The best in this space just keeps delivering great content for the home user. I hope your channel just explodes as more people need to hear what you have to say. Also I hope more manufactures give you product to test and review. Would love to hear what you think of Skytrac +, Mevo + etc etc and some of these new "budget" overhead units. Don't change who you are and what you do as your channel grows as your honest, informed dialogue is what we love the most.

When you played Prairie Knolls in a previous video, you mentioned the R10 did alright estimating spin axis with irons but not so much with Driver when gear effect was introduced which I assume meaning heel and toe strikes. If you hit in the "center" of the driver face with an open or closed clubface, will the r10 estimate spin axis more correctly so you see the appropriate draw or cut shot on the screen?
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF 11 ай бұрын
I'm theory absolutely yes! However it still needs to estimate all the other data correctly as well such as club path and clubface at impact (which is pretty much just uses HLA to get the impact angle) which it does pretty well! This is why I think the R10 is almost more accurate the better player you are 🤣 or the better ball striker. I do think it's incredible what they created and it still holds up well today against the big boys. I'm super excited to see what Garmin has coming next. Cheers.

No when using it outside the unit doesn't need the RPT balls for spin axis. It only needs them indoors.

Got my Mlm2pro a month ago and have been having the connection issues. I’m working with the support team, we will see if they can figure it out. I have a really good WiFi but they’re showing that it’s weak. It’s like the WiFi receiver is super weak on the Rapsodo. I’m going to try moving the WiFi right next to the Rapsodo next. But I am still considering returning it before my 90 days is up…only thing is there isn’t really anything better until you get into the $2K range.

Hey mate I ended up going to a wifi extender and have had zero issues since going to that. The MLM2PRO and my iPad are the only two things on it. I used a seperate mobile hotspot for a while and that worked flawlessly as well. So hotspot my phone and then connect Rapsodo and iPad up to that... Zero issues. It's like the MLM2PRO didn't play nice with my modem / router

@@JLagGOLF thanks so much for the info and that will help with troubleshooting. I have a Ubiquiti Unifi wifi system at home which is kind of a commmercial grade system, so I’m surprised it’s having issues but I will try some things and see if I can get them on their own access point that’s closer. I’ll let you know what I find out. And thanks for the channel, this is my first launch monitor and I’m hooked on the whole thing and golf in general, so it’s fun and I’m learning a lot from your videos!

@@DavidKudellMusic Thanks mate! Sounds like you have a great set up. Yeah try the hotspot method it's an easy one to do.. I'd be interested to know how it goes. For me it was major issues and then when I did that absolutely zero disconnect issues. So then I got a wifi extender just because I didn't want to chew through my mobile data and it again worked with zero issues. When I connect back to my home router the disconnects come back!

Hi I'm on the fence between these two. I really appreciate your insightful video. I will be using this outdoors in the backyard set up I'm creating this spring. I want to be able to see my club path and club face ect.. Did I read that the ML2Pro doesn't have that? If it doesn't and you add Awesome Golf would you get it through that app? One of my concerns after watching this is the yearly charges especially with the ML2Pro. You answered one of my big questions which was if you were to get Awesome Golf or GS Pro would you still need to buy the ML2Pro yearly subscription. That could be the deal breaker for me. If you were to add GS Pro your talking $450 a year.
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF 9 ай бұрын
Hey mate that's correct you won't get club data at all with the MLM2PRO even if you are using awesome golf or GS Pro. It is however incredibly accurate with its ball data! The R10 you do get all that data albeit most of it is estimated... The estimated data once you have the unit set up and aligned correctly is actually really good! However the ball flight is not always correct with the R10. Pros and cons! It's a tough decision to make but honestly you will be happy with either device.

Hey Joe, Great video! Would love your opinion on what I should do. I want to have an indoor setup to practice and more than likely play courses most of the time. My set up would be in a garage so would pack it up after using ect. Before a deep dive into reviews ect I was sold on the Garmin however the more I research the Garmin the more I’m put off by it. I play off 14 and feel spin axis reading is a big one for me. The Rapsodo I’m super worried about the connectivity and the on going costs, I can afford it it’s just a big difference as you say after a few years. If you were in my shoes would you either A) Go Garmin due to ease of use and still have a decent unit that has some areas of weakness. B) Go Rapsodo and persist with the updates and costs or C) wait 6/12 Months and see if Garmin launch a new unit. Thanks mate.

I don't feel like this is even a question at this point unless you just can't afford the price difference or the subscription. The Rapsodo with recent updates is now pushing functionality of devices twice it's price.
@mr.gadget5160
@mr.gadget5160 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. Not for every use case. I just started with golf… and want to work out the distances for my clubs. Rapsodo is overkill. My driving range is 5 min from my house. I don’t even bother with simulators. I don’t need spin and spin axis yet and I have to use range balls anyway. So the R10 is half the price… and in 2 years I can check the market again and upgrade if needed. And while I usually don’t mind subscription services, Rapsodo feels like a total rip off. They just withhold functions what should be included anyway. For 50 bucks I don’t care… but 200? Seems like we need some more competition…
@JLagGOLF

Yeah for me and my use case the Rapsodo is killing it... And I think we will get even more functionality announced at the PGA show in Jan 🤞🤞. The Garmin still has a use case but the market is getting smaller I feel. I'm really interested to see what Garmin is working on for their next release..

