This one of the best reviews of a Lexus LS430 I have seen. Alongside Car Care Nuts reviews. These are phenomenal cars. Although I have driven its' predecessor, the LS400, a 1998 model, that car was still one of the most refined cars I have ever driven. I have been driving nearly 30 years and I used to be a chauffeur. A 1998 car that had better refinement than the luxury cars that came out in 2014/2015. I say this because I drove the luxury cars of that period. Only the Rolls Royce Phantom of the time had the same level of refinement. Buy an LS430 if you can but get a clean example that has been well looked after. I am going to do the same....oh and did I tell you the LS400 98 model I drove had 212,000 miles, no rattles whatsoever was still on the original engine and gearbox?!!!

I found my 1991 LS400 in 2004 with 161K on it and I drove it to 350K before letting it go - same engine, drive train, everything, but repairs became expensive. My LS430 has impeccable maintenance records and has been a dream to own. And yes, when you close the door all outside noise is eliminated. Thunk. Gone. It's remarkable. No regrets.

I DID buy a 20-year-old LS 430 off a lot last year. Reputable dealer had 2 white ones - a 2004 with 142K miles and chrome wheels and a 2005 with 162K and machine finished wheels. I got the 2004 because it had an unimpeachable service record. Miles on an LS don't intimidate me. In 2004 I bought a LS 400 off a lot with 161K on it and I drove it past 400K with same drive train. Was still smooth, but repair costs were getting too high (most of those years maintenance was 0$). In my 2004 when you get inside and close the door the world's sounds cease. It's like a vault. Levinson sound system doesn't work but that's not a deal breaker. It's quieter than my living room and even when I get on it accelerates like a missile with very little sound. Very delighted. This car and I have a long way to go.

Most of what's been said is correct. However this part needs clarification - "The power mirrors switch connection can become faulty, particularly in hot climates like Australia. Folding functionality issues may require the entire mirror assembly to be replaced, which can be very expensive (over $1000). Alternatively, the power folding function can be disabled" as it's not just the folding function but also the mirror adjustment that can play up. However, contrary to the advice given you might get lucky and not need to replace the entire assembly. Owners group will tell you that a little contact cleaner may be all that needed to get them working again. Just used it this morning and adjustments are back to normal.

I live in the Adelaide Hills. Had land at Bundabah - near Tea Gardens. Spent 3 years driving back and forth. 18 hour drive straight through getting over 900km per tank. Filling at Wagga Wagga. Such an easy comfortable car to drive. A drive I would recommend. You have to do the Hay Plains at least once. Bought the car for $14K in 2015 with 100k kms. Handed it to my son for his 21st with 250K kms 5 years later. Still drives perfectly. Silver with black interior. A couple of quick ones. The steering tilt and telescope motors have nylon brush cogs that will lose their teeth. Motors will be fine but cogs wont. Turn off side mirrors and steering adjust. Only use when needed. Snow mode starts the car in 2nd gear. Great for hill starts on wet or gravelly roads. Lexus will adjust your fob to unlock one door or any other combination you like and there are little tricks that will open all windows and sunroof with the press of a button as well on a hot day. The bonnet is massive and struts will fade. Cheap to replace. As for safety. One Bruce Jenna ran into the back on an old lady in a 430 at speed in traffic with around 4T of mass and shunted the car into an oncoming car also with 4T of mass and travelling at speed. She died from internal injuries. The rescue teams didnt have to cut her out. They just opened the doors. edition.cnn.com/2015/05/01/entertainment/feat-bruce-jenner-car-accident-lawsuit/index.html And I thought the 430 was perfectly ergonomically designed. Until.......I got a 600. Didnt think it was possible to improve but they did and massively. I find it very difficult to drive the 430 now. All the buttons are in the wrong place!!! Although after a long euro holiday I arrived home to be picked up at the airport in the 430. Soooooooooooooooo nice in the back seat being driven home. Ive no doubt there is a 600h review not far away. Hopefully a 4 seater.

I used to one this exact car and I've dealt with the folding mirror madness, even opened up the car door and fixed it myself. Unfortunately, I let her go for the 460 F-Sport and boy do I regret letting her go. What's worse is that the prices keep going up on these, I'm so pissed!!!

2011 F10 BMW, apart from a $990 nz replacement rear door handle that shut the car down and the fact that I daren't drive it in the wet because of the electrics....it's great

A beautiful car no doubt Adam! The Japanese luxury arm have nailed it over many years mate. Funny how you mentioned Jody initially. I thought to myself “I wonder?…” 😂 As an avid, ok obsessed watch collector enthusiast, there could only be one Jody. Just on that too Adam, I always check out the watch your wearing in each episode & I have worked out you must have a few yourself!👍🏼😎

Some of the complex electrics will become a problem and they aren't as easily repairable as the older models. Otherwise can't go too wrong.

I have a 2002 LS430 & 2005 LS430. I bought the 2005 LS as a "spare" but my 2002 (213,000 miles) has been so good to me that I haven't ever driven the 2005 LS (31,000 miles on it). Best car ever, low maintenance but It is important to follow the Lexus recommended maintenance. You take care of it & it will take care of you. I won't drive anything else.

No chance on giving the Honda CR-Z a review? It has an amazing and dedicated community and is a fun and nippy little car.

The starter motor is between the cylinder banks and you have to take the heads off but the engine is dam nearly bulletproof over wise as Jim said
@herewegoagain4047 ай бұрын
Intake manifold. Not the heads
@peterkenchington9857 ай бұрын
Not heads, just manifold. If you have done this jon more than once, then you can have the manifold off in about 30 minutes like clockwork. The advantage of the in vee location is being out of the rain so they tend to go very long way before needing replacement.

Here in the USA we were offered a Base model that I don't think they had in Oz. That's what I have, an '05. Same color as this one, except a black interior. The thing has proven as reliable as a Camry.

2005 Grey LS430 owner here. I'd planned to sell the car now we're about to become empty nesters as the 430 is much more than we need. Perhaps switching to the GS430. After watching this you do have a point. It is possibly the best car ever built. I mean anything else I get after a 430 is always going to a lesser car. Hmmm. Maybe a rethink is needed and we just have to forget that there's 2 back seats albeit extremely comfortable ones.

GS430 is a worse car overall, best to stick with the LS430 or get another!
@Edward-tp5nc6 ай бұрын
It is the best. The 400 is also bullet proof. I own 2 Lexus 430s including the 05 and I love em. I bought a 460 and while it does ride a bit better with a few more gadgets it isn’t as reliable as my 430s!

Best car I’ve ever owned. I have a ls460L now and it’s great, but the ls430 was the best. Lexus doesn’t build cars like this anymore.
