Mate i was like you about 5 years ago. Here's a tip, save up any Christmas or job money you can and start off small. Then slowly upgrade stuff instead of doing it in one go. Don't bother with flash in the pan components or making it look good at first, just get the performance foundation. I started out with a shit HP desktop, I then transplanted it into a better matx case. I then added fans, a rx460 GPU, ssd, more ram etc. After that I realised my CPU was a bottleneck so I upgraded the shit HP mobo along with the CPU. Now I'm 17 I have a job and never thought I'd have an i5 7500 GTX 1060 g1 3g 8gb ram and rgb fans/peripherals in s340 elite tempered glass case. Next upgrade will be better CPU cooler and rgb strips. Also, the used market is your friend, try getting a good deal on a cheap GPU and a i5 2500k mobo ram combo. Then wack it in a cheap case to start or something.

It’s not the hardware I’m worried to set up or mess up, it’s the software, like how do I decide what to put on my ssd or installing drivers etc.
@paulm2467
@paulm2467 5 жыл бұрын
Charlie G ideally you want your operating system (eg windows 10) and possibly a couple of your favourite games ( depending on the size of the ssd) on a separate small ssd and the bulk of your games, videos, photos etc. on a large ssd or hdd, you should also back files up regularly. Windows 10 will keep most of your drivers up to date but you'll probably need to update your motherboard and graphics card drivers when you first start. Paul's hardware has an excellent beginners series that takes you from part selection through to a full software installation and update.

If you just want a pc that works, and don't have an interest in the hardware or want to complicate things, buy a prebuild. My first real gaming pc I got in 2009, it was prebuild and I loved it. With my new PC from 2016, I decided I wanted to try building it myself, so I could save some money, and gain some knowledge. I had a blast building it, but not everyone cares about the components, but just wants a pc that can play games.

Cool. My PC is nothing special yet, in fact, just looking at my specs might actually make you pity me. I'm saving up about 500 dollars to build my own PC. This is what I have currently: PC Model: eMachines EL1358G CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 220 2.80GHz processor, dual core. RAM: 6GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 (MSI) Power Supply: 220W Monitor 1: 1360x786 resolution, connected with HDMI Monitor 2: 1280x1024 resolution, connected with VGA HDD: 500GB Seagate, came from an old HP computer running Vista. OS: Windows 10 Pro (x64) It's not very powerful, but for the games I really like playing on PC (TF2, TES 5, and GH3 mostly) it works decently. The problem is the power and the processor. They're pretty bad, and they severely limit what my graphics card can do. I bought the GT 610 without realizing it requires at least a 300W PSU, so a 220W PSU is one reason I feel like I have performance problems, along with my processor. The processor is the really weak part; I've noticed it going all the way up to 90% usage when running a game like TF2, resulting in anywhere from 30-50fps, occasional spikes with it dropping down to 15fps or lower at random. When I die though, it jumps up to 100fps :p

Haha. The "cost" thing is a tricky point. Once you really get into pc tech, you might like it so much that u prefer some higher quality parts and end up spending more than you planned innitially. When I started building, I just found a new passion and ended up with overkill hardware compared to where i came from (main stream 1080p 60 fps gaming). I dont regret any of it tho.

If you can find a prebuilt one with good price to part ratio then yes, go for it. I reccomend this HP gtx 1060 got 600$. It has a i5 8th gen professor and 8gb ddr4 ram.

NO. DO NOT DO THIS. HP and Dell and big OEM type manufacturers like that basically always use the absolute shittiest quality unbranded motherboards and power supplies that often, although not always blow out within 3 years. B4 I built systems I bought an HP 500-310a desktop and it was the worst computer I've ever owned, expensive, low spec and terrible quality. They do this so they can decrease the cost of the pc and in turn increase profit margins. If you HAVE to buy a pre-built, at least get one from a good system integrator like ibuypower (although even their PSUs are questionable). Build a system so you save some money, learn a new skill, build confidence in upgrading, and insure you are using quality parts.

@@Sean-gs7cp watch build guides and use PC part picker website. First pick Intel or AMD then the socket motherboard that will work with your chip. I'd recommend building your own, the satisfaction in doing it yourself is worth it alone. You also gain the experience necessary for when you need to upgrade in the future. I had a bad experience with a pre built. It was shipped broken both times. Eventually I decided to just do it myself for about £300 less. *edit* For those wondering, it took me about 4 hours to build but is actually easier than one would think

People saying, 'buy if you have the money', but why? For 1000usd you're going to get something just above average. If you have 1000usd and build a PC, you're going to have over kill pc. A better example of this would be when me and my friend decided to upgrade - I built a PC for £500 (have to pay for uni so tight budget) and my friend, who is well off, buys a pc for £850. Mine is significantly better and he's ended up spending more money to improve it. (Also, if English is bad I'm not native English)

uhm Hey, you missed some things :D fof. UK£ 1000 =1 290.5 US$ . Second thing : I'm pretty sure *overkill* is relative. Lets say an 1060 might be an overkill for him because he only plays minecraft,leauge,csgo on a 60Hz monitor, and watches youtube videos, but for you it might not do the job since you *lets say* want to play the newest games at *U L T R A* . But i might be wrong , if yes please correct me , but as far as i know the word overkill doesnt referr to how strong a PC or XY is :P

Black Friday does affect PC components, but I think Cyber Monday has better deals. And yes, the person above states, you can run a legitimate key of windows that has a pirated version. This also might be a better build pcpartpicker.com/list/JDJFVY Note, I didn't add Windows.

I want a pre built gaming pc that can play games such as GTA 5, Destiny 2,... on high graphic and between 600-800 in price. Any suggestions?

You could get one that will run 60fps+ on ultra if you just built it.

Long Nguyen I would recommend Cyber Power people make rumors of that they suck but it is pretty good for its price and will give you the graphics yourwre willing to play on however you do have to find a good one

What I would do is buy a pc pre built and as you have it you’ll learn certain things about computers that could help in the future when you make your own

@PC Centric Hi, any chance of seeing a video of you putting together a few different tier builds for gaming PCs? Maybe budget, mid and high-level ones for end 2017? Tonnes of vids from the US but there aren't many (or any...) UK content producers out there doing this sort of thing so it would be great to see you take up the challenge! It would also be quite cool to have your take on a complete system rather than just the PC components (i.e. best gaming monitors, speakers, keyboards and mice (wired and cordless). Thanks and hope this happens.

Buying- Pros: If something goes wrong, you have a warranty, and you can blame the manufacturer. Also, you don’t have to go through the trouble of building. Cons: Manufacturers sell the computers for more than they’re worth so they can make a profit, so you lose money Building- Pros: You save money, and building can be a fun and new experience. You also have more customization when you build Cons: For someone that’s new to building, they could easily forget to put in a screw or not lock in a piece correctly which could cause the whole computer to not work and they wouldn’t understand why it’s not working.

WeirdChamp that’s good. Remember to put in enough standoffs because I’ve made the mistake of not putting in the right amount before and it’s not pretty.
