Just bought vocaster two studio. For 99€ new, 3 year warranty. Includes this microphone, a headphone and the interface. It is 20€ less expensive for just the interface. 😁 Is this headphone worth €9? 😂 Keeping those extra studio items for backup. My real microphone is a Sennheiser md21u 😁

Just did the same, shipping bumped me to 105 though. How do you feel about the mic?

@@catalin0504 it is a back up for me, haven't given it much time. Using Sennheiser md21u and those don't tend to die. Just couldn't resist getting an emergency microphone and headphone for that price 🤣 and if it is too bad, my 3 y.o. can play with it 😎

Appreciate the shout! I didn't HATE it......and I would almost say it sounds just as good as most mics in its price range....but its that DANG capsule and the fact that you can buy the same mic in the form of the music villa mv7, the universal audio sd-1 and the t.bone bc500..... Universal Audio should be the source of my rage since it is considerably more expensive. That mic just agitated me lol Great review as always.

There is the listener to consider. I, like many, if not most, listened to this through KZbins smushed audio on average Bluetooth headphones (over ear closed back) and I was hard pushed to hear any difference between any of the mics, and none would have made any difference to my enjoyment of the video. For the average vlogger, streamer, content maker, any of those mics or the venerable SM58 would be just fine, especially with a little tweaking in post. The SM7B is I'm convinced in most cases a vanity purchase.

It is a true story that the vast majority of listeners couldn't care less about the difference...... The only time even a trained ear audiophile can tell the difference is with decent headphones....

A update on pricing. As of June 24, this is available in the Vocaster 2 bundle; V2, this mic, headphones and xlr cable all in for just £85 plus shipping on Thomann. Not a bad deal.

@@DarkCornerStudios I guessed they'd be nothing special. They'll do for a school pair. For that price the V2 and an 'OK' mic isn't to be sniffed at. It's almost a freebie.

I don't hate it but I also don't understand why Focusrite choose to do these these weird and very cheap mics either. Stick what you're good at or at least start with a worthy mic.

Great review. I'm thinking of upgrading my audio interface as I have the 2nd Gen 2i2 from Focuseite, very reliable, so the brand has impressed me. I saw their Vocaster Two and it dawned on me that they've designed this mic to really work in conjunction with the Vocaster which has some auto gain and software features to enhance audio. For the price seems like a steal. There is a noticeable clarity difference but nothing you couldnt fix with a few plugins or post prod. Even if you didnt mean to, you sold me on this one

I'm getting am sm58 after that. The vocaster sounds okay but not so much so I'd go for it. The sm7b is such a classic and it sounds great. I still like my Rode procaster dynamic though it needs a fair amount of gain and it's self noise once it's cranked up is annoying. My preamps are good!

@@DarkCornerStudioshey man, sadly sm58 cost about $120 on my country. More expensive than v7 ($100). But I think Se Dynacaster dmc8 is a bit cheaper here at only $194. Which one u recommend at that situation for beginner home studio?
@dickginkowski6071
@dickginkowski6071 Жыл бұрын
It has no low end and a lot of top end, IMHO. Not pleasant to listen to. It does not beat a SM58 if money is an issue. For the price there are better choices.

Not even close to beating the sm58... I should have thrown the sm8500 in on the comparisons just for giggles

@@DarkCornerStudios This may be a bit controversial BUT maybe there are companies making (or perhaps more accurately, marketing) microphones that shouldn't. Focusrite, Presonus, etc., might be out of their lanes here. If you don't like the SM58, then the AKG D5, SE v7, Sennheiser 835 or Lewitt 550 are decent choices. Beta 58a for a few bucks more has a smidge more gain and less dark. A sleeper is a harder to find Blue 300 which is a decent condenser handheld that's either on sale for a good price or, if not, too expensive.

If someone wants to buy it, better to buy it if its for a begginer, not for singing but from a bundle maybe. Now talking about "podcast" microphone do you think the t.bone bc 500 is a good mic for singing. Maybe mxl 990 or behringer b-1 at the same price would do better than t.bone?

So basically a lot of mic manufacturers are 'doing a Behringer' half the time but then blush and go coy about it, where as Behringer at least owns it.
