And some helpfull spec details. And I for one found it useful. It helps me along with other information gathered in deciding if I want to buy one or not. There's an immaculate example available in a showroom near me just now and I'm loving the look. I just dunno if It's an all rounder and need something more than a Sunday ride bike. I absolutely love these things. They look absolutely superb, and they're actually made in ENGLAND! Also love the fact that they're singles, just like the CB250 RS (Deluxe, don't you know!) I had in '89. I'd have one in a heartbeat if I could afford one. But for me personally that seat height of 840mm is WAAAAAAAY too tall. I'm 5'1" and the standard 800mm is about the absolute limit to what I can ride and still be able to get a foot (tippy toe) down at standstill, I really wish they'd do a lower seat height version. I think that would make them LOOK better as well. And be more accessible to all the lovely lady riders who'd love to get a leg over one of these, but nobody seems to think of that when they design bikes. Very odd.
@SIMONB12 жыл бұрын
Hey up Alexander, being on tip toes on a light bike isnt that bad, most manufacturers nowadays are making bike seats lower as they know there are more people out there would buy one , there is a manufacturer of boots that make boots with an extra 60mm hight in the sole for vertical challenged people and you can't tell 😉, may be an option for you to buy your dream bike 👍, ride safe, Simon B 👍

@@SIMONB1 Hi Simon. Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I've been looking at different bikes, but I can't see many bikes having low saddles. If anything they seem to be getting higher! Have a look at the Vitpilen 401. Small capacity bike and the seat height is 835! WHY????? Then there's "adventure bikes"... Triumph do the Bobber, but the tw*ts put the footpegs in the wrong place!!! I know being on tiptoes isn't that bad (well, it just about works), but just imagine if you every time you had to go into a room you use every day, you had to go on tiptoe and stretch up just to reach the light switch? How long would it be before you got an electrician out to pull the thing down a bit? I know there are solutions - I've always used cut down seats and "dropped the forks", there are lowering kits, etc,etc, but I really shouldn't have to in this day and age. Biggest bike I've ever owned was a GSX 75ES in the 90's (completely stock). But I was always hankering (as you do) for something bigger. Larger bikes are just "elephants" to me though (although I did once test ride a Z1000 2018) which I just about managed to get a toe down on. I need something with a seat height around the 750mm mark. It's like looking for rocking horse sh*t. I know it's not your fault. I'm just on a rant (sorry)! ;-}

CCM bikes start from £10,000.00, have been looking at this brand as they do look and sound great, I've decided not to buy as they are not fuel injected (Carberated with a choke lever) also I'm not convinced the LCD display works when compared to the rest of the bike, a pair of stainless clocks with rev counter would fit this bike so much better, for me a key to start the bike rather than the magnetic fob thingy, 3 things that I personally don't like is a deal breaker, and for that reason I'm out. Ps I'm looking at Norton now with renewed interest as I'm definitely going to buy something made in the UK. Thankyou for making and sharing your knowledge and content much appreciated.

Been after something fun in a single or a twin for a while, nothing hits the spot since I lost my mt03... (The 660 single not the new 400) I found myself really bored on a vfr750, and know that's not normal! the fact that you can reach the bikes potential on the mt03 was what made it, and that low down grunt was the most fun place for it! The maintenance routine sucked though, that thing just rattled itself apart!

@@SIMONB1 thinking about it, next bike will either be a scrambler or supermoto set up. The spitfire scrambler does look a decent bet, as does the fantic scramber. I've ridden a few supermotos in my time, and they do what I need better than anything, not as comfortable though... I wouldn't be able to head out for hours at a time on one. The scramblers are a bit chunkier, the best of both worlds I guess, I still wouldn't want to tour on it, but I could take it to the beach for some chips, I'm not quite sure I could handle that on the little g string of a dirt bikes seat!

