The last time we got an update for the Pod Go was I think July of 2022. Since then, there's been a VERY important update for the Helix products which released a significant amount of DSP for the units....So..Here's why I'd probably buy one of those instead of a Pod Go at this point....

I've decided to make it possible to grab both my Helix/HX Stomp bundles (the expression bundle with freeze presets has always been separate) together - www.paypal.com... - I will then email you a link to both bundles!

I’ve had a Pod Go for 2 years or so. Still loving it. The simplicity of it is just very appealing to me and the limitations help me focus on playing more rather than fiddling around. Great content as always John thanks !

I play professionally every weekend and I love my Pod Go. I no longer bring amps and pedals to the stage. I own a Marshall JVM 410h 4x12 and a Marshall VS100, and they never leave home anymore. The Pod Go, despite its few limitations, solves all my problems on stage, it's simply wonderful and has a lot of sound.

If you do your research, then you will know what you are getting into when you get the Go. The Go users I talk to are still loving it. There is enough available that anybody should be able to get a tone that they can be happy with. I have been using mine for a couple of years and still believe, for me, it is all I could need. Could I see getting a full Helix floor? Heck yeah. But not because I am chasing tones. I just love the technology. The Go checks all the boxes that I need for the moment. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is at my level of playing. I would recommend the Helix floor or the Stomp XL for folks at a higher level but that isn't at all a knock at the Go. It just depends on how deep you want to go. Appreciate the continued Pod Go love.

This is a perfect multi effects pedal for those who want an "all in one", or one who wants to downsize their analog foot print for a "minimalist" style setup of adding a chord router and 3 other pedals. I think of it as a beefed up M series with Helix sims. And Line 6 SHOULD embrace that with giving users the capability to delete whatever we don't need without a Text Editor, giving it official Effects Only capabilities.

as someone who changed from a pod go to a hx stomp (with an external expression pedal), i have to say that the pod go is still a great buy and if you use the built in expression or intend to, it is so much easier to set up many different things with the pod go compared to the hx stomp (though still doable). if you are just looking for good tones, a simple signal chain, i think the pod go is plenty. [note: i changed because i wanted a lighter setup]

I have the Pod Go and HX Stomp. I love the form factor of the Go and always use it for live despite the lower power. I also prefer the larger screen, four snapshots and the fact that there are two banks of presets. I've also done the jailbreak on the Go to get an extra FX block which is useful. Kind of wish they made a "HX Go" with the processing power of HX Stomp and MIDI I/O but with the same form factor as the Pod Go (although to be fair the Stomp XL isn't very different from that - would have probably gone for that if it had come out earlier).

For the photo cell on volume pedal- absolutely true, I have experienced it, living and working at the beach. However, the Helix has the identical issue, same photo cell. A couple of companies make something that goes around the helix and blocks the light. I solved the problem by bringing a black bandana or t shirt for outdoor gigs, and covering the volume pedal with it. this blocks the light but does not hinder the usage of the expression pedal. I also own an hx stomp and a helix rack. I use the helix rack for my "day job"-playing 6 nights a week at a theater , it keeps the stage clean with only a CAT5 cable onstage. I use the PodGo on weddings and other one off gigs, as well as recording sessions- it sounds great, it has the expression pedal, and importantly is a quick setup with small footprint. I think it is really great at what it does-i Used 2 PodGo at my theater gig for a year and they were flawless. But we did need to run ac power and audio cables. I think it is stellar for what it is, I don't really miss not having 2 amps and cabinets, because it sounds great to me. The HX Stomp is not easily used for live, without the expression pedal-you cna add one, but then it is bigger, and one more thing to connect and disconnect. Plus fewer switches for snapshots, tuner etc. LOVE the Helix rack, but I am probably would not have bought it for my normal gigs-it is perfect for my needs at the theater, which is basically an install-it lives there in a rack, with the foot control onstage. I plug in my wireless packs, and I am ready to go. I think if the PodGo isn't enough, skipping over the HX stomp models and going to the Helix is best move-it was not cheap, but it has all the options, ins/outs, multiple signal paths, etc. I feel like the HX stomp series is just a gateway drug to the helix. They are more powerful than PodGo, but a pain on live gigs, and for recording sessions they aren't enough better (same sounds!) to warrant the extra $$ for me.

In 2023, there may very well be some more cutting edge solutions, but the PG has such a simplicity to it, it's hard not to like. Even though I own an FM3, I find myself gravitating to the PG frequently as it's so easy to get so many usable tones very easily. The screen is fantastic, the editor as well, and whiles there's only a single chain with several slots, it forces you to think about your tone before building it. No one should hesitate to think about this, when it's the cost of two average pedals.

I had a Helix floor which was way more than I needed and understood, and bought a Pod Go. It does have some limitations but is easier for me. Last last year I bought a HX Stomp after 3.5 was released, which I had hope to replace the Go with, but trying to get it "gig ready" would cost additional investment in a wah or expression pedal, and possibly a midi switch to get what I already have in the Go. Plus the screen is bigger on the Go and it has 4 snaps instead of 3. I am more an amp/pedalboard guy so the Go just works better for me

I'll probably still stick to my POD Go - I prefer the simplicity of the unit, and probably wouldn't run the dual cab setup anyway. My tones are very simple, just a drive into an amp with a compressor and reverb or delay. And I like the built-in Exp. Pedal for volume swells. I don't need all the multi-cab updates with more mics, mic positions, etc. - that just seems way too complex for my brain.

