To celebrate, McFarlane Toys issued a Target Exclusive Gold Label of their figure with a brand new base. Is this worth picking up, whether collectors have the original or not?

This figure never looked right to me. The sculpt itself looks very much like The New adventures of Batman rather than the animated series appearance and this is most notable in the squareness of the head, the way the cape drapes over the shoulders, and especially the utility about being box pouches rather than capsules with an ovular buckle. Yet it was always produced with the animated series ovular emblem? That never made sense to me. And then of course there's also the really strange proportions with having a very small waist and a ginormous chest that was so out of proportion that it didn't even look like the source material anymore. The original was a pass and this was a bust.

They should remake Batman, Superman, and GL to be more like the animated flash they put out. He still looks off but at least he can stand up.

So, i will be honest- I hate this figure (both releases) This could have been the ultimate Batman TAS figure, but instead its a hybrid between the original and redesign, making no one happy. It reminds me of the first like, 2 or 3 figures they made for New Batman adventures: they were on the molds for the original figures and just looked off. Honestly seeing them rerelease it and pretending its show accurate makes me even more furious than the first one did! thank goodness the Arkham figures came out at the same time. They may have an inaccuracy or two, but they are SO much closer that i can be okay with a fudge here or there- at least the body looks right!

All of McFarlane's DCAU figures are so embarrassingly ugly and off model. They look like they were made by someone who _hates_ Bruce Timm's art style, and just made a passive aggressive parody of it rather than taking any time to understand the nuance and intent of the character designs. It's especially bad when you consider how DC Collectibles absolutely killed it with their line of DCAU figures. Hell, even the Kenner figures were head and shoulders above these. DC Collectibles' TNBA Batman in particular; the one that kick-started the line, is one of the most impressive translations of a 2D character design to 3D I've ever seen. The Mafex one doesn't even look as good, even if it is more articulated. McFarlane has started to just re-release the DC Collectibles figures under their own brand, which I think is for the best. Those figures were notorious for their fragility. Repurposing those molds and reproducing them with higher grade plastic is a worthwhile endeavor. Honestly, I'd love to see a lot of old DC Collectibles and DC Direct figures reissued through McFarlane, but that's unlikely with the massive hard-on Todd has for manufactured scarcity and the collector's market. This is the guy who has never done a second run on the first issue of his own flagship character.

I have both the regular and the Target Blue version of the figure. So when I saw this come out, the real question was, "Do I want the base? " And I said yes, but also knowing I had rewards to use against this purchase. Ultimately I got the figure for half off with rewards.

Got this for displaying in the box, love the BTAS logo! It’s a weird figure, but it’s grown on me! I like that’s it’s a hybrid of both series!

I’ve been going back and forth with picking this up. But, I’ve toying with the idea of diorama a building display and with lighting mimicking this. A wired cape replacement would go a long way too.

Why the hell didn't McFarlane treat us yet to a TNAS Batman, when this figure looks closer in proportions to that version that to the BTAS Batman??

I was fortunate enough to apply a $30 Target gift card toward this. Upon opening it, I have mixed feelings about the figure, but I’m glad I didn’t pay full price. The paint job on mine is far better than your figure. Like, I’m sorry to say, yours looks awful compared to mine. I do love the base. I agree it needs a third light.

the original is better to me, cape straight down and not in the way, also the figure seems slightly chunkier compared to the gold label, I know the DC direct one is more accurate but it's also smaller and more delicate, for an 7 inches BTAS I'd go for the original release at the moment, I managed to grab one for 30 euros from Amazon

For me I think the best Batman out there is the Batman animated series mafex by far has everything right 100$ but it’s worth it

Great video ! I really dislike pretty much all the animated early figures and found it quite disappointing when they released a Teen titans cyborg and it was far better than any of the other animated and they just stopped plans of making the others and cherry picking a few of the wb animated figures like the solar suit Superman . There is a bit of news that they are doing a Titans wave after the nolan batman wave hits .

It's not a bad figure imo but, his original design did not look like this. I never really liked this look, he looks like Johnny Bravo with the huge chest and tiny legs. Also, this should've came with a wired cape so the ownerr can pose it however they want.