Hi again Simon. Having watched your video again, I have a couple of things for you. First, the front mud guard is in front of my forks; looks much better and doesn't spray water etc. up in my face. Second, do you know CCM have had issues with the bare metal frame, clear coated. Many Spitfire's have gone back and been re-framed at CCM FOC. They acknowledge that the clear powder coat just didn't work and after much consultation they have ditched clear frames and now powder coat properly to a very high standard. They even have a colour catalogue that owners can choose a new colour from. Did you see Richard Gill's re-framed CCM with blue frame? Some original bikes are OK, but others seem to be rusting under the clear coat; so have gone back to CCM. My Cafe Racer was re-framed by CCM before they delivered it. Don't get spooked, they don't actually think there is actual rust under the coat, just some form of discolouration that results from the limited preparation they could perform when clear coating. In fact, they think it's the cleaning solvent that has reacted with the clear powder coat because it could not be thoroughly cleaned off prior to coating. Thorough cleaning would have scratched the lovely metal of the frame. If you are worried or notice what might be corrosion, contact Steve (After Sales Manager) at CCM. He was fantastic when I spoke with him about another potential Spitfire purchase. In fact, I think their customer service is second to none. Regards.

Hey up Garry, I can see they the cafe racer front mudguard comes about 100 mm forward if the forks, si this should stop my problem , I know about the rusting, mine seems ok, it may be the the only clear coated one left, may be worth more money 😂, thanks for the comment hope you subscribed, stay safe 👍, Simon B

I'm a moto mechanic for yearsssss and never heard of CCM here in AZ USA. They look pretty basic really. small for my liking but very stylistic. neato. it's strange to see such a large rear wheel; performance-wise it would be interesting taking a curve at full speed, but i suppose some cbr900rrs have a 16" front instead of a 17" and i never noticed much other than a more aggressive riding position. if the wheels were equal, and like 18"+ each i'd sayu this is more tracker-esque, but this really is a Frankenstein of different styles; like they did an instagram hipster search of what is popular and put together a single cyl with a wacky frame, inverted forks, mono shck, fat rear, tracker bars, floating rear fender, etc. A buncha tricks in a box made into a bike.

Question Simon: Has rust started to appear on the frame welds yet? I heard that CCM were calling all the original bikes back in due to rust - apparently they were not cleaned/coated properly before being spray painted..... If you are unaware of this issue, I'm sure you can find it on youtube to understand exactly what the problem was - I came across this info about a year ago. As lovely and unique as these bikes look, I feel they are now over priced when you look at what else you can get for the money. Thanks for the video by the way

It’s maybe worth £6k with all the mods…along with a drz400e I got as a winter green laner (now fitted with supermoto wheels)…call that £3k with two sets of wheels and some different gearing. I have the best of both worlds for sub £9k…what does a spitfire cost again?!! Hey up Andrew, them two questions, sorry I can't answer any of them 😯, as said in the vid, I just fill it and ride, what are you getting ?, Simon B 👍

Mine does about 90 ish to the tank, I rang CCM and spoke to one of the service guys and he said providing its ridden correctly it'll do between 80 to 100, but when the fuel light comes on you need to get to a fuel station fairly quickly as the way the tank is shaped it can't use all the fuel ! So when the light comes on it is time to refuel !!! Wouldn't commit to how many miles it'll do in reserve though. I'm thinking about riding around the UK coast road sometime soon so I need to know answers. Guess the only way is to take her out on a ride with a jerry can and let her run out ! Brilliant vids by the way Andrew

@@SIMONB1 very possibly! I have owned 3 in my time,a 604 Rotax supermoto,644 Suzuki supermoto and a R30 710 big bore supermoto. Now at the tender age of 40 with two young daughters I want something to look jaw dropping in the garage with the occasional ride out to get away from the madness at home. Having raced supermotos back in the day I’m very familiar with these large single cylinder motors and there tractor like characteristics. I’m torn between the CCM Street Moto or a triumph Speed twin 1200. Only thing that worries me about CCM is they have been known for financial difficulties over there time and I tend on keeping this next bike till I’m to old to ride,so I want to be confident I can always get parts or back up should I need it. Coming from a background with these engines I’m more than familiar with valve adjustments and have rebuilt a few race engines in my time but if I cant get parts then it becomes a issue. The attention to detail and craftsmanship on the CCM’s is nothing short of one off build levels of work and this is a big draw for me as I like looking at bikes as much as riding them.