Hey mate both are great! For me I'd choose the MLM2PRO as it has the range ball mode that I've found to be really accurate for carry distance that I can then take to the course. Also I just love the shot tracer and impact vision. Another advantage with the MLM2PRO is how easy it is to align!! With the camera you literally just put it through the ball and your target and it's perfectly aligned. So for me personally I'd choose the MLM2PRO.. but the R10 is still a fantastic device that will give you more data albeit estimated data but it's still really accurate as long as it's lined up correctly. Oh and both can hook up to awesome golf! Which is great for Sim golf on the range.

I am still so torn. Nearly keeping me up nights 😂 For starters, I'm a fitter in my 30s. I've been playing since i was a kid with a hiatus of just about 10 years. From 24-34. I'm well on my way to scratch with a slight belief that i could actually play professionally in the years to come. Here's my question; I'm on a relatively tight golf-budget. I spend most of my time hitting into a net off a mat in my backyard with enough room for any monitor. Is the cost say, after 3 years with the Rapsodo and its membership worth it? I mean "worth", by the way. I think R10's price point accurately reflects its limitations. On the surface, it seems to be an absolute no-brainer. The sheer swing, club and ball data alone are incredible. EXCEPT for its massive inaccuracies. Does the Rapsodo actually warrant its 3 year price tag? I apologize for the lengthy comment. I just really want to make the right call and my lady is sick of me pulling at my beard as i read and watch and read and watch reviews 😅

Mate honestly in your situation it's a no brainer MLM2PRO ALL DAY! I wouldn't even think twice about it. The R10 is great but not for the kind of practice you want to be doing. Accurate ball flight and GC quad like data is what you need. Honestly I don't know if you will keep it for 3 years.. you might find yourself upgrading to the new Garmin model if they do release one in a year or 2. But the MLM2PRO is absolutely fantastic.

@@JLagGOLF I'm like some others, if they had included the cloud storage upfront, I might have thought twice about the subscription on the MLM2PRO. It's really not the price, it's the principle of lack of spin/spin-axis or any reasonable functionality unless you subscribe. But also, there were other things. So for example, in two years I will have to decide if I want to renew the service, but the shifty part was that it was auto-subscribing CC service, so if you never opt-ed out, BANG! 200 bucks yearly! So for me, it was big nope. So they have you CC number on file and in two years you will be charged, and then yearly there after, no consent required. Second thing I didn't like with the MLM2PRO was it was a closed system. Well, I have a better uses of my time than to illegally attempt a reverse engineer the encryption they used just so they can rip people off on the subscription and shutout any opensource developers. I have to say that the OCR technque was super clever and can apply to many closed systems (Thank god. Unless that will be the next thing they add to the end-user agreements). Still, if your going to grab all metrics including spin/spin-axis via OCR, or watch any of the high-speed videos of the ball strike with their app, you have to be subscribed? BS! So, I sent my MLM2PRO back, got my refund and said never again will I buy a Rapsodo product.

Subscribing for cloud compute or other services that COST the manufacturer to maintain make sense. Feature unlock subscriptions are just a piss take cash grab from the manufacturer (like paying to get features like heated seats unlocked), I have heard that most of the rapsodo updates have been fixing the connectivity issues that exist with these units…. That irritates me more than a little bit, won’t support manufacturers like this even if they have a few more features

You shouldn't let pet peeves cloud your judgment. I get not liking subscriptions but the only other that are close to the MLM are 4 and 5 times the price. You would have to run one of these for 6 years to get to just the MEVo+ price. Hell you could run one of these for a decade for cheaper than a GC3
@boredymcboredface8624

@@TheMCAidsbut in fairness .. it’s a 1200 unit with a 200$ per year cost once you factor that in then you should just go for the mevo+ if the subscription was 20$ it would be less offensive but it is still just shady business practice trying to hold their customers to ransom and ensure ongoing revenue stream for hardware that you have already bought. Remember these features cost them nothing to provide. For me it’s either cheap option = Garmin expensive = mevo+ I’m sure there will be people that buy these without realising they loose functionality in 12 months

@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF 9 ай бұрын
Oh wow did they tell you AOA is coming? That would be great. There are a LOT of metrics that people can get fixated on. At the end of the day the best feedback you will get is the ball flight and if you can understand why certain ball flights happen and what causes them then you don't really need the numbers. But they are nice to have and I want them all! 🤣🤣 That's why the Rapsodo is so good... The ball flight is insanely accurate for the price.
@boredymcboredface8624
@boredymcboredface8624 6 ай бұрын
Respectfully that’s garbage you can get more and more data BUT most people DONT need angle of attack. They need to practice using a system that gives them reasonable consistent data AND if budget is an issue - meaning that you would consider one of these devices over more expensive options then you SHOULD save some money for a putting setup and lessons because THAT will make far more of a difference than just another data point …. The m2lm retails for 1000$ and the Garmin for 850$ then if you price out over 5 years the m2lm is approaching 2k … so if you want more data save your money and buy a mevo+ OR budget and spend the money on lessons, approach, and putting. I’m going from Garmin to mevo or sky track- I don’t consider the m2lm “an upgrade”
