Your channel is very informative, I am from China and currently lives in FV region, your VLog about those trails are awesome and keeps it up. Regarding Tacoma: Pros: very good at off roading, economically feasible all around, from new vehicle purchase to after 500,000kms, it looks good too. Body on frame with leaf spring suspension, very essensial for off road. Very good build quality, no rattling after years, no falling rubbers, or craking plastic, unlike many other pick up truck manufatures. Noise control is Ok too inside the cabin. Cons: it's different compare to vehicles in Middel Eastern, Indian market. Small fuel tank and emission spec is old. In China you can get a Prado with 150L fuel tank for expedition, and the latest 3.5 liter ultra fuel efficient Toyota engine, with very clean combustion left no carbon build up; but here in North America, all engine you are getting are around 10 to 15 years old, and in order to enlarge the trunk capacity, the fuel tank is small, GX460 in Canada has 75 liters fuel tank. With 15L+/100km, you are looking at a range less than a Tesla model S. Overall, if you don't need a large fuel tank and no pursation of the latest technology, the Tacoma is an absolute great car, with off road tire, you are crossing Canadian pot holes like butter slip across the bread. Enjoy~

I believe your comment about the engines is partially true. The China-spec Prado has a 7GR engine, while the 3rd-gen Tacoma has a 2GR engine. They're almost the same and have the same 94 x 83 mm bore and stroke, but the 2GR has slightly lower compression, which I think is an advantage in terms of durability. Does that Prado use 92 or 95-octane gas? The Tacoma uses 92 (labeled regular/87 in US/Canada). You are right in that these North American versions have small tanks and limited range, but in most cases this is sufficient because of the generally high density of gas stations. You can always take some additional fuel when going into the backcountry. Take care!
