As an owner of a 2017 LS 460, I think this is an excellent summary of the pros and cons to having one. I was in the camp of "always wanted to try one" after selling my ES 350 which provided a dozen years of flawless service. These are indeed complicated cars, and they drive as one would expect the flagship sedan from any luxury brand. In comparison to an S class or 7 series, however, they are far cheaper to maintain. The last generation 460's (2013? - 2017) also tended to have fewer of the notorious control arm and brake booster issues of ealier versions. For the reasons stated in the video, I also sought ought a car without air suspension but with AWD and Mark Levinson sound. Nothing but fluid changes so far for 3 years and 30k miles of ownership. Had no interest in the later version with the turbo V6: nothing compares to an normally aspirated V8 with port and direct injection👍

I looked at 460L's and decided to go with a 2004 Lincoln Town Car instead. It's hard to beat the ride of a Lincoln. The 4.6 V-8 is bulletproof and parts for this car are cheap. Easy to work on too. I am completely satisfied. Best driving car ever.
@bennieaustАй бұрын
I work on a lot of towncars. They are an excellent choice for all the reasons you mentioned. I’d be happy to own one of those as well. On paper they are absolutely in the same category. In my opinion they are very, very different cars and hard to compare. The Lincoln is very old school underneath, even for its day, and the Lexus was cutting edge back when it was new. In some ways it still is.

Somewhat unrelated, but I have a 2011 GS450H with 230K miles, and it still runs well. Shockingly enough, it's a hybrid with a CVT. You'd think with a CVT, it would have ran into major issues by now, but surprisingly, it still shifts fine apart from very rare downshifting hiccups, which is mostly fluid related as they go away when I flush the fluid. I've only ever had to recondition the hybrid batteries and change out the transmission fluid, but other than that, it runs excellent. V6 engine is pretty much bulletproof as well. High mileage Lexus' really aren't a terrible buy with a good owner.

The LS460 is a great driving car, but it is definitely tuned on the softer side of things. You may want to look at a GS. Those are tuned a bit sportier. The LS460 F Sport may be a little more sporty, but the LS is generally considered the highway cruiser od the lineup.
