The BMW dealer you have referred to, if it was me, I would have to say something to them, not in a angry way but I would as the manager if you could have a quiet word, question if BTW are treating them badly (something that doesn't make it sound as its their fault) and be honest with him/her use words like disapointed for a BTW garage but say it in a way that your praising the company and that they are so fortunate to have a job with a prestigious company. I do my best to try and get on with everyone even if I am not a fan of them, if someone doesn't get on with me it bugs me and I get a need to know why. I talk a lot of b.s. too lol. It is odd though for a BTW dealership. Or just tell me to mind my own business lol

My Dad had a 1990 H reg 525i ex demo . It was brilliant and so glad that this was his choice over competitors at the time. The acceleration was brilliant and when he let me have a go as a 18 year old I never tired that 50 - 70ish (haha) range, I remember the manual said 1st gear was capable of up to 50mph. Plus the rear wheel drive made it go sidewards around roundabouts. Great fun. I reckon a 5 series is on the cards again at some point, if not for nostalgia alone. Proper stealth car. Looks sensible and classy yet you could chuck it around and grin ear to ear like a sports car... what a great balance.

I drove the 535d for couple hundreds kilometers on bad roads in Eastern Europe and before driving it I was a bit skeptical about the car, because it looks too chubby, but I was surprised by the handling and the way the steering wheel felt on cornering was very satisfying. The best thing is ample power, refinement, comfort, quality interior pretty decent reliability. The only negative is that it’s a little big when trying to drive around in small cramped city streets, trying to park in multi story car parks and the run flat tyres can make the ride harsher than it should be. All in all a brilliant car especially if it involves driving long distances in supreme comfort. As my 3rd 5 series in a row (following my E39 and E60) the F10 is a thoroughly recommended.

@@martilofficial7987 My 520d is pretty quiet and smooth for a diesel. It’s no slouch either, feels powerful and fast. The fuel economy is amazing. You could probably get it up 60/65mpg if you kept it in ECO mode and drove carefully enough. It can be good fun in sport mode around the country lanes, but it’s definitely at its best as a quiet, smooth, comfortable and brilliant motorway cruiser. Can't disagree I'd love one and probably will its just what I'd like but.... That 2.0 d is as rough as at idle and I don't what has happened at BMW but the use of plastic for critical components like timing chain guides means the engines are more of a lottery than they need to be. This one looks really nice though.

Like you I have the champion BMW dealer that nobody here likes to use. 1st service (they did not supply the car) took 2 hours and I got a video of them walking around under the car. One last visit (any warrenty work) and my mechanic takes over. 530D and its too damn quick for me, has to be driven with respect. Its just comforting to know you have it - whenever. Plus it is very smooth and quiet for the frequent drives to and from Estepona.

Best thing about no full options is, less staff that wil give up and coast. My had 170000km. so it coast only 20K instead low km from 30 to 40K CHF. Just sayin for the info. Peace

Good review. I had an F11 520d Modern from new and am now on an F10 530d M Sport. Doing around 20K a year, 75% on the motorway, I achieved around 46 and 41mpg respectively. The six cylinder is so much smoother than the 4 and given the small difference in mpg I think it’s worth going for the 3.0 if you can. After 4 years of ownership I’m supposed to be changing it this year, don’t like the ‘stick on’ screen in the new 5 so might just hold on to this one. No issues with the F10 so far but had the air conditioning pump go in the F11, luckily covered under warranty.

I think the half electric half manual seats are a good idea. My old Volvo V70 has fully electric seats, the wife got in the car moved the seat to her position, being shorter and thinner than me, a lot closer to the steering wheel. Then the seat ECU module thing packed up and I could not drive the car because I couldn't get the seat back far enough. Had to take the seat out and disconnect the module and put power straight to the motor to be able to move the seat. It was a faf, but that's the good thing about manual seats they can still be moved when the electronics pack up.

Great video as usual. Really quite insightful. I have had by 65 plate 530d luxury about a year and it really is very good. I test drive both the 520d and the 530d and opted for the former mainly because of the smoothness of the 6 cylinder, it just felt like a luxury car should. This said, it has not been without problems. I have had the instrument cluster go caput even though my car is only 4 years old. Thankfully bmw agreed to pick up the cost of 2.5k!! Which ould have put me off bmw for life. A review of the 530d would be welcome. Thank you for your reviews they really are excellent!

Im so glad you mentioned the BMW dealer customer service. My local branch when I had my 320d was a) snobby and b) rude , when I was asked to come in for a re call. Although the manager of the branch called and apologised. It really put me off BMW. My branch here in Glasgow was Harry Fairbairn. I moved to Skoda after the Beemur and honestly , I found proper care and appreciation of my custom. Skoda even asked me to come in as an NHS worker for a full car check , wash and vac free of charge. Who else is doing that. Im prob going to stay with the brand. Many thx for your channel mate , as always

All BMW garages in Glasgow are rip off merchants wether it’s Harry Fairburn or Douglas Park. I’ve had 3 BMW’s in the last 12 years, they are the ultimate driving machine but finding an honest and trustworthy dealership for maintenance is the major issue. Watching this I felt like rushing out to buy one, then I remembered I had just sold my BMW 525d tourer. It was all the car I ever wanted, fast, comfortable, economical, large boot for our dog, towed our caravan. It had everything I wanted.... except reliability. I just decided too much money going out, too many trips back home on the back of a recovery truck. It was simply time to call it a day. Sad but there it is. If it had been reliable then it would have been great. When our local mechanic said, " why have you bought this pile of rubbish?" and I replied "But it's a BMW !". he replied "Exactly". I hope the new owner has better look than I did. I thoroughly enjoyed your review though.

No faffing about adusting anything, it does it all for you, seats, mirrors, wheel, sat nav preferences, audio preferences, everything. Ours also has heads up display which is great with the sat nav, and a reversing camera. All the car you'll ever need. Had it for over two years, nothing has gone wrong. I use a local independent BMW specailaist, which is great. Running costs for such a big car are very low.

What a coincidence kardesim. I'm also Turk :D I'm comparing all cars from mercs, audi, bmw etc. to replace my vw polo 1.0 2015 (my first new decent car, but it's time to upgrade and get one fitting my age 25..) with an overall great car. And found bmw 520d to be the one I'm looking for. It has several advantages that I found: - Sporty BUT classy look: People would say wow and even respect. And NOT think afterwards such a loser, he's trying to impress with his car (like Ford Mustang GT...) - Very efficient fuel consumption for the HP (horsepower) you get - Second hand several years old model (like 2018) with low mileage has a fair price (+-35K) especially if you consider all the options it has (new costs with premium options like 50K) - Seems to be reliable and not needing a lot of maintenance costs (like Mercedes)

There is something about the ownership and driving experience as yet I have found no equal and I have had almost all the audis out there , the fords the Saabs, VW etc etc .
