The Pod Go definitely deserves some more respect than it gets! I lead worship and play electric guitar at a bigger church and I built a board around the Pod Go. I have a compressor before it and overdrives/distortion in the effects loop placed before my volume pedal. I’ve found that with the correct IR, it brings some of the amps to life! I currently use the A30 Faun Nrm with David Hislop’s 1x12 greenback ir. People come up to me all the time asking if I’m running through a Kemper or if I have an amp backstage and are super surprised when it’s just the pod go.

My Pod Go does me perfectly for the kind of gigs I’m doing (functions weddings mainly). I’ve not played an HX stomp or helix but really have never felt that i was lacking anything. I’ve built a few presets and got everything else from Johns collection. Looking forward to trying it with the catalyst 100 this weekend too.

I love my Pod Go. I’ve never played a helix or hx stomp so I really don’t know what I’m missing, but everything sounds great to me and I love the footswitches. I don’t really have any need for insane signal paths, so it really does all that I need. Plus the bonus that it’s an interface should I choose to dabble in the plug-in world.

PodGo is the best amp I’ve owned ever use it every day for 6 years now no issues at all. Have had $2000 amps still come back to the pod just for the versatility. Click a button get the sound you like and you’re good. Takes awhile to dial in your tones but once you’re done they’re there forever 32 save files I’ve only used 16 over the 6 years

It seems to me that folks don't take the Pod Go that seriously until they sit down and actually play with it. When you start unlocking all the stuff that it will do, especially at that price point, then you start seeing the real value of it. I have been playing it at church for over a year now and am still in awe of what it will do. I will admit though, I can see getting the full Helix Floor just for the thrill of it. I am all in on modeling and all the options it gives a guitar player. The price point of the Go allowed me to jump into the Helix world and I never looked back. Please keep the Pod Go love coming.

I use my Pod Go for gigging and find that it's a great all-in-on solution for playing electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. I have presets for each and am able to quickly switch settings depending on which instrument I'm playing. I'm also playing with settings for my 5-string electric cello. I haven't used an HX stomp or Helix, so I can't say how those would compare, but I find the POD Go very well-suited for my needs.

Yes, please add them all to the folder; especially the El Camino... I have the POD Go and feel like it was the prefect choice for me. Yes, it is the least capable of all the Helix stuff but it is still very good and very useable. My decision was made based on the fact that I have never been a modeling player or a big "tweaker." I have always played good tube amps with pedals that are simple... less or more of something and a tap delay. However, the quality of the new modeling stuff from Line 6 was intriguing so the POD Go was the best "try it" option. I love it so far and if I end up using it enough I will eventually upgrade, but for now I'm happy.

I owned the Pod go first but ended up picking up a stomp for parallel paths, Timely helix updates and size factor. I prefer my stomp many times over compared to the Pod go. Maybe if I was a gigging musician I'd be more into the Pod Go. I do wish we had that LCD on the stomp though. It's very nice.

One of my biggest gripes (sometimes) with Helix is option paralysis. Kinda wish there were more 'keep it simple dummy, plug and play" type of modellers out there. Most of the time I set out to build a preset on my Helix, I tend to get distracted by the vastness of options available.

I just built a new pedalboard (which includes the HX Stomp) because I’ve missed the sounds of pedals. However, for the last 6 months I’ve gigged with solely the POD GO as a pedalboard into an amp…no buffer pedals or any other pedals…just the PG itself. It sounds more than fine and does the job quite nicely as a pedalboard. Sure, there may be some effects limitation as only 4 blocks are free for the user to play around with. But in a way the effect choice “limitation” really made me think about what I really needed from the POD GO. And also made me a little inventive with things such as using the dedicated EQ block as a boost so I didn’t have to use up a free block with say the Kinky Boost. As I stated, I’m back to pedals with the Stomp but I will still use the PG for rehearsals and some open jams I do as part of the house band. And for any online recording sessions I do I will most likely use the PG. It truly is a great sounding modeller for the price.

