Honestly, I'm a big rpg player and the shoulder buttons were never really used. The L and R on the vol is actually easy to get use to and that actually has a lot to do with the size of it. I really can describe it you simply have to feel it. I grew up playing gb style so that fits me just fine. It not for everyone but if your a 90s kid this works well.

If you're having issues with the "apartment number, suite, etc." portion of the shipping on GoRetroid because you don't have an apartment or suite number just past a blank unicode character and it will accept it. Not sure why it needs something in this field as most people in the US who live in a house won't have have anything for that field.

Really like the look of this device, but I have all my bases covered between now owning a Vita I picked up recently and my 3DS. Only thing I wouldn't mind having is better N64 support for a few titles. The having to carry around two devices if I want to have access to everything doesn't bother me much and the lack of N64 is more than made up for me with the support of native 3DS and Vita titles. This is probably about the best looking and designed device I've seen out of these Chinese built retro handhelds.Good on them and it's at a good price even for the dual boot model.

It looks like there is 4gig of internal storage and the 32gb-128gb is external. You can just use any TF you have lying around.

Let me check. *Edit* the default profile runs from 45-60 fps with no sound issues and the rice profile runs at a locked 30 fps, but I think it looks much better with the default profile. There's another profile that runs at 60 fps, but the background of the tracks goes black.

Not a huge loss. Not super impressed with mine. The d pad and buttons will get stuck on inputs. Remapping buttons seems to be impossible, and it tends to choke on PSP games. (This was the Pandora's Box version, not Android tho)

Its funny, any multi-system retro emulator, I basically look to how it plays Conker (N64) and Jet Set Radio (Dreamcast) - when a portable system comes out that can handle both of those and has decent HDMI output, I'm in.

Excellent review, as usual. To be true, i was very surprised with amount of work they're made since engineering samples. This device was a completely no-no before this video. Now i even think i'll pick up this one over Odroid Go Advance, since no one knows when it will be really available to buy. As far as i know, almost 90% of factories in China was already returned to their work processes, thus no problem will be with shipping this console.

If I only want the closed android OS, is there any drawback to getting the powkiddy a19 version of this system? It’s considerably less expensive at this point, I have no interest in adding my own roms, and I like the Pandora’s box interface.

Hi Taki, looks a massive improvement on the Powkiddy A19. Bought the A19 a while ago but was a real pain to add my own roms so sent it back. Just bid on eBay for an Odroid Advanced I if I don't win that, I'll buy this new. Great detailed review. Thanks

Yeah, same here. It will most likely run 2D games no problem. But I was hoping for 3D games to run better.

Hi thanks for this great video. I just bought this system and played with it during 1 hour. Then I decided to make a backup copy of the sd card on my pc. When I put back the sd card in the console the display showed 0 games ! I know that the card is full with games because I have checked on my computer but they won’t display on the retro game console. Do you know what I could do to make the games reappear on the console ? Thanks for your answer 👍

Just to be clear?: Will I be able to personally map the buttons? For example for Street Fighter III 3rd strike or Capcom "fighting" games I want the button layout to match that of an arcade machine - like the top row of 3 buttons should be punches & the lower 3 should be kicks.

My unit arrived with wonky controls. Tried to play SNES games, but the controls were delegated to the right 4 bottons, and they were flipped! (SNES X & Y = Retroid C & D respectively). I really don't want to map each and every game to reflect the button layout that you had.
