I wish my schedule would allow me to watch live. But I always try and watch your videos on catchup. Having firmly settled back in to wearing dressier sports, to full dress watches, after a years long interlude of slightly too big sports watches. Your content is balm for my soul. Keep up the great content, I'll be watching. Have a great 2025 👍

Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, and even if you can't catch the livestreams live feel free to share thoughts as I do go back and read those (sometimes I get ideas on what to discuss next from them!).

I believe when there is injustice and abuse, we all have a right to stand by what is right. And If you have a voice you have a “duty” to help spread the truth. You cannot stand by the side and watch with indifference, that is how we end up ruled by despots and billionaires. I used to like Jack Black, now I don’t because he cares more about selling records and tickets than to stand by he thinks is right, whatever that is.

Certainly, one can have any sort of expectations. It is easier for artists because the face of the team is small (sometimes just one like my Taylor Swift example). A whole brand, like Ball, it gets more complicated. Not to mention the impression in the end is Ball had no position on the election, it was a rogue social media manager who let their personal opinion out on a company account. But the damage is done regardless. Had Tenacious D said nothing at all, most people wouldn't even talk about it. But since Kyle made a statement it resulted in Jack not backing his statement. Which was likely (in my opinion) driven by Jack worrying about alienating fans of his movie career. But of course the catch is others that love Tenacious D may have felt betrayed by Jack's refusal to support Kyle. It could be argued Jack would lose either way. Did he lose bigger doing (or not doing) what he did? We can only speculate of course.

Thank you for calling out Ball’s statement. I highly doubt that statement was the decision of a single employee.
@WatcheswithDennis18 күн бұрын
Hard to say of course, regardless it only did damage to the brand.

Ball Watch sent out a very similar Merry Christmas email to previous buyers a few years back. I had assumed it was a strategic marketing decision. If they know they don’t have mass appeal, then try to appeal to a niche.

I agree- Patek blundered with the cube - the cube will be a scratch magnet. Too many hard edges.

Excellent point, a big complaint many have on the Santos. I know those who refuse to consider the Santos because it is a massive scratch magnet. So would definitely be an issue for the Cubitus.

It’s nice to finally meet a non-coffee drinker like me! Lol

I have never been into bitter drinks so coffee and tea I avoid. It is why I usually have a can of something carbonated when I stream.

@ I like sweeter teas but totally agree!

Thierry Stern definitely said that the Cubitus would be an entry into the brand for new, younger customers. This matches the cringy ad campaign. But my AD confirmed that the Cubitus will be as difficult to get as a Nautilus, so Thierry Stern’s statement and Patek’s ad campaign make absolutely zero sense.

Hey I'm buying a bunch of Ball watches now.
@johngentile681417 күн бұрын
I buy a watch because I like it - nothing to do with politics or religion
@WatcheswithDennis17 күн бұрын
Most only want those factors hence why going, as a brand, into either religion or politics only offers risks. I'd say most people only want to judge the designs, prices, and quality.

And don't talk about your diet. Also, Ball Nightstaker Fireman was very disappointing and low quality for the price. I wanted to love the idea of Ball but returned to Bulova for a company in and out of the US. I agree that companies should just make products and provide services. The individuals within a company is a different matter. Bud Light made the mistake of alenating 80% of their consumers. Very stupid. Chic-Fil-A have been vocal about their morality and are still thriving. I don't think they publicly supported a candidate.
@WatcheswithDennis18 күн бұрын
Pity about the Fireman. I've never owned a Ball. Looked a couple but ended up going Marathon for my tritium fix. Chic-Fil-A is an interesting example and one I almost mentioned but I didn't want to stay down the political rabbit hole too long. I've felt they've been clear about their views for a long time (since the beginning?) and so if one chooses to launch a brand that way it can be made to work. Ben & Jerry ice cream on the other side of the ideological spectrum is another example of this. Of course, it helps if one's food is good and I think it works better for businesses dealing in low-cost consumables but that's all blind speculation on my part (I'm no economist and never researched commercial success and values-based public stances). That said I know people who refuse to eat at Chic-Fil-A just like I know those who refuse to drink Bud Light now.

@@WatcheswithDennis Great examples. Their are many but I would never not buy from a company because of an idealogical stance. I even want a psir of Birkenstocks for a long time in my sandal phase 🙂 I have reined in my watch collecting and only buy from 2 brands now where I know value and quality control are guaranteed. Take care.
