the other major issue with this (or any "all in one") pan is that you just have one piece... having a separate saute pan and sauce pot means you can cook two things at the same time.

Who only ever uses one pan anyway? Why replace 5 pieces with 5 new pieces of gimmick pans? Unless you only ever do one pot meals, there's no point. If I'm glazing carrots, making mashed potatoes, and stewing meat at the same time, only having one pan would be useless.

True across all sectors, the "one tool to do it all" is never true and the claim should be seen as a scam from the get go. No food is a "super food" with all the nutrition, no knife is "the last knife you'll ever buy" etc. So to this exact pan, no fucking way. I've seen enough tests, it doesn't do well ANY of the things it purports to do. A friend of mine had a new baby last year and called me to plan a kitchen because he wanted to get more domestic to help start the family out. He and his wife were takeout kids before the baby and he knew I like to cook so he came to me for advice. We planned a few heavy hitter kitchen items because their in a home with a small kitchen, space efficiency is a must, so we plotted two kitchen knives, a cutting board that fit across his sink, an aluminum baking sheet, an enameled cast iron Dutch oven and a carbon steel skillet. Pound fir pound, inch for inch, he gets the most versatility with just those items and I gave him a couple wish list items to add to the kitchen if/when they get a new place with a bigger kitchen. Those pieces aren't necessarily what I'd recommend for everyone, a lot has to be considered in skill level, what kinds of food you like to cook, and space or organizational resources you have, but for him, that hit his sweet spot. That's how everyone should do a kitchen, consult the smartest cook you know who isn't rich, plan your kitchen with them.

The biggest issue I have is that twice I have burned my fingers by forgetting that the helper handle gets as hot as the pan and I picked up the pan with bare fingers. I got in touch with the company and asked if they could produce a silicone sleeve that could be placed on the helper handle. That was 18 months ago and I have never heard back from them. I wish you had mentioned that danger in the video. ALWAYS use pot holders or oven mitts when using both hands to lift this pan!!

I purchased the OXO steamer basket based on your recommendation last year to replace my ancient steamer basket, and my only complaint is that I waited so long to get it. It's a fantastic basket and I love the long legs on it that allow you to have enough water in your pot to ensure that it does not boil dry. I have “the hots” for that dutch oven! All in one cooking gizmos don’t do it for me. A good ,clad ,stainless , tall sided chicken frying pan with a metal lid paired with some stainless Chinese style steaming baskets covers a lot of ground. A good omelette pan is still needed. I try to get the plain best, without modern coatings that will eventually fail. Pans that will last two generations longer than me. The modern laminated stainless, when seasoned like a cast iron pan, works like a cast iron pan. Just watch for deals. They can be extremely expensive but they don’t have to be. I found an imported copy of a large clad wok that was less than a third of the price of top of the line. All the essential aspects of construction were present. The difference was the state of the interior surface finish. I wet sanded the interior with 400 grit then 600 grit wet or dry sand paper. I did it by hand with water and “elbow grease”. I washed it when done, and seasoned it as though it was cast iron. The first test egg I dropped into it slid all the way across it and over the side. That’s non stick, and I don’t have to worry about tainting my food with deteriorating coatings down the road.

I'm watching videos for products I'm not even interested in because the crew is just fun to watch. For what it's worth, I was happy to see you all mentioned the Misen being a solid choice for reliability, because I bought one before seeing the video, and now know I'm replacing another non-stick with one of the Oxo models. I prefer my Misen Carbon Steel pans but when I have someone helping, they feel a plain ol' non-stick is less daunting. (Meaning they don't have the patience to let it preheat lol). A pan is a tool just like a scrwedriver is a tool. This pan is like one of those multi-tool (like a swiss army knife or one of those ''Leatherman''). A multi-tool can be usefull and work great in some situation. For example if you're out camping it is not very pratical to bring a whole kitchen set or a full toolbox. But a multi-tool never perform as well or better then all the individual tools it is replacing. I am alway suspicious and careful when one thing is pretending to replace many things.

I am inundated by ads for these pans on KZbin. I look at them and think, "The ideal cookware for people that do not cook." That horrible handle is form over function and the capacity seems to be targeted at single people or couples that want decorative cookware. All of my cookware has seen years of use and shows wear. I am pretty sure every buyer of this pan will be pan shopping in a couple years for a replacement or the next trendy piece of cookware that supposedly "solves all your problems". Another great review from ATK. I would just like to say that I am currently stuck between house moves (most of my contents in storage) and I only have one frying pan with me in which I have to cook everything. A great example of how 'one items cannot replace many' is when I am cooking pasta with a sauce. I have to cook the sauce first and remove it from the pan and then boil the pasta in the frying pan. Then drain and mix everything together to reheat. I dream of the day when I have a saucepan to boil pasta in at the same time as cooking a sauce in a frying pan ! So the idea of spending a lot of money on one pan which cannot do 2 things at once is not an option for me.

Thanks for the test kitchen review - I'm shopping for a pan and came across your video during research. In my home, non-stickability is the deal-breaker. Cooking a hot breakfast daily, stir-fry's a couple times a week, and some bigger, special dishes a few times a year, a regular chain-store skillet's non-stick coating start to deteriorate after about 6 months and replacement usually happens around 12 months. From this video, it looks like the Always Pan's non-stick coating durability is on par with other skillets; it would make sense money-wise to choose to replace a $30-$40 skillet rather than pay the premium price tag annually.

You never know what you are going to find "in the alley" and pans can be cleaned and never bring in bugs. For some of my history that you cant repeat: I bought a set of 4 saucepans and 3 lids at Ikea for $6. Over the years, in the alley, I found a cast iron dutch oven w/lid, a cast iron comal, and (from a neighbor's alley-find) a 6.5" cast iron pan with a long wooden handle. Also a Farberware saucepan sans lid. I have a cast iron 10" pan for ages. I have a 8" too. -> The beauty of these is that they are easy to clean. Rinse and scrub with a not-fine steel wool pad. Done. Almost nothing takes more effort (by which I mean soaking.) How do you clean one you found? Heat it hot (let it cool) wash it. Then fry an egg in lots of oil. Repeat. Maybe repeat again. And you are done. Thank you random Chinese chef on youtube. And who knows what wondery you will find?: hints, craigslist free, FB marketplace, Freecycle, BuyNothing and more such sites. ""Rock on."
