer helps for building trust and reliability. I’d feel less comfortable buying a used Rolex or something of value from someone not interested in watches. I’d think they’re doing a quick flip and not invested in the product itself. But not sure if others see it that way

I buy from so many different dealers that I've never really prioritized the relationship. I do tend to use the same contact at 1916 where I've done most of my trades, but in the used space so much is defined by what they have in stock. Granted, they do all seem to know their watches and have opinions so it doesn't really run counter to your overall point.

I don't personally care if the dealer is a watch collector, but I do expect them to have a decent knowledge of what they have for sale in the store. I've had many encounters with store employees, especially in airports, that are not up on their own inventory

I've never actually gone into an airport dealer (at least recently). But I have found if the seller seems to know nothing, or doesn't advance the conversation, then my interest lasts about 5 minutes after I try the 1-2 watches I went in being curious about.
