I have always had cats. I love them. Unfortunately, since I am allergic to fleas I MUST have an indoor cat. Thanks to liberals, I can no longer adopt cats because they have convinced the sheeple that to declaw a cat is inhumane. Therefore, I can no longer have a cat because I refuse to allow an animal to tear my furniture up with their front claws. And, no, you CANNOT break a cat of their natural instinct to sharpen their claws. I don't care how many scratching posts you have. Thanks a lot, liberals!!!!!

​@@deborahparrish2201 It sounds like you heard a lot of misinformation about declawing. Once you learn the truth, we hope you will reconsider your stance. Despite the name, declawing is much more than removing a cat’s claws. In order to make sure the claws don’t grow back, the end bone of each toe is amputated, which is 1/3 of a cat’s paws. For comparison, this is equivalent to cutting a human’s fingers off at the first knuckle. The aftermath is extreme pain for the cat, and it *permanently* reduces the cat’s ability to walk properly. In addition, declawed cats can develop behavioral issues such as aggression, biting, and urinating outside the litter box. As a result, declawing is restricted or banned in over 20 countries. This movement for change is not a "liberal" agenda. It is an animal rights movement to end a practice that has been proven to cause pain and suffering. P.S. - There are numerous ways to prevent a cat from scratching furniture, and we know from personal experience that these techniques DO work. Should you adopt a cat? Only if you want quiet companionship from a pet that does not need to be walked during bad weather or late at night, will not make a lot of noise when you are away at work and loves hunting and killing any mice and roaches that get into your living space.

Because I have birds I have moths my cat loves catching the moths, she plays and eats them, she follows me about the house but if someone comes to visit my cat gets skittish and she runs and hides in my bedroom

@@belmum1689 FYI, I have birds too, and I put their food in the freezer for 3-7 days, it will kill any moths or other insects in the food before you open it.

I am 70 and a life long cat lover who has cared for many, many cats since the age of 6 and just recently lost my oldest friend to old age, dear Simone, who was 21 years old...... Spend time with your cat everyday. Pet your cat everyday. Talk to your cat as you would a dear friend every day. Keep your house clean and fairly quiet. (That’s good for humans as well as pets.). Keep fresh water and quality dry cat food out for your cat every day. Keep your cat indoors. The leading cause of early death for cats is the automobile. Love your cat and your cat will be happy and love you back.

Cats are gorgeous beings, i could hardly imagine my life without them. I had "only" two 6 year old kitties and I've adopted three more since last year. They were all strays, needed help, and they got me. Sometimes it's a lot of work but it's always a lot of fun and love.

Pets are like small children. They: * have feelings just like humans * love to play * get into mischief * throw tantrums * want to eat your food too * love to be the center of attention * can get excited when going to see Grandma/Grandpa * can get excited to go to the park * can be stubborn and not listen * hate going to the Dr's (vet) * have accidents * go to daycare * can love/hate baths * wake you in the middle of the night ... just like a toddler. Did I miss anything? lol My only kids are my feline furbabies. :-)

I was given a kitten when I was 20, fell in love, and have now loved cats for over 40 years. The only Cons I have are unscrupulous Veterinarians and HAIR. Mostly had Short Hair Tabbies in my life, their hair is no problem, but currently, the resident feline has medium length hair. the hair is everywhere. Oh, Well!!! Love a cat, you will be loved.

Love cats and dogs have both.😊my cat will tell me when he's hungry or wants to outside. He'll stand between his food bowl & the kitchen door. I tell him show me what you want, he'll either go to the door or to his food bowl. It's become a game. He waits for me to walk over to him even if I'm in another room he waits until he can see me & then meows he sits there until I walk over to him.

I am not an introvert but I love my cat. I'm more of in the middle. I love dogs but I work like 10 hours a shift depending on the day. I also live alone so it's not practical to own a dog for me.

Unfortunately we had a cat that would relieve himself outside of his litter box. We found he had a urinary tract infection and we didn’t know it until we took him to the vet.

@@douglasdingwall4915 lots of love in your house!!! I brought a 4 month old Alpha kitten home, and the first thing he did was do the crabwalk challenging the resident 8 yr old Alpha. It was hilarious! One swipe, youngster got put in his place. And yet, the alpha kitten tormented the 8 yr old submissive all the rest of his life. When the 2 older cats passed, the youngster really puffed out his chest and strutted around his kingdom! lol!

@@jameschan1791 That's too bad they never got along. I took in one very alpha cat when a neighbor moved away and left him. I had another cat come around and was always looking for trouble with the first cat and I used to chase her away. One day I found them nose to nose hissing at each other. I was a bit nervous at first but I approached the two cats fully expecting I might be getting a handful of claws, I pet them both at the same time, cat number two clearly was looking for a home and hadn't been pet in a long time. The next thing you know I had two cats and they became best buds. You never know.....they're cats.

My first cat was a black scottish fold/shorthair housecat (FD-fd), who I named Goku, and who lived 19 years. She died last year, I miss her Now i have two shorthair housecats and one long hair housecat, aged 10, 1 and 1.

We have always owned cats dogs we just rescued a small kitten too young to be on it's own. Starving with a bot fly maggot in his cheek . He's doing great now totally wonderful and so happy the scab just came off and yes we would adopt a cat . People who dump poor animals off should go to jail.

I see too many people adopting pets because they're cute and cuddly, but they don't know a darn thing about them. They don't know about vet care, neutering, feeding, litter box, cat temperment, grooming, or unique. language. In other words, they shouldn't have a cat!!!

@@catherinelw9365 Me too. my beautiful smart cat was stolen, and I suspect it was a former neighbor. The ladies kids sold drugs and stole motorcycles and cars. She has a bunch of wild grandchildren too. My poor kitty will have to live in that environment. I hope someone nice is taking care of him instead. Maybe a nice old lady that needs his spiritual healing.