Hopefully not so late to the party. Long story short - I am a musician on cruise ships in Europe - my setup is exclusively the POD GO wireless (using a wired connection with a Klotz titanium jack to jack cable) going straight into two DI boxes for left/right. My daily driver is the Fender Deluxe Strat 2005 with SSS configuration. Pleased to say everything sounds more than satisfactory (always room for improvement!) with the addition of me using IR blocks.

I have a Pod Go and a HX Stomp, and when I play at church I always take the Go because of the extra footswitches, volume pedal and 4 snapshots. The hack that unlocks an extra fx block is useful so I can have a compressor, drive, chorus/tremolo, delay and reverb all in one patch. If I played guitar live more frequently (I usually play keyboards) I'd probably get the Helix LT for the extra versatility, but I wish they'd made the LT a bit more compact for more portability and not taking up so much space in a home studio setup.

The church purchased a POD GO for me to use and I use it every week without issue. I found it to be such a good tool that I bought one for myself to use for practice at home and for occasional gigs. I feel it is easy to use and yet, if you want to, you can really get creative discovering all kinds of tones and sounds to implement into your playing. In my opinion, it is the best value that i have found for the quality and versatility it has. They’re difficult to find used in my area so people who have them aren’t selling them. That says a lot.

I've moved from an HX Stomp to HX Stomp XL to the Pod GO. I use a Line 6 G50 wireless for gigs and it addresses the buffer input needed. I love it. Compact, functional, easier to navigate and move between presets and snapshots. Plus the incorporated expression pedal is a huge win! I just slightly miss the touch capacitance foot switches.....not a deal breaker.

I have been looking and absorbing every review and video about the PODGo and it simply seems to be a product that absolutely does a good deal of functionality that the vast majority of both novice, average and professional players can take some serious advantage of especially if you sit down with it. Any piece of gear or hardware, no matter what it is or what its for, deserves to be put through its paces and understood correctly, otherwise, you just do 1% of what it does, dont find it interesting and say its a bad product. I am DYING to get one.

I own all the Pods and the Helix (and some amps too :). I still record with the Pods as much as the Helix (weekly). They all sound like modelers to me even with good IRs and I’m totally fine with that. For me I find switching keeps it fresh which for me leads to inspiration to keep on keeping on :) This week was Pox xt week... and last was Pod 2.0 week, lol.

First - I love your playing. 2nd -the attractive thing about gigging with the Pod Go is that it can be used as an all in one pedal board. Personally I just started using it without the modeling through a clean guitar amp. The size, expression pedal, and number of foot switches is why I picked it over the other Line 6 devices.

I just sold the Fractal FM3 and purchased the POD-GO. The FM3 sounded great but there is just too much going on with it - very complex. Also i got fed up with only 3 switches and its functions just to change presets or scenes by holding down a switch or double tapping, and this came with bad lag too!!..So annoying. The PODGO is perfect for me and so much easier to use - love the switch layout. Had to spend a couple of hours tweaking and understanding the parameters for great tone which i now have and i'm extremely happy and enjoy playing again :)

I couldn't be happier with my Pod Go. I use it for gigs with a covers band. It's so versatile. I mostly have presets named for the songs that we're playing. I tend to use Bank / Preset Mode, preferring this to using Snapshots. No problems with latency. I run into both PA / Front of House and use my Katana 100 MK II Power Amp In, fitted with a Celestion FRLR 150w Triple Cone Speaker for monitoring. The perfect set up for me. I could afford Helix / LT, but prefer the portability, ease of use I have with the Pod Go and there's no compromise on tone.

I went with helix because it’s much more capable, and not that much bigger than the pod go. I really enjoyed the pod go though, and If I only had the pod go I wouldn’t complain, I just wouldn’t be able to get as intricate tones for vai covers and for my own pieces. I have the Pod Go. It's great. It does everything I want a multi fx pedal to do including a decent size expression pedal. I gig with it every week. Not having had a Helix I don't miss anything. Perhaps it's only Helix users that would find this lacking in any way. I like that the mode switch puts it into stomp mode on the fly with 6 options! A lot of pedals don't do that. Great for a gigging musician.