Happy birthday John! I’ve got both the hx stomp and the pod go. ALWAYS bring the pod go out to gigs. It’s one box, no external extra switches or pedals and still gives you way more options for sounds than you actually need to do a function gig. I’m running into a catalyst 100 and have never needed anything more. The stomp is brilliant fun but i think much harder to gig with unless you’ve got it on a pedal board with extra bits. Great intro by the way. Very joyful playing. You needn’t think you’re getting away with not showing us the run at 2:32 btw. 😮

The Helix LT is still the best bang for your buck with no compromise really and no need to add a bunch of extra buttons and volume pedals. And having 2 DSP chips like the big Helix Floor so you can use ALL the free presets or there is powerful. The next gen Helix will have more power for sure but for now the LT is the way to go ( if you save up or get one used). The Pod Go well NEVER get the new v3.5 amps and 3D mic abilities due to lack of DSP power. N it's a beginners hobby tool. But always get s little more than you need a grow into it.

I called and the tech responded that "they were to busy and he really didn't want to deal with calling line 6 or ordering parts from them" and, they intended to keep the 80 dollars they charged to look at it. I wrote to line 6 and my response after 3 days was a form letter showing this same repair facility or, I could ship it to them for repair. I think one of the biggest downsides to the Pod GO is the fact that Helix presets and Pod GO presets aren't cross-compatible. The technical limitations aside, it would have been really smart for Line 6 to make POD Go edit able to at least view a Helix preset and be able to adopt the portions of the signal chain that will fit with POD Go. The majority of the community tones available are for Helix and occasionally people throw a bone to POD Go users with a simpler version, but not always. I had the Pod XT Live for playing music at church and the Pod GO replaced that for me with a much simpler interface and I've never felt constrained by the DSP limitations

Happy birthday! I will go for the hx stomp. It would be interesting if you could do an evaluation of the Boss Me80 which is a very user friendly unit. Cheers

Huzzah new podgo stuff! It all depends on what you need, what your budget is, etc. Is it the most powerful box out there? Nope. But it works. Like everything you just need to know what your gear can and can't do. I think the real key is research before you buy. haha was that my comment about needing more PodGo presets ? If so thank you much.

I'd pick the Pod Go over a Helix any day. If Helix is the case, I'd rather just shell out the extra money and buy specific pedals

Had the ME-80 (nice pedal) swapped it out to a HeaRush MX5 (Super nice sound) but I missed the foot switches and the POD GO seems like it's where it's at for me. I like the touch screen on the MX5 but the biggest con for me was the lack of foot controls

I think the unit is fine, but there are things that could be upgraded. I'm personally avoiding the all in 1 units because it feels like something is always missing or not as good. I'd love to see companies embrace a modular design that works together. Like HX effects w/ a wah pedal you could connect would be cool. I also worry about something breaking that you can't just replace one part.

I have a Helix Floor and a Pod Go. they are definitely different beasts. I like the Go as a quick in front of amp solution for a very reasonable tone almost as a pure pedal board. ( I did the JSON hack as well to get more slots) and use the Catalyst models as the amp and just use the Catalyst DI. It is slightly annoying that some things I really like the Cosmos Echo ( My go -to in the Helix) isn't available on the Go as well as better routing solutions for the effects loop but it was a cheap, portable, good sounding and convenient solution

It lacks a direct out, and the looper is horrible, I still can’t work it out after a year!. Apart from that it’s a nice unit.

Only thing bad about this unit is the power supply. The chord tends to break ridiculously easy and theirs no adapters that can fit it’s role. The chord itself is like 60$ and if it breaks you have to buy again. Theirs no cheap alternative. Make sure you take care of it

What sucks about pod go wireless is that the wireless transmitter only charges in the input slot, so you can’t even use the pod go while the transmitter is charging. Big miss by line 6

i've been rocking the boss me-80 since 2014 and i finally retired it a month ago with the line 6 pod go and it is such a game changer for me. this thing is a modding beast! one thing i did notice is that the tuner in it is not accurate! if they fix that with a update id rock with it for a long long time.

I know the ME-80 is at least 10 years old now, but I love the functionality of it. I am considering both but it seems by what you stated I should go with the newer technology and the Pod Go. From a pure sound opinion, is the Pod that much better than the ME-80? I just love the way the ME-80 feels like a bunch of separate pedals that you can control. Thanks for any additional comments you can provide.

@@davidgerdes5394 I can’t make that decision for you, do what will work best for you me80 is still a solid piece of gear. I like line 6 pod go because it’s modding capabilities are easier for me.

The pod go seems a more all in one and I love that aspect, very grab and go. I can live with the limitations for half price of the stomp. I have 4-5 presets (with snapshots), and it serves all my needs. I dont really use new cabs from updates either. The stomp seems to fit into a singal chain with other pedals. I still think the pod go has a market and competes with ampero etc in the price range. John also shows why it IS worthwhile with those tones and recording capability (for £350..)😂
