Imagine being offered a Daytona at list from an AD with the hypothetical caveat that you could never sell it. Never. It’s yours for life. Sell it and you drop dead. In the contract. Can you really see £10,500 in that steel watch? Difficult to recalibrate your viewpoint when the hype is gone. In reality Rolex could double the list price overnight and still they’d queue around the block. Triple it maybe. A steel watch. Think about that. That’s the power of the brand. That’s the depth of our greed. Pathetic really - Haha! In 2020 you’d think we’d take our eye off the ball, but sadly no. We’re more hypnotised by this watch than ever before. Up and up it goes out of reach like a fairground balloon on the breeze. Full of helium, hype... but not much more. Those who get their hands on them can’t advertise them for resale fast enough. Sold on and on. Nobody wants to hold on for long. Get rid. Cash in. And who can really blame them?

I would buy the steel one at list in a heartbeat. It's above all, a very nice watch.
@loaded28204 жыл бұрын
That's just the thing. The people that own these watches are at the top of the list precisely because 10 grand isn't a big deal to them and they won't ever sell it, unless their heirs do. Rolex aren't interested in feeding grey market profiteers, or listening to people whinge about the watch being expensive. That's why most people will wait years, it is to shake loose the chancers and the unserious. If you are properly serious (and ADs usually can tell) you'll get your watch much quicker than the waiting lists would suggest.
@Jay-xr3sb4 жыл бұрын
The amount of gold used in a gold watch doest really reflect the extra cost over its steel version. At the end of the day Rolex puts its money into marketing minor tweaks, Lange puts its money into the craft. They are all simply watches, do you want to flex or do you want to marvel at a watch. Even those that like rolex for the design also love the ego stroke of having ther watch recognised

@@sohamray908 As an electrical and computer engineer, you have much to learn. Apple is and has always been about selling a 'lifestyle'. From a pure hardware point of view, they are not that cutting edge. Their 'chip design' is no more advanced then a dozen of other companies. Samsung is actually much more advanced with almost complete vertical integration in the technology area. From semi-conductor foundries to LCD manufacturing etc, Samsung has intimate expertise in all aspects. Where do you think Apple gets all their components?