I'm a big fan of multi-fx. I love my Boss GT-1. It gets the job done for me. I love the COSM amp models. I also like the higher end GT-100, GT-1000 and the new GX-100. Headrush is also making great multi-fx. It's the way to go, from anyone from the novice to the professional. I knew a top session player in L.A. in the 80s who literally used a Roland JC-55 combo and a board of Boss pedals. He recorded on countless albums, did film scores, commercials, etc. And also toured and played a lot of weddings. He made good money because he could get the job done. He could learn any song in a heartbeat. And although he always came to a gig prepared, he wasn't lugging around anything more than he needed. A multi-fx is what he would be using now if he was still at it. For New York session players all they have is their guitar, but if they have the right kind of gig bag they can bring along a multi-fx and go in direct. Because of the popularity of these systems and PC based plugins producers often prefer players who don't insist on a conventional amp. Plugins are just easier to work with, more efficient.

@@timothy5974 I have owned almost all the modelers out there (axe fx3, Kemper, helix, a bunch of them mid cost modelers too)... honestly Pod 2.0 is still a great choice... you can tweak with your hands and within a minute get something usable. The amount of time I’ve spent menu diving on the others for 1% better is a little nuts, lol. If you have a looper put it in front, play a loop and dial in the perfect tone quickly. If I had to pick my fav, I’d say pod xt... it still has a lot of the 2.0 ease of use, but with a bit more effect options... fairly inexpensive used too.

I have the LT and sometimes wish I had just got the Pod Go. I like more knobs than the Stomp but the LT is too big. The price of the Stomp XL is too close to the LT to sacrifice the DSP power… a Stomp XL with dual processors would be perfect.

As I think I've said in the past, I've achieved the Justice and Black Album tones, so for me that's enough to consider the Pod Go worth the money 😂. Also, with the script mod, I've got the free blocks preset available ✌🏻 I don't need crazy stuff and super complicated signal chains, so this plus 6 footswitches and an expression pedal makes the Pod Go the right choice for me. After all it's only a matter of what one really needs in a modeler/pedalboard... 🤷🏻‍♂️ cheers 🍻

I think this just continues to show it's not necessarily the gear, but the players. You can absolutely get plenty of decent sounding tones out of the Pod Go. It kinda falls into a price category with fewer options. There's a bunch of cheaper modelers, and obviously great choices as you get more expensive. I actually just picked up a Stomp XL new for the same price as the regular Stomp. I already have an expression pedal so i'm super excited.

Given that you have both, you could answer all the questions you have raised here by doing a direct comparison. Make a patch on the Helix and then try and replicate it on the POD GO. Yes you would have to make it fairly simple as the GO can't create some of the more complex patches of its big brother, but you could at least tell if you can achieve the same core sound quality. You say that it not the point of the video , but it is the question most will want answering.

I love my Pod Go...I gig it all the time..its an amazing little unit..and I get complimented on my tone all the time. I do have one gripe though...the compromise on having to use a single channel amp so I can get clean and drive tones in one preset...drive is my main sound but I need cleans...so unfortunately the clean tones suffer...switching presets mid song is not an option ad there is a noticeable notch in the change...this means I don't use alot of the amps in there I like...ant suggestions @JohnNathanCordy ?

I think that the Pod Go is an excellent device for home use. Its has basically all the same sounds as the other HX/Helix options, but i would probably never go gigging with it. While the UI is very simple i do miss the more customizable features on my helix. I think for anybody who wants a tonne of tones available to sit and jam with at home (or even record stuff) i think its perfect. But if you want to gig a lot i think going for the more advanced features such as parrallel paths on the Stomp and others are really important. Atleast thats my 2 cents on what i have seen from the POD without using it myself.

