Awesome job as always! Your Ferris is a leaf mulching machine! We do all methods of cleaning up leaves. Smaller yards/areas we often bag leaves and larger yards/areas we mulch leaves if possible. Some yards we blow and vacuum out leaves. A few we even hand rake. Whatever it takes to get in and out in the shortest time possible based on the customer expectations and budget.

I decided after last season to offer it one way. If we can’t combo mulch and blow, I don’t take the job. Also trying to stay with the smaller properties as well. Thanks for supporting the channel! I’m horrible about watching videos. Most of the time I watch on my tv and it doesn’t have the comment feature.

@@ThatCrazyGrassGuy sticking to one method is always good, especially if you have a limited setup and plus a lot easier for a helper.

Appreciate the video on leaves. I’m solo and try to avoid leaves. But, have been doing some. I’ve been mulching mine with a push mower and mulch kit. Pleased with results. Much better than bagging. Thanks again for the videos. Best on KZbin.

That Ferris does an amazing job on leaves! I run non mulching decks with Gator Blades and discharge covers. They do ok, but leave windrows that need to be spread out. Thanks for the video!

It does do pretty good. The mulch kit makes all the difference in my opinion. I’ll probably just leave them on for good.

I used a chute blocker for 1 season. It dropped by accident and ran into a tree and bent. So, mulch kit it is. Do have to change mulch blades more often. Also, we don't cut wet grass. I use the old Husky to cut crappy 1 x yards for a premium.

I had the same thing happen to a chute blocker as well.

I’ll never go back. They worked well for us this summer as well. I cut too short a few times and that wasn’t good but other than that I love them.

Got em done! Of course when I went to get the mulch kit for the Z1 it’s out of stock. But I did just add the x blades setup to my 36” and my 52 and good lawd you wanna talk bout a difference, I can’t imagine how the x blades would do with the mulch kit also, you gotta try the x blade setup bro if you haven’t yet, it’s stupid on my 36”

Great video. When you mulch do you charge more than a mow job? Thinking of doing lawn care. Thanks for sharing.
@ThatCrazyGrassGuy2 жыл бұрын
Minimum for mowing is $50, regardless of how small. We range from $50-$65 per mowing service. Mostly smaller, subdivision lots 3-8k sqft. We charge mulch by how much we pay and how long it will take. You should go for it!

I mulch most depending on leaf type. Some are just easier to bag and look like crap when you mulch them. I'd say 90% mulch and 10% bag. But my bagging clients pay well...

I wished we had the option here to leave them at roadside, but mulching works for us pretty well.

@@ThatCrazyGrassGuy We can leave curbside, but in City Limits you have to use crappy bio bags that ain't worth a dog turd, unless the neighborhood has private. Mulching is good for the soil...

Nice job. Just depends on the property. Some I mulch and some get blown off. If I had a true mulch kit I'd probably be doing it the way you are.

What height are you running your blades at this time of year?
@ThatCrazyGrassGuy2 жыл бұрын
Depends on how deep the leaves are I’ll run full deck height of 4.5”. After that I’ll lower the deck to whatever the last cut was. Most of our yards are 2” right now.

This comment goes to anyone: I've been charging $60 an hour to do leaves. Not hauling away. Either just blowing into woods or piling up and mulching in the yard. I'm not trying to make a killing. But, not bidding too low. How far off the mark am I at $60 per hour?
@ThatCrazyGrassGuy2 жыл бұрын
That’s what we charge per man hour as well. Just gotta make sure to bid it right. I got beat quite a few times before I got it right. I overbid my time pretty much every time now. Nothing wrong with making a little extra if they agree to the price to begin with.

I'm in east TN and originally charged the same a dollar a minute and found I could charge $100 an hour without really hurting my close ratio. $60 is about as low as I would go now
