Eposvox has been talking about how cagey Beacn is about their specs for a while now and it's disappointing to see them sticking to it. I suspect this whole "low noise? How about no noise!" thing is just their way of covering up for bad components and it's even more ridiculous to see you can't even turn off the hardware noise suppression. If this thing truly has zero latency routing, even without FX applied, that would give it an advantage over the Wave XLR, but with cheap materials, probably cheap components, and undefeatable noise gating, this is a hard pass.

I was very much interested in getting one of these, but no true raw audio is kind of a big let down. Beacn Studio is almost what I want in an interface. It's almost perfect. The only thing it needs imo is to get rid of the preamp gate, give the eq a toggle and use of custom vst's. Toggle should be easy enough, but the other two I gotta wonder.. Maybe this product is a pass and wait for the next big product from them that might have physical faders, all the perks of studio and none of the downsides. One can dream.

Oh hi Floyd. Anyways, I agree. Biggest things I am looking for in an interface is the option to use custom vsts, physical faders, and the ability to potentially use wireless headsets with them. I want an interface I can replace my OS volume and device control with. Beacn Studio almost had me, specially with the device control after a windows update breaks my audio, but no custom vsts and having to potentially do a workaround for my wireless headphones just to get them to work is what killed it for me. Maybe one day, I'll keep an eye on Beacn stuff, but I've yet to see an interface I have true control over and have the options I need.

I like the direction where this is going... being able to have such granular control through the software- but the price tag is just so high taking into account that that I can already have similar software (e.g. Steelseries GG, etc) with my current hardware that have more ports/features... thanks for the review o7

Can the actual noise level of the device be measured by sending a bias signal in to release the gate, and then removing it from the recording? Because it probably sucks, or they wouldn't need to do this kind of crap. Also, is ALL the processing done in hardware or is software also involved?
@Mogawty

Sad to see, it's pretty cute. I'm also a noise gate hater. Could never get them to sound natural without making it very weak, to the point it may as well be off. A baked in noise gate is an absolute dealbreaker. Hope they can fix with a firmware update or something.

Does it have snoring dog suppression? I used to have a snoring cat, funny, except it would sleep next to my head at night. Yes, features you can't turn off are annoying. Thanks.

Oh dear. That gate really is crappy, isn't it? 🤭 I don't blame you. That would break it for me, also. My English Channel has an analogue gate which is beautifully controllable with a couple of knobs.

I don't recall if you reviewed the beacn mic. I've heard similar things that the software is excellent but the mic itself is overpriced for what it is. Harris loves it though. I need to move to a dynamic mic. My old Yeti picks up too much noise but between VSTs and some post sound work in Davinci, I get the sound pretty good. I liked your Podmic USB review. Just waiting for a sale.

The main reason I’ll get this is for the dual pc from the usb in the back. I’m just curious if I connect two of my pc will all the apps show up on the software and can I use my beacn mic create to control it all? Mainly all I would want it for is just controlling both my pc and all programs from both but idk if it can even do that

the link program you will install on the second Pc will send up to 4 stereo channels over to the other PC, and YES, you will be able to use the Mix Create to control the volumes of those 4 channels!! Not sure if the videos are uploaded to youtube yet, but they have the VOD's on Twitch that go over this in more detail, but I think on the BEACN youtube channel, they did upload their Twitch live stream going into much more detail about the Beacn Studio and what it can do for live streamers!! :) :)

I loved the idea of being able to use a downward expander instead of a gate. I'm not a fan of the gate by default. Now if I could somehow send the signal to my rodecaster pro 2 and then out from there...that would be kind of fun.

Honestly, part of me is questioning why they felt the need to reimplement a noise reduction algorithm in the first place when Bertom pretty much has that market cornered, and for 10% the price if you choose to get Denoiser Pro.

To be honest, I think this thing actually meets a lot of my needs. I hate desk clutter, but I love my SM7B. I've had it hooked up to a Rodecaster Duo because I wanted low latency monitoring with post-processing applied, onboard dsp, and clean pre-amps that are able to drive my SM7B. I've tried so many interfaces, and nothing compared to my Rodecaster Duo but it was overkill for my needs and it's so big on my desk. The Wave XLR doesn't do onboard DSP which wastes my system resources, and its monitoring is raw signal which is so noisy I can't even use it. I tried the Beacn mic before and it's not bad but I just couldn't give up my SM7B for it. This definitely doesn't seem "perfect" by any means, but I think this will meet my needs for the foreseeable future.

I personally like the beacn products but their lack of transparency when it comes to future development and lack of app updates for long periods of time “OVER A YEAR” to address reported bugs has caused me to lose trust in the products viability and support in the future, and based on your expert take, I don’t see them Correcting this issue via software anytime soon.
