When comparing the Y to the GV60, I think you missed one key point - at least I didn't hear it - the Y is like driving a sled compared to the GV60. The suspension is just bad, the GV60 beats it easily in this department. So for me, better build quality, better ride, similar power, more comfortable interior, it's an easy win for the GV60. Plus you're not giving money to a turd.

My wife and I test drove a GV60P a few weeks ago, and decided this will be our next EV. It's fun how people comment with their opinions and assumptions when their entire experience came from a 5" screen, or what another guy with a 5" screen wrote From experience: This is a beautiful car inside & out. The interior is particularly stunning. The GV60P is also viciously quick...yet quiet and luxurious at the same time Also from experience: I'll be waiting to buy a low-mileage, used one at 50% off MSRP

I didn't want Tesla because I wanted cooled seats, motorized sunroof shade, rear window sunshades, physical buttons, luxury interior, V2L, heads up display, Android Auto/Apple Carplay for Waze, etc. I bought a 2023 GV60 Advanced for $51k. I've had mine for 16 months now and sitll love it. My charge speed seems to be faster than on this review. I have gone from 15% to 80% in 17 minutes. Electrify America sends an email summerizing the session so that is not a guess. It is a little higher priced but I feel it has been worth it. Some of that is still being at the beginning of a newer technology. In California, chargers are common so that has not been an issue. We had a 240 plug installed in the garage and I charge at home sometimes. It has been way cheaper than my previous SUV with a V8 - an Infiniti FX50. The overhead view on the camera, the suspension adjusting for bumps it senses in the road, the power and comfort, all mix for a great experience. I drove 4 different Teslas that freinds and family have. The interior noise, the poor build quality, the lack of intuitive controls, all were annoying. My previous V8 was quieter on the road than any of the Teslas at every speed. I have found the GV60 to be a redefinition of an EV.

Love my '23 GV60P. My range and efficiency have been significantly better than expected for both routine commuting and longer distance highway driving but that's not really of concern to me and 10-20 minute top-off every couple hundred miles doesn't bother me one iota. I drive somewhat conservatively - I don't mash the throttle, but nor do I baby it. I think it's an overall amazing car, especially given the current deals. And I agree - the interior design and quality is rather exceptional and passengers both in the front and rear have praised its comfort and features on longer trips. Highly recommend it if it fits your lifestyle/region. I'm in CT, both Genesis dealers I've worked with here (purchase and subsequent routine service) have been excellent, so maybe I'm an outlier.

Excellent review. I own one since a year and I love it. I really appreciate the sound system which is a Bang & Olufsen. Dealer service is perfect. The quality of the ride is fantastic without any noise or strange cracking. In winter time and snow storm this car is very safe. Just one thing is missing, the car has no gadget to clean up the front camera. It offer a VTL, which is very practical and useful.

The aspect that I give Hyundai, Kia and Genesis a lot of credit for is that they keep at it year-after-year. When Datsun, Toyota and Mazda first started importing to the States they were interesting, but awkward vehicles, but each brand kept at it and are where they are today because of it.

@@majicdude88, that is exactly what exasperates me the most about a powerful company like Toyota; just to mention a company with a big reputation for reliabilty. They could be more reliable (same leaks no matter what model, and even Lexus models for decades), and put more attention to details like the rear bumper flutterings that could easily be taken care with a stiffening honeycomb or ridges design in the inside of the bumpers. Been driving about a year for gv60 standard rwd. Very comfy and elegant interior indeed. Range about 294 to 330 miles on the screen. Leased for 3y with three year free charging at electrify america. Of course no maintenance no mechanical problem. Things i don’t agree with ccn, 1. Quality of interior does affect you a long time, probably longest among other features. Elegant yet practical. Agree that this makes tesla a car from toysrus. 2. Backseat is quite roomy and the buttons for the passanger seat are my daughters favorite to adjust her ipad stand attached to the headrest. 3. Not expensive if you lease it with 3 year free charging. In fact, it would turn out to be cheaper compared to awd ioniq5 with only 2y free charging. Most don’t need more oomph than my rwd. 4.very fast charging and better range than my wife’s model y. Not sure why range was better in last winter., but gv60 charges much faster and cold impacted range noticeably less than model y.

The thing to remember about heat in Hyundai/Kia EVs are that they start the heat pump, but after a few moments will call for PTC heat to get it going quickly. The compressor will run very fast in low temps. But Tesla's cannot do that - in fact, they use the compressor windings as a heater, which is a bonkekrs stupid thing to do (being that I'm an AC tech) because that's how HVAC compressors die in the field! Second, Kia/Hyundai batteries don't even care about cold weather - they don't need heating unless below 0 F. Plus, any work you need to do on the Tesla system means you are removing refrigerant.

