Went w Walksnail to put money behind the DJI competitor, as i feel they are trying to take over the industry.
@colibrifpvАй бұрын
You made the right choice, but that is a tough one for a lot of people... DJI dominates for a reason, they are the "Goliath" that can crush their competitors by doing things like asking retailers not to stock Walksnail (by offering discounts if they comply) and pricing the DJI Goggles N3 to kill off the Walksnail Goggles L. But having one unfriendly company dominate the industry is not good for us consumers, so it's nice that Walksnail is proving an alternative 👍
@tombo7719Ай бұрын
@ that is so dirty, the retail deal asking not to sell walksnail. Dirty, but honestly, you take that right there, and is why US gov said no to them. There is a reason, quicker we realize, and move away the better.

Same here! Also for people in EU like myself Caddx makes it easy to unlock full band & power of their system, meanwhile it's always a guessing game with DJI whether they support a "FCC hack" or not.

Came to comments to read what other people are saying about their WS experience. I’m a newbie in FPV and decided to start with WS, the main reason - because I need a tinywhoop to fly at home. Only WS and hdzero has 1s whoops for now. I’ve ordered meteor75 and goggle x, WS VRX on its way as well. Moonlight kit. I’ve decided to give it a try. My main concerns - goggles x, I never saw Dji goggles in person, but goggles x looks good, but not so premium. Painting is fine, but filled text under paint looks cheap. Missing power button, a lot of different glitches on my unit, even produced at the end of 2024. HDMI in - just useless, again, maybe my unit, but I’m not able to get any signal through it. Except the one below. For hdmi out you have to set goggles to standard framerate to make it work with 60hz display. MacBook user? Caddx doesn’t have some agreement with Apple to properly render image in goggles for you (confirmed by caddx support, but it’s a not a part of product description), you will get a pink tint over the image. Say goodbye to any sims on your laptop. So what I have now for $450 for goggles x? (So called top goggles from caddx) Frustration, it looks like it has a good potential, but so many mistakes and qc issues that I’m not sure I should trust and stay with this system. I mean they have a lot of things I’ve been looking for like hdmi in and out, standalone vrx, something a bit cheaper than DJI. I’ll wait for VTX to come and will test it for my application, maybe it will be the way to go, but for now - I would suggest everyone to think twice before getting goggles x, better spend less and grab goggles L, seems like they are doing much better at current state. Anyone else here having the same mood like I do?

Really great comparison with a lot of good information for people to digest 👍👍 I switched to Walksnail from DJI earlier this year after a flying a friend’s wing with it and being stunned by how good INAV looked. I sold off all my DJI stuff except a few vistas that are collecting dust. I am now regretting selling off my DJI stuff, I should have kept it to have both. There are things I like about WS like having 1080p to the eyes on a 1s micro in my house, having complete INAV for my wings and simple mounting of VTXs and the recovery from loss of signal (this one is amazing, I turned away from a plane that was a few miles out and lost video, turned back and a count of 3 I had video back!) are all great. What I am not liking, dealing with Gyroflow even though I’ve gotten it down ok with the moonlight, (sucks with everything else imho) the clunky updating process with different cables/sd card/lack of a simple USB C port and the big one, range. I really expected more out of the range, I keep seeing people fly amazing distances and even with the True RC patches I am struggling to get over 7 miles but with stock goggles 2 I’ve gotten real close to 15 miles on the same wing in the same location. Anyways, long wall of text that most wont read but my long story short for me is, pretty much need both.
@colibrifpvАй бұрын
Hey there Eric thanks a lot for sharing your experience with Walksnail, this is super useful to know. I relate about the fiddly nature of Walksnail. Did you know that the nightly builds of Gyroflow have a lens profile for the Moonlight? Makes it drag and drop like the O3! The firmware updates and ease of use really are lacking though. And if you purged your DJI gear, great news, the new generation is on the horizon so you could rid of it before resale value tanked 👍
@smithe68Ай бұрын
@ thanks for the reply! I’ve found the lens profiles for the moonlight and they do work well. I’ve got the Gofilm20 which is amazing and 3 other moonlight kits in quads with mixed results. I know that can come down to tune of course. I definitely don’t mind tinkering but sometimes I just want to fly! I sold just before the first O3 drop so that was great timing for me! Take care and thanks again.

If performance is comparable to the Truer Antennas, the WS ones might be better for most people because they are cheap and you don't have to remove them all the time. I see you have a very in-depth comparison video on your channel, I'll definitely check it out!

Can you say something about the fitting and adjustability of those goggles for people with glasses?

Sure thing... the Goggles X have adjustable diopters but I can't recall the exact range. The Integra Goggles use a different system, they have interchangeable plastic lenses that you can insert according to your prescription. I like this system because you just insert the right lenses for your needs when you first get them and you never think about it again!

@@colibrifpv Thank you for your response! Yeah, I can see that, but that only works if you don't have specific glasses correcting astigmatism. In my case I could not even use contacts as a replacement. What about range? I have had dji with o3 but decide to sell it for WS. Now I regret it, communication with caddx is a disaster. I've been waiting for my shipment for over a month, after over 3 weeks they only sent the package. There was no such problem with DJI. Maybe I'll change my mind when I receive the X goggles, 1s kit, moonlight kit and gofilm. I would like to ask what the situation is with the range? Apparently DJI O3 has much better penetration, which is important to me. What antennas should I buy to be comparable or better, TrueRC X^2 with Stubby Combo but what about the antenna in the drone? Rush Cherry? Pagoda 2? Lollipop 4? Thank you for your advice and help. I mean the antenna for Long range 4 inches with the moonlight system
@colibrifpvАй бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! Range is actually pretty good on the Walksnail system, it's pretty much on par with DJI O3. DJI O3 might have a slight edge when it comes to penetration but honestly I just tested the range with very similar quads flying the same lines and it was practically the same. For the Goggles X - True RC stubbies could be good but won't make a huge difference. How about 2 stubbies + the Walksnail Patch antenna that replaces the LED plate? Should improve range (directional) but you can still put it in your bag without removing antennas. For true long range, go with the TrueRC patch antennas, those will make a big difference but you will have to remove them. For the GoFilm 20 - don't change the antennas, the quad has been tuned to fly with those little whip antennas and honestly they work pretty well. For Walksnail Moonlight on your 4 inch - any LHCP antenna with an I-PEX connector should work, the stock ones are okay you you can grab longer ones, I think TrueRC, Lumenier, and Foxxer make the best ones.... just don't go too long or you will have trouble tuning the quad. Good luck!
@thumoum5248Ай бұрын
@ i saw that walksnail patch antenna is not working so do not even consider it. I know i need to remove truerc, that no problem. Gofilm is not for upgrade, only 4 inch build long range (flyfish atlas 4 + tmotor p1604 2850kv + speedybee mini) with moonlight (or gt kit if it fits). Maybe in future i will make true 7-8 inch build for long range with gt kit. Now it cruiser with good link quality (want to fly in the middle of forest or near lot of trees because of my living place).

I sold my goggles 2 for goggles x because I have few analog tinywhoops. I already supported caddx so much, made so many friends and new comers to get into walksnail and make their transition smooth. But then it happened. I got my expansion board and I was flying my tinywhoop (using foxeer wildfire analog vrx). On day 2nd it screwed my vrx. New VRX gone in dumpster. Now I regret, why did I even support the wrong cause. I don't know why they do experiments with customer and never focus on a refined release of product. Did anyone face this issue?

Well at least DJI is honest about their lack of analog support ;-) I get that googles x were a huge letdown, so I waited and bought goggles L for $159.