See my impression is the opposite. If I was going to gig, I’d want the Pod Go for the ease of switching effects on/off with the footswitches. Ain’t nobody gonna notice things like parallel paths on an HX Stomp in a live setting. But if it was mainly to record, the footswitches aren’t that big a deal but I might want the extra tone customizability of the Stomp or the Helix.

Watch The Machinist if you are fine with films like Requiem for a Dream. It really shows how crazy good of an actor Bale is, and it’s even more nuts when you find out that he filmed it right before Batman Begins. The physical transformation between those roles is staggering. And if you like more fun/easily digestible movies, he’s great as the villain in Shaft (2000). And for something in between, he’s great in The Big Short, which is just an awesome movie in general.

Can I ask anyone out there what a "professional" guitar tone is? Sound and music is always going to be subjective and what is gold to one person is trailer trash to another. I think we should all be thankful for the plethora of effects available to us in whatever package we need, and if you cant get what your really want or need, someone will build it for you (at a price!). I like it but the memory is too small and you can only plug in so many pedals at the same time. I think spending the extra money on the Headrush Prime gets more bang for the buck and it's still cheaper than the helix.

If you are on a budget the answer is YES. If you can stretch a bit more, get into a FM3 which is FAR better. You could snag a lightly used one for not much more than a new POD GO. In a heartbeat I would chose Fractal over this. Now if you want top of the line, and something that will serve you very well for years to come, buck up and invest in a new FM9...if you can find one. The waiting list on the FM9 is getting really annoying- over a year and counting here but it will be worth it- I hope! Got on day2- not sure what gives. Others have them who got on later though Fractal denies it (I've seen it and verified it with others.) 😥

Either way, it's a steal of deal compared to the Pod Go. I was very glad to see you recently jumped into the Fractal world (as I previously suggested) and HIGHLY endorse them (as I knew you would.) I think you were referring to the FM9. The FM3, though not an FM9 is still very, very good and more than most semi-casual, guitar playing mortals will ever need.

The X5 can't compare directly to the PG due, primarily, to the lack of amp modelling. It's a good FX unit, but it just isn't as complete a package as the PG.

I gig with mine. It’s great, but I do use a buffer in front. That’s the only thing that annoys me about it. I recently ordered an HX stomp XL so I could build a pedal board around it since I use pedals in the fx loop. This way I don’t have to connect/disconnect my fx loop every time for setup/breakdown. Does anyone know how to take a PodGo patch and load it as a helix patch? I know the question has been addressed the other way around. I have quite a few patches that I love on the Pod Go that I’d rather not manually recreate on the HX stomp.

@@jim-michellekelly6495 i think the simple way to put it: buffers strengthen your signal and are often used to to keep core tone intact across long cable runs, or where there’s some kind of impedance issue (i.e. POD Go). This hasn’t been measured and documented in a “scientific” way for the POD Go, but if you want to test it, just put any boss pedal (turned off) in front of the POD Go and if you experience what I did, you’ll hear AND feel the difference when you play. I almost bought a new set of pickups for my strat because I thought the issue was the guitar. I hope that helps!

I don’t mean to be harsh (I really don’t!) but I have no tolerance for anyone who thinks POD GO doesn’t sound “professional”. Good grief, it sounds objectively better than 90% of rock records from the 80s and 90s and those sounds are classic and sought after. How spoiled ARE WE?!? If you know what you’re doing, POD GO can sound freaking incredible. The main thing you need to look at is it’s connections and functionality. If it meets your needs, GO with it. Another thing is when people rag on the original POD. That device is on TONS of classic records that the people griping probably love the sound of. There was an article in ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN back in (I believe) 2010. They took some of the best producers in the world and had them try to pick out the actual mic’d guitar amp vs several companies’ modelers. Not ONE of them could consistently pick out the real amp. This was 2010. ALL modeling is way better now. It’s a wonderful time to be a guitar player and you will NOT make a “mistake” whether you go with line 6, fractal, Tonex, Kemper, headrush, QC, Boss, etc. They ALL sound fantastic.
