So body recomp is just eat at maintenance and should work if you’re newish and 15-20%bf

That's a good application of it.

Hey mate, I've just finished cutting from 130kgs to 92kgs sitting around 12.5% body fat. I have decided to start my bulking phase as I didn't see the point cutting to 10% when I know I have gaining I want to do and I was very over dieting. Did I make the right call?
@ReviveStronger12 күн бұрын
Sounds totally reasonable to me.

Steve I’ve just finished a 16 week cut, gone from 180 to 160, not shredded but fairly lean just holding on to a bit fat around my lower back and glutes, but I’ve completely lost my libido could this be a sign I’m at the low end of my intervention point?
@ReviveStronger14 күн бұрын
I'd give yourself a bit of time eating at maintenance or a little above, it may just be a short term effect from dieting. Good job on the diet!

CUT
@FantasticRump14 күн бұрын
While already fairly lean, I find the hardest part to be shaving off that final bit of fat to finish the job, when all I want to do is build.
@paladindanse9813 күн бұрын
If you’re not competing then there is no point. Cut in order to gain for longer.
@FantasticRump13 күн бұрын
@@paladindanse98 That is exactly the point, but one could also hover between the 15-20 BF range to do this comfortably, it just doesn't look as good. The lower starting point just allows for a longer bulk or a better look. Take this with a pinch of cope.
@paladindanse9813 күн бұрын
@@FantasticRump being 12% is not “that final bit of fat”. 12% to high teens is the sweet spot imo. I don’t struggle getting that low at all though, everyone is different.
@FantasticRump13 күн бұрын
@@paladindanse98 Hits about home. I just ended my cut at around 12%, because the pace I got there with started causing sleep issues. Cutting any slower to continue feels like a waste of time, but having been at 8%, getting to 10% would have been sweet. Maybe next time.

i'm stuck at 12-13%. its better to cut until 10% or better to cut until 8-9% to have more freeway? i'm natty and doing this without counting calories. Just weighing myself everyday and waist measurement every day using navy calculator body fat formula
@ReviveStronger14 күн бұрын
You'll likely find tracking gives your more tools to manage & get further progress. If you feel good to keep dieting, getting closer to 10% is fine.

Honestly I'm 6'4 so I'm just going to keep lean bulking to 230 lbs and assess from there, currently 200. I made the best gains when not trying to stay lean at 170 which is skeleton mode at my height. Basically I've determined to not even think of cutting till I hit 225-230, because I know I can always lose fat easily.
@ReviveStronger14 күн бұрын
I wish you the best of luck, gaining more than 10% of your current BW is a lot!
@cuddlebear713213 күн бұрын
I am 6'3, reached 210/215lbs and thought okay wow if I cut I will be 200lbs and shredded. I way overestimated how much of that weight was muscle. I wasn't fat at all but like 20/21/22% bf. I've settled down to 190ish at 15% bf and just gonna ride the wave and see what happens. IMO shape over size every time

I'm also 6'4" and while I would agree that 170 is quite lean for our height, if you think you'll gain all the way to 230 without gaining significant body fat, I would like to pray to the gods of lifting that you pray to. For reference I'm currently 190 in a lean bulking phase. When I was around 183 lbs and quite cut I got compliments in the gym from strangers near daily on my physique - suffice to say that you don't need to be massive to have a great physique! If you're competing on stage, that's a different story I suppose, but in general if you were starting at 170, getting to 230 and thinking that a huge amount of that won't be fat is a bit naive. You're talking about 10 years worth of hard training kind of gains, not a single bulk
@jeffbunnell996113 күн бұрын
@@peterfarr9591 We'll see. Based on the mirror and 7-site measurements I'm still lean enough to lean bulk at 200 so I'm just going to keep going. I started at 170 and it's taken me a couple of years to go from 170 to 200, with stalling at certain bodyweights for a few months and then I bump up the total calories only a smidge like 100-150 and see the scale start going again. I try to take daily weigh-ins, weekly averages, waist measurements, visuals so I can "catch" any rapid fat gain. I'm not too fussed about having to eventually cut anyway since I'm naturally on the lean side with little appetite. Cutting is literally 10x easier than lean bulking, it's a breeze, so I spend much more time lean bulking to put on size.

WHY does this topic come up at all. Who is out there so confused about their goals that they are unsure whether size needs to be put on or come off the body? Literally two opposite directions and if you are unsure, you don't know your own fitness goals

I think the struggle is for most beginners who are skinny fat, and not comfortable putting on fat or getting skinnier.