When the world of electric cars will look like this: you connect it, you pour the electric energy in it like you pour a coffe in a cup, or gas into the gas tank and the car will run for at least 400 miles, then OK. The badge sign remind of Aston Martin? The front end Toyota Camry / Toyota Avensis, the interior aims to be the Lexus and the price is over the Lexus? And under the hood there is a very complicated refrigerator/freezer/heat pump? Is it a car or the heating/cooling centre for a family house? Thank you, but NO!!! V8 or V6 or hybrid is OK. 4.515m length for the GV60 and 4.750m for the Tesla - that 23.5cm difference is realised mostly in boot space. 4 people’s camping stuff into model Y yeah- as some 500+L under the parcel shelf. Only 432L in the GV60! The longer GV70 4.715m has about the same interior cabin space but bigger boot at 504L. For me I wanted a shorter car and with only one child it was amble enough and eased UK city parking and multi-storey parking where parking spaces are not very big. The attractiveness of the cheaper price more powerful electrified GV70 is only curtailed by the absence of a Long range version- GV70 AWD no option and 283 miles WLTP cf GV60 RWD 321 miles! You makes your choice.

I would love more information on how this continuously adjustable damper works. I've got Mag-ride in my C7 Z51 and I understand how it works (voltage changes the shock's fluid viscosity, car rides stiffer or softer) but I have not heard much about the GV60s suspension. It uses a camera to scan the road then somehow changes the suspension damping? but how? I don't need a bigger vehicle like the Y... I like that this is smaller, more like a hot-hatch then an CUV. Thanks to the EV hate these things sell for significantly less then sticker. On the used market 50% off is already happening. Better build quality then Tesla and Genesis has traditional dealerships for service.

If you're gonna buy an EV, it should be: #1 INEXPENSIVE. #2 from a company that has a long history. Any company can go out of business 3 or 4 years down the road, but you're best buying from a company with a track record. #3 from a company with good maintenance and repair history. (I trust Cadillac). HYUNDAI/ KIA are low key dominating the affordable "premium" EV market. I say premium because these aren't truly "luxury" cars, but they are higher quality than the cheapest economy EV. Tesla is constantly battling Hyundai/Kia with lower prices. When it comes to having to get vehicles repaired, I trust Hyundai/Kia more than Tesla.

A very informative and helpful video but a few problems with it. First, they make a big deal out of the price and range. Yes, the Performance model is expensive, with low range especially in cold conditions. However there was almost no mention of the other models RWD and AWD, that offer performance from good to excellent and much better range at significantly lower prices. Second, he criticizes the car for being small. For many people a high quality, luxury car is a positive. A lot of us don't need rear seats for 3 linebackers and luggage space for a 3 month vacation. Small then becomes a virtue..easier parking, less garage space etc. Third he seems to prefer the Tesla's giant infotainment screen. Again for many of us, having a touch screen and all that visual data in the center of the dash, drawing the driver's eyes away from the road is safety hazard. The GV60 set up ,including heads up display and plenty of manual controls is far superior.

The non-performance, the “Advanced” trim is $10k less. Then after $7,500 tax credit if you lease, that’s $53k. You can get 3-5k on the hood, then it’s below $50k. And the Advance trim has 250 mile range.

Amd, I think the eventual model for electric cars will involve a universal sized battery, removed and replaced at a service station much like we refuel now. I don’t see a future for stopping every few hours to recharge.

These charge extremely quickly. 10-80% charge in 18minutes. Edmunds just calculated the EV6 and Ioniq5 (this car’s sisters) to charge at 769miles per hour. I strongly recommend everyone who thinks charging an EV takes hours to download “A Better Route Planner” and see how long you would actually need to stop with a given EV along your normal road trip routes. It’s free. And it’s eye opening if you’re steeped in EV myths.

California plates
@craigcraigster4999
@craigcraigster4999 7 ай бұрын
That isn't an ordinary CA plate (plate, not plates) but rather a CA distributor plate, with "distributor" defined in CVC § 296 as "any person other than a manufacturer who sells or distributes new vehicles subject to registration under this Code . . . to dealers in this state and maintains representatives for the purpose of contacting dealers or prospective dealers in this state." The fact that this GV60 wears such a plate, while AMD's shop is located in the greater Chicago area, most likely means that this is a press vehicle supplied through the manufacturer for public relations/testing and review purposes. Genesis Motor America is headquartered in Fountain Valley (CA) which further explains the presence of a CA distributor plate on this particular vehicle. Although no longer owned by GMA (manufacturer) because of the DST plate designation, it also indicates that an MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) has yet to be assigned for this vehicle to a selling dealership's inventory, which is why this particular plate carries the "DST" designation and not "DLR". 😎

Lucid is giving theirs away with $650 a month leases on $95K cars; same with Mercedes----can walk out with an EQE that cost double what an TLX costs for the same exact lease payment. Or try a Toyota BZ4X; that is so unpopular you can lease one for $169 a month!
